If you love Japanese food and Japanese people, this traditional restaurant and other restaurants like this should be on your lisit when you travel to Japan. To many travellers and foreigners weird restaurants and local restaurants like this in Japan might be something scary to enter but in this video I show you that anyone can enter into these shops and have a great time. Even someone like me found a lot of people to talk to and it seemed like the japanese people enjoyed talking to me to even though I'm just a weird foreigner. You'll also get a small glimpse in the everyday life of Japanese people for that short period when they aren't working as salarymen haha.

Wait! You mean to tell me there’s places you can eat in Japan outside of convenience stores and McDonald’s?

I've taken it as my mission to tell people to visit shokudos after I saw bunch of tourists in Osaka line up for some chain curry restaurant. Sadly so many people follow the flashing English menu available signs like it's a buglight and they're a moth.

Haha thanks for commenting and watching, so glad to see that people enjoy these stupid videos I make. This time I had no doubt that my stomach was fine since I trust the nice people at the store with their cooking :D. Whale was definitely good, but I still think I prefer good beef over anything else, oh and salmon, god damn salmon is good.

That's a lovely comment, thanks so much. I've tried to make my Japan videos be about the "real" Japan so that I show the good and the bad because I feel like most people just glamorize Japan. It can be tough in here at times, things might not be like you expect BUT it's still amazing country and I think the best place to travel in the world. So glad you enjoyed the video and commented, hope I see your comments in the future too!

I still am embarrassed of filming myself outside because people will ALWAYS look at "what that guy is filming", but I'll keep on trying to get over it, I just don't think I'm interesting enough and in general I don't like being on camera but since I'm doing these by myself, I got to be on camera haha. It was also really scary to film inside the restaurant because I really don't want to film random people without their consent, but I asked all the people many times if it was fine and everyone was fine with it so all is good. Hopefully I can film more stuff like this in the future because I LOVE going out to old restaurants and talking with the people there but I haven't done videos about it simply because I haven't had the courage to ask random people if I can film them. Maybe in the future I will. Thanks for wathcing and commenting again, love you buddy.

I've been going to Japan for 25+ years. As much as possible, I avoid places that say "English Menu!" or something like that. Most of them are clearly aimed at tourists.
@Paahtis
@Paahtis 3 месяца назад
Sometimes they are good of course but in general I feel like tourists don't know what's good or don't know how to demand good service so they can serve almost anything and stay afloat. Amsterdam for example was like that, the food got SO much better once you went outside of that touristy city.

Haha thanks so much, still don't think this is close to anything good yet. The audio and video is pretty bad but if I start making money I'm gonna fix that part. Been getting a lot of subs from viral shorts but sadly short views and subs don't translate into views for regular videos which is why I still have hard time breaking 1000 views on a video. But I keep doing my best, you do too Angry dad!

7:07 It was perhaps good for a fruit though. But I think that lemmon is prepared as extra sauce for meat. You should squeeze it on the meat. I think you've looked lemmons with tori karaage many times.

It was a grapefruit and it was part of the teishoku set as the dessert, I am 99% sure of that :D. I do love though when they have lemon for the cabbage in restaurants, freshly cut cabbage and lemon on top is so good with rice and meat.

Many restaurants have English menus, it has nothing to do with locals not visiting those places. An exception would perhaps be establishments right next to hot tourist spots that have English plastered all over the store fronts, some of those will have higher prices and perhaps not as great food quality (for the price anyway). Great videos though!
@Paahtis
@Paahtis 3 месяца назад
Very true, but definitely if there's no tourists visiting those places, they won't even think of printing an English menu because there's no need. One time I went to an izakaya with a friend from back home and asked for an English menu so they could read too and the staff turned the place upside down to find a 15 year old printed English menu with dust on it 😂 that one definitely wasn't used in a while.
@JanMyler
@JanMyler 3 месяца назад
@@Paahtis yeah, that's a fair point. I had a similar experience, staff in one izakaya deep in countryside insisted on giving me an English menu, so I took it. Then looking through it and the Japanese one… the English menu had old prices (lower) and some meals were not even on it.

All those fish living in ocean, got to live free until they were fished inhumanely…and Greenpeace is real silent about it.
@Paahtis
@Paahtis 3 месяца назад
I mean as far as I understand it can be slightly cruel to get the whale out of the ocean but thats a short amount of suffering when compared to those factory farmed pigs who live in a small cage unable to move their whole life. Not saying two wrongs make a right but as long as they are not going extinct or anything I think in the grand scheme of things whaling isn't that bad. Then again, I really do not know anything about this subject.
