No fountain to see here at Hastings

We had recently seen pictures of this fountain in Hastings, I thought I would make a video for you, so we went to Hastings, very disappointed, as you see it's not working and doesn't look like it has been working for some time. There were also some other videos of working fountains in Hastings, we went to see them, they were all filled in with gravel. Here in Viareggio (Italy) they had them filled with dirt because they couldn't keep them running. in 2015 a new Major came and he started to give them maintainance and now only a few are left with dirt with a plan to restore them asap

Yes, it is sad, but even fountains cost money to maintain and run. Often this is forgotten

@@lynda46 Yeah but i don't see how filling them with dirt was a good idea, just leave them empty so whoever comes next can decide wheter to give or not to give mainteinance to them :(

They can't leave them "Empty" they will fill with rain, which will turn stagnent and attract mosquites.

@@lynda46 Here they have a drainage system, but since they didn't want to give manteinance anymore they filled them with dirt and planted trees into them

Yes, it is sad, but fountains cost money. No money = no fountain

Yes it is. But often fountains are built, and folk forget, fountains need to be looked after.

Like most public fountains, they are either filled in or left to decay, why would it be working now? The council had no money then, they have probably got even less now, (Oh, and I am not driving 222 miles (Round trip) to find out)

It's a real shame... Don't make a fountain if you can't keep it running, my neighboring city has a lot of dead fountains that get maintenance to start running again during election period and then get abandoned. It's quite funny, sadly the ones that I find the most interesting haven't gotten any maintenance in a very long time, coincidentally those same fountains are the ones furthest away from the municipal government building. 🤔
