PERFECT....ever since seeing unplugged i wanted to view the entire drum track being played...awesome job...makes me want to play again just for this song...
Great cover, also Sean is one of the most underrated drummers ever. This song may not have the most technically insane drums but imo it’s some of the best drums ever written, fits so perfectly with Jerry’s music and totally elevates the song. Sean has always known how to perfectly write his drums to match Jerry’s music.
It is said that drummer makes or breaks a good unplugged gig… Being that their unplugged is the best that ever happened, I think I don’t need to speak any further…
No wonder I was losing time when trying to play this. I was missing the snare between the two high toms. I would try tom 1 2, then bass and it would always be off. Thanks for the video, its one of my favorite drum covers I've watched!
An outstanding version imho because of your grasp of the technical aspects of that groove, your time and the sound you're getting out of the first two Tom's and your splashes. Thanks for a great job that's been most helpful to me. Please share the exact size of those 3 Tom's up top and the batter and resonant heads you're using.
toms are 8x7, 10x8, and 12x9. at the time, i used Remo Emperor Coated on the batter side, and Remo Ambassador clear on the resonant side. I've since switched to Evans Heads. For tuning, check out Gavin Harrison 19 days: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LMGGE2AdGZY.html
No offense taken - I appreciate the feedback. It's actually a triplet, not a quad. The fourth note is the eighth note after the triplet. I agree that the original recording sounds like single stroke 16th note triplets. It was easier for me to play a RRL triplet and get back to my right hand on the hi-hat eighth notes. YMMV. Thanks for watching!
This just goes to prove I can still be intrigued by a drum cover other than one made by a long haired woman with large breasts. Good job my dude keep rockin!
Not a musician, first drum cover I ever watched. Just wanted to see what's really going on there in this song, normally videos of the band don't give this insight. Thanks!
Love this track and this drum beat really sticks out for me, it sounds so happy and fun to play :) I'm not a drummer but I've always wanted to try, I do play guitar though. Nice cover!
Nice job incorporating that mini china into the fills. I've no clue how sean made that sound on this album because I don't think he ever used a mini china
I think he he used a Splash and the side of his stick if I had to guess... I'm probably wrong but if you're sure he didn't use a China that would be my guess
Drum tracks and entire songs like this are PROOF that cannabis can greatly enhance the creative process. NO WAY was that drum track conceived by a sober person :D Great performance too OP!
I have been playing this song for years, I love the way you have the camera set up. This is a great tutorial set. Best cover I have ever heard. Got any other songs?
Nice drum set by the way. I know nothing about drums but love how great drummer can add so much to music. I don't know if you are familiar with Neil Peart from Rush; if not you should check him out. His drum set is custom made from really old wood but he said in an interview that he likes to strip down to just the basic set sometimes, even though he does like the synthetic/electronic gadgets too. Good luck and keep playing!
