David's dancing was an outward expression of praising the Lord,it was done in the right context, dancing for the Lord in the right context is not wrong at all but one should not do so in a disruptive or provocative manner since God is a God of order,it is tricky to differentiate between dancing motivated by the Lord and his presence and dancing motivated by the flesh especially when the music is good,God judges both our actions and motives, we should check our motives when dancing for the Lord and make sure that our motive is to honor and glorify Jesus, when praising keep your mind focused on the Lord

I dance in church. I don't even like public attention. Sometimes I don't even want to stand up, but God has done so much for me, and sometimes I feel moved to stand up and worship. I don't want eyes on me, but I silently talk to God and say, "It's You and me," meaning I'm not putting on a show for anyone. It's just me and Him. Sometimes I'll even just close my eyes and sway.

When the anointing of the Holy Ghost hits you. You will dance in church I have many many times over the 39 years that I've been in church. Sometimes it's hard for me to walk to get in church I have problems with my legs but when the anointing of God hits me the power of God. My feet come off the floor.

If you are really dancing for the Lord, and not interrupting the service. But, really dancing for the Lord. not, just dancing like you feel like it, or because you are happy. It comes down to the heart.

I'm noticing a concerning pattern. The church has become so overrun by liscentiousness, that now a lot of teachers are pulling so far away thay they're bordering or crossing into legalism. We see all these "pastors" saying "Do whatever you want! God understands!" and we recoil and correctly discern that to be wrong, but in our efforts to "not fall victim" to liscentiousness, we stray into legalism. I think it's a good reminder that it's not any better to be a Pharisee than it is a Prostitute. It's just as serious of a sin to put extra-biblical restrictions on people as it is to encourage people to sin. Isaiah 29:13 "The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught"

No Voddie!! I don’t understand why no one is speaking out against Voddie. Voddie doesn’t think it takes all that. HOWEVER some of us know scriptures for ourselves Voddie.! Many places in the Bible speaks of dancing for the Lord Ecclesiastes and many scriptures but my favorite is psalm 149 3-4. Let them praise His ñame with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp. Voddie doesn’t think that’s necessary. We don’t have an ark or a king? I disagree Voddie!! We have the King of King and Lord of Lords and it would behoove you to praise and worship him. Teaching is wonderful but you aren’t teaching the Bible all way. I'm reminded of the song, who's lyrics are written as follows: "I will dance, i will sing, to be mad for my King, nothing more is hindering this passion in my soul And I'll become even more undignified than this Some will say it's foolishness..." The Bible mentions dancing as a way to praise and express joy to God in several places, including Psalms 30:11-12, 149:3, and 150:4. As long as the emotional response is in response to truth and celebration of God working, I believe dancing, shouting, weeping, clapping etc. is biblical. Just let truth lead the way rather than manufacturing emotion and hoping that the truth catches up. Dancing doesnt have to mean being in the aisle or being distracting (which many conservatives automatically believe it always is) but I would propose that it can mean that depending on what is being celebrated! You may agree with Voddie…that someone getting saved might elicit dancing… but do you ever do it!? Do you ever response emotionally and just praise him with abandon? I‘ve been in many situations that conservatives were not in the habit of raising hands, clapping, moving their feet (bc it wasn’t a part of their tradition/culture) and I believe that they are missing out on a part of the spiritual relationship with God. Emotion is a part of our earthly life so why should they avoid it as a godly response to the Most High (who has done exceedingly more than any earthly sports team, job, relationship etc. could do)?

Music can move you, but lacking self control and distracting others is not good. Worship means "to serve" and our singing is serving God through praise. It also is meant to encourage us to live holy lives filled with good works. Music encourages, teaches, praises, and moves you into good actions and thoughts.

Me I don't dance AT ALL. Dancing is just something I don't do. I grew up in a charismatic church and they made it seem you are required to dance to praise and worship God. When in reality, dancing is a permitted act of worship by God. Every time I went up to the alter, to "dance", it NEVER felt real. Same goes for slaying in the spirit. The relationship between Jesus and I seems to be more focused and serving. Thing is a lot of Christian think there's a one sized fits all relationship with Jesus when in reality Jesus know exactly how to win everyone's hearts. Personally. Just Jesus and you. I've come to conclusion that Jesus loves me, I love Him and our relationship is beautiful. Seek Jesus people. It would help you a ton.

There’s a time and place for dancing. The argument of dancing in church is completely and utterly preposterous. If you were in the presence of God, you would not be dancing. You’d be on your knees and paying him you respect not dancing. Imagine if the high priest was dancing in the Holy of Holies, what do you think would happen to him?

This is a perfect example of men who have never felt the power of the Holy Ghost. When the All Mighty fills you with himself you will do whatever to glorify Him including dance in the Spirit. Dancing is a possible introduction to sin. Growing up with three sisters , I learned how dancing influences great provocation on people. The dance that David dance was one of joy and impulse. His heart danced at the joy of The Lord and the ark. It impulsed him to move and dance. This wasn’t something David did continually in public, he didn’t care about the dancing in itself. I never cared for learning how to dance , because I always considered what provocation it can give to others. The people of Israel knew his king , and also his longing for The Lord. How many of us can say that our family and friends know our testimony? If by all means you dance in public I hope it’s to worship The Lord. Be wise to also do so in the presence of godly people.

