Hosta is like candy to deer and snails.

You've hit the nail on the head! Hostas are indeed like a gourmet meal to deer and snails. They absolutely love the large, tender leaves of this shade-loving plant. If you live in an area with a large deer population or have a significant snail or slug problem, growing hostas can be quite a challenge.

Gentle spray of "Deer Out" once a week or so starting as soon as they peek thru the soil in Spring works great for my garden.

Lilly of the valley are quite invasive and deadly to dogs. They take over quickly.

Nice video but would be better if the names of the plants were pronounced correctly.

Lily of the valley are aggressive. Will take over your yard must be contained

These plants will out grow and kill other plants that get in their way. Do not plant into the ground. If you must have them be sure to only plant them in a container. Took me years to get rid of this plant. Use great caution.

Lily of the Valley (Convallaria majalis) is a beautiful plant, but it's also known for its aggressive growth and can spread quickly under the right conditions. It's indeed best to plant them in a contained area or use some form of root barrier to prevent them from taking over. It's also worth noting for pet owners that Lily of the Valley is highly toxic to pets due to the cardiac glycosides it contains. Therefore, it should be planted in areas where pets do not have access. Thank you for bringing up this important point and sharing your experience with our community. It's tips like these that make our gardening journeys all the more successful. Happy gardening!

Thank you for sharing your experience with the community. It's indeed true that some plants can be quite aggressive in their growth habits, out-competing and even choking out other nearby plants. Your advice is solid - using containers can be a great way to enjoy these types of plants while keeping their growth in check. It's also a reminder that successful gardening often requires a balance between aesthetic appeal and understanding the characteristics of the plants we choose.

Do you think the aggressive growth would be good for forests?? I’m thinking of growing a flower garden in a forest patch with my honeybees

Need help with squirrels 😢 that will not stay out of my flower 🌺 pots I just started back out gardening 👩‍🌾 and I find the signs of them digging in my pots very upsetting thanks 🙏 so much

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with squirrels. They can indeed be quite the nuisance in the garden. Here are a few strategies that may help: 1. Cover the soil: Place a layer of decorative rocks or pebbles over the soil in your pots. This can discourage squirrels from digging because they have a hard time getting to the soil. 2. Use repellents: There are commercial squirrel repellents available that you can apply to the soil around your plants. These typically have a taste or smell that squirrels don't like. Alternatively, you can use a homemade repellent by mixing a little cayenne pepper with water and spraying it around your plants. Be cautious, however, as some repellents might be harmful to certain plants. 3. Install a scare device: Things like wind chimes, motion-activated sprinklers, or an owl decoy can help scare squirrels away. 4. Provide an alternative food source: This won't keep them out of your pots, but it might distract them. You can set up a squirrel feeder away from your pots with corn or sunflower seeds. Just be aware this could attract more squirrels to your garden overall. Remember that it might take a combination of these methods to effectively deter squirrels. I hope these suggestions help and that you see improvements soon. Happy gardening! 🌺🐿️🚫

I’m trying peppermint oil on cotton balls placed in my pots. I also layered rocks and small stones to the pots. It’s helping. Good luck to us both😅

How many words can you mispronounce in one short video? I lost count because there were so many. 😮

@@pampearce1242 It's a computer-generated voice, so if I'm being rude to anyone, it's to the computer programmer for not proofreading and editing his/her creation before submitting it for viewing and listening by the public. I've seen - heard, actually - these constant errors in speech a lot lately in computer-generated voice-overs.

@@kathleenlandolt5936 I am quite certain that this is AI 8:30 generated and not creative content made by a real gardener with experience and passion. If I am correct, we should all be concerned. It undermines true gardeners who put their minds and hearts into developing you tube videos. It also undermines them financially - look at the number of followers!! So far, the ones I have watched are reasonably accurate, but there is no creativity and the potential for disinformation is there.
