As a guy who survived from a motorbike accident, I strongly recommend you to wear a full face helmet like in the video. When I had an accident, my head slammed onto the road and dragged about 10 meters across the road. I couldn't stand up straight away, luckily another driver helped me to get off to the sidewalk. When I took off my helmet, I saw large scratches on the face of my helmet. If I didn't wear a full face helmet, 100% sure my face would be torn. I fully recovered from my injury about a month after the accident.
@TheCuriousNoob

@bored588

full face helmet, spine protector, leather, hard padding, basically give your body the best chance possible to survive should something go wrong, if nothing goes wrong nothing lost, if something does go wrong, atleast you know you did everything you could. better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.

@TheCuriousNoob
@TheCuriousNoob Год назад
@@101jir if you invest in full gear, you can survive a 200mph accident as long as you don't hit a solid object these days. My buddy wrecked on the track going 150mph and skidded safely and walked away. Granted his track pants that had armor were completely destroyed due to the friction burns but it was $1k well spent. The same goes for jackets that have that head support armor. Yeah it makes you look like a hunchback but that literally saves hundreds of lives per year.

@hettywatts5604
@hettywatts5604 Год назад
Exactly what I was thinking- it demonstrates the need for a helmet but it isn’t a very accurate test for that reason- the body would absorb some/most of the shock and also prevent as much spinning and repeated impacts
@skettl

exactly, the theoretical rider also wouldnt slide/bounce as far as the head did, since there would be so much more friction against the road
@delta8989

Snell approved helmets have saved my life/brains twice on the street (plus prevented numerous injuries riding off road 2, 3 and 4-wheelers)... Both of the street get-offs were 60+mph high sides and (very lucky) my worst injuries were getting knocked out once and a separated shoulder (plus the dreaded road rash). My head/helmet hit hard enough to knock me out the first time (so I don't remember hitting the pavement) but the second time I for sure remember my forehead (HELMET) hitting the pavement first/hardest and (not kidding) after tumbling who knows how many times, that helmet was "damaged all the way around, top to bottom". So I have ZERO doubt that wearing a GOOD HELMET has saved my life more than once...

They were in a white charger and rear ended a Tahoe at 140+ mph according to the Detroit news articles reporting on the police stuff. Idiot should have worn his seat belt at 140+ mph in a drag race on public highways though, so I guess the surviving passengers got a real hard lesson. It still haunts me sometimes when I see chargers go flying by on the highway, and I just hope me and my family aren't going to be the next victim of stupidity.

I wear helmets when even riding bicycles. Not just because it's legally required in Australia. But because it only takes one small impact for permanent life changing brain injuries or death to happen. Yeah, one didn't save me last week when I went over the bars on a path (grazed my arm pretty bad), but it's better to be safe than sorry. You can more often than not walk away from a graze with little more than pain and some blood. Same can't be said for a brain injury.

I’d like to see a retest with the ballistic head attached to some sort of crash test dummy, I think the amount of damage caused by the roll would be significantly reduced you’d see less damage than chucking a decapitated head down a highway at high rates of speed. Either way all riders out there should be taking every precaution for their safety ride safe.

@jakeaaron

Yeah, you would get much more "sliding" and body roll and less "ball bouncing down the street" physics. I also don't think the strap would have failed on the first helmet since that point of impact wouldn't be possible. Though I do agree that i wouldn't put as much trust in that strapping system in general. Still a good reminder as to why you should wear your helmet though as all it would take is that first impact to do you in.
@vandinroth
@vandinroth 8 месяцев назад
This was my thought exactly. The test isn't remotely valid as the gforces on just that head make it spin much more causing much more damage than if it was attached to a body which wouldn't allow that same level of spin down the road. It's a known fact that helmets are only like 30% effective. And statisically speaking there are more deaths by people wearing helmets than not. That's not advocating for not wearing one as at a lower speed crash it will definitely save your life. At 60mph, getting tboned by a car? Yeah, wear all the stuff you want, you aren't making it out of that. 35-45% of motocycle crashes are THIS type of crash. Your odds are NOT good in that type of crash regardless of safety gear if you are at highway speeds. The type of damage seen in this video is something you'd never experience on a motorcycle. The more accurate test would have been to launch that head at the pavement or a wall at 60mph. I think you'll find the results are fatal pretty much 100%. Some foam and plastic ain't gonna save ya. The neck breaking alone.....

@oceanbytez847
@oceanbytez847 Год назад
I do support helmets, but i've always found seatbelt and helmet laws to be awful. People will actively defy the law even if they value themselves, but if you leave it up to them alone they usually make the correct choice. No need to run a nanny state if you know what i mean. Besides, it is their life and thus their choice on what risks they take. If they can choose to ride (which is already a exponentially more dangerous activity than driving) then they can choose a helmet or not.

One day he was out in the country, fell off his bike and landed head first. They think he lay there a few hours till a passerby found him. It was a few months of recovery later and he was being sent home completely paralyzed on one side of his body. The doctors thought he was lucky to be alive. Although I ride push bikes, helmets have saved me a few times. As you guys said, when the head is attached to a body, there's only really one impact, but the hardest hitting. Cycle helmets can split on impact, but the head is still well protected. And it takes plenty more hard hits for it to not look like a helmet anymore and yes I have tried, and it's way more than 20 heavy blows

Don't feel weird promoting your products through your channel. You make helpful videos which we can provide support to through various means. Informing us of some extra merch so we can get an item instead of just sending over some money is always great at the end of a video! It lets newer channel members like me know you have merch.

This should be a mandatory clip in schools, before they start driving around on scooters etc. Very good.

I use to ride street bikes with out a helmet. After seeing my friend go down it changed my entire outlook on proper riding gear and I spent lots of money on some serious quality riding gear. Eventually saved my life.

A river of blood to the music of An der Schönen Blauen Donau... Both pieces of your pick in classical music were hillarious. Not using a helmet is in contrast no joke.

Its a pretty great motivator to wear a helmet. Most modern minibikes will do 50mph easy. I'll be wearing mine always from now on while riding.
