What I love about No Doubt is that Gwen and the guitarist were in a serious relationship when they started the band, but it wasn't until after they broke up and she started writing songs about their split (like this) that the band really took off. Must have been uncomfortable at times, for sure, performing heartbreak songs alongside the person who inspired them. Edit: 5 years and 120 replies later, and people are still correcting me that it was the bassist.

I became a young father at 18... Me and my daughter were always together day in and day out for the first 3 1/2 years of her life....things didn't work out between her mother and me... everytime we would see each other we would play this song all the time......and when she was 9 we used to sing and I'll play this song on my guitar and she would perform to me and do everything gwen was doing n the video..we lost touch for many years cause I was having a hard time with drugs and alcohol due to depression... and every now and then she would text or send me this song to let me know she loves and misses me...😞💕💕..and remind me we would laugh and play and hear this song over and over alot when she was little....she's in her late 20s and is a mother herself now and every now and the she sends me this song letting me know how much she remembers the beautiful Bond we had when she was little....this song has super sentimental value to me as a young man and father......it will forever mark my bond with my princess....💗💗💗💗.... She made me a grandfather just this year and she played this for me after giving birth....how I love the way music touches everything you feel inside... Watching this again in 2024 and I see how eerily prophetic this music video really was. Gwen getting the attention and going solo and so on. Both the industry and the band always knew she was the most valuable asset.

This is one of my favorite of Gwen's looks, she has a way of making red lips and bleached hair look so natural and that's a rare gift.

Talk about foreshadowing. Gwen slowly pushed to the forefront, and then the removal of the guys, leaving her alone. Kind of exactly what happened. I've ended a short but intense, confusing relationship 2 days ago (01/09/23) and I feel so embraced by this song. Welp, this was Friday night, now it's Sunday morning and I still haven't got a text. I guess it's really over. Last night I went to a pub with my friend in a failed attempt to drink the overwhelmingness away and that was when I heard this song fully for the first time. I've been listening to this song on repeat for the last few months, because I just love the vibe and nostalgic ND feeling. Now that I'm going through a breakup the whole song just hits differently.
