Of course it's on RU-vid! I recorded this award show on VHS when it aired. I watched this performance probably hundreds of times on that tape. I came here to see if someone had uploaded it, and of course they had! What a great song, Gwen has always been so cool.
I remember watching this live the day it aired when I was a sophomore in HS. I had no idea who No Doubt was at the time and I fell in love with Gwen from this performance. The next day in school in my Spanish class I asked a girl who was into the Rock style if she knew who the crazy girl singing in pink hair and a wedding dress was and that’s when I found out! I asked my parents to buy me the album.

I look back now and see how deeply religiously right winged this song is. The product of a woman who was taught that marriage is her true destination in life, and to also have children. Despite how widely successful they became, not having that thing that you were taught growing up that made you fulfilled as a woman is such a manipulative belief system. Given that she was raised in conservative Anaheim, it’s so easy to see how she felt the way she did. Her marrying Gavin makes so much sense now.