When I was in theology study many years ago, there was a story that was shared about well-known theologian of the day who has since gone on to be with the Lord... And it goes like this, he was a guest speaker at a church, he was invited to share the word, and at the cessation and benediction of the services for the day... He went on to observe flags being waived and a guy off to the side who was just hands in the air apparently of praise, but he was hopping around on one leg. Curious about what this guy was doing, he went over and waited until whatever it was he thought he was doing was finished... and politely ask the guy what he was doing? And the guy was genuinely puzzled as if it was natural for him to be doing what he was doing... So, he put a question to a point straight - he asked him if he recalled what the fruits of the spirit were, since he claimed the Lord told him to do it 😏 and the response was telltale, of just about anyone who's in the spiritual demographic of this guy... They always go through all of them until it gets to the last one - "self-control" The guy looked as though somebody beat him with 20 lb of flour... Self-control is one of the resident attributes that produces a characteristic of the seasoned, mature believer ... If it is not, then you believe 'something else' and that something else I have going on to describe as "comfort-zone" theology... Whatever makes you feel good for however you living now. But these are the signs of ecumenical deviation and ignorance of the word of God. Understanding of course, this is tongue in cheek, willful ignorance is rebellion.. simply because you understand the standard but you don't gravitate towards obeying it. Which means there is a stronghold in the life of this particular individual professing faith in the Lord Jesus Christ but they worship attributes instead of the owner of the attributes. They are effectively in love with the love of the love of Jesus, but don't do what Jesus says... they don't live as Jesus said they should, they don't walk with the power of Jesus said they should have.l - in other words is the Apostle Paul put it, they profess the relationship but lack the power to demonstrate it through daily discipleship. And this is the age of the Bible puts it of the 'ear tickler' Which makes us appreciate pastors like John MacArthur, Voddie Baucham and I might add to that Greg Laurie all the more.

I am so glad he added the context. It is kind of odd to me that these churches tell people it is ok to dance in church but do not allow parishioners to dance (tastefully) at a wedding.

I mean when Voddie talks about David being really excited about the Ark.. shouldn't we be MORE excited about Jesus? I agree, not normative part of worship but.. It's not a sin to and it might be.. a joyous way of expressing worship for some people. If I were to be natural and express joy, dancing is more likely than singing. Singing isn't a way I express joy at all. I never get so joyful that I just start spontaneously singing. But I might get so joyful I start spontaneously dancing, and it could be at an occasion that .. moves other people to sing it'd be more likely to move me to move.

There are some forms of dancing there are sinful and some aren't.

Saying you can't dance is church is not biblical unless someone is offended by it. Jesus nailed the law to the cross but let's still add law. What sense does that make?

Don't be divided church. If dancing makes a brother stumble then don't dance. If your heart like David then dance with a congregation that is uplifted by it. I think some have a problem with it because of the lack of reverence some may not have. Worship isn't lustful.💙

I attended a charismatic church and they said David danced, so dance in church and dance is worship and then they banned dancing in weddings and they made an exception for 1 girl to have a daddy-daughter dance and nobody else was ever allowed to dance. Why encourage everyone dancing on Sunday morning and totally shun dancing with your father or your spouse at your wedding reception?

To say David didn't dance in church isn't right. Yes David did indeed dance in church. Yes he was outside, but he was in front of the people. The Ekklayseeah. A religious congregation. God's people. That's the church, not a building. The building is not the church. The people who go to the building are the church. The called out ones. Yes David certainly did dance before the church. Psalm 149:3 "Let them praise His name with dancing" We have a hundreds of denominations and every founder says GOD spoke him and this is the way we should worship. I follow JESUS only because all these churches and ministers are flawed and act like they THEE VOICE OF CHRIST but all of them lack LOVE for their enemy or people of different faiths or sexual orientation. It's okay to say that it is wrong but where is the love of CHRIST?

I believe the issue is the requirement of it as a sign of "true" praise. Thats the problem. I mean we have renamed a whole genre of music as "worship music". Is that kind of music and performance the right way the Lord is worshiped? I think an emotional experience does not equate to how much praise or worship is going on.

King David danced unto the Lord. If he did it, I’m going to do it. So now! I don’t care what pastor or teacher say. As long as I am not twerking on no one but I’m praising and dancing to God by myself or around other members. It’s not a sin if it’s glorifying Christ and Christ is the center and not myself.

As long as the dancing is not sexually provocative or exhibitionistic then there is nothing wrong with dancing before the Lord in praise and worship (Mk.12:30) unless you’re a common or garden prude?!. I believe when you dance before the Lord it is a holy praise filled with joy and thanksgiving. It is not dancing as the world dances with its gyrating body movements filled with sexual energy.
