It worked on my 2012 cascadia exactly word for word as he described. Knocked my socks of with how awesome it was to find this video. Was looking for the fix for the parked regen and found the answer to all the other gremlins. Thank you a million times over sir!!!!
Thank you ! I was traumatized by Cascadia lights and engine brake flakiness 3 years ago . Kissed the ground when they put me in a 60 Series glider ! Still have nightmares about being skunked by this very issue. But I feel empowered by this gem of knowledge
I am fuming mad right now. Had this same exact issue but my flashers were blinking and wouldn’t cut off as well. All after a heavy rain. I spent over $3k getting this 🤬 fixed. Got the flashers stopped but I’ve been riding the past 6 months with no bunk lights and no jakes only to come across this video at 2am this morning. Idk how I got here to see this but thank you. I got up out my bed and tried this and it worked. I thought it was a serious electrical issues which is what the dealer said. I have never been so ready to fight somebody in my life than I am right now! Will never buy another freightliner in my life!
The problem isn’t the bunk switches itself; it’s the AC vent above it, it’s causing moisture to drip down on the bunk switches causing short after short, take the bunk switches off immediately after. Short and you’ll see water on the switches. It’s a bad set up. You can silicone the switches after they are dry and re plug them in, or if it’s too late and bunk switches are shot due to getting too wet, silicone new wires or you’ll have same issue.
You really helped me with this video I kept taking my truck to the shop, no code 🤔 I followed your advice and it’s back to normal Thanks for your help!!
Thank you Roland. I just did this to my 2013 Freightliner and it worked. Im in Florida now tryna make it back to California with this load and go home for acouple of days. My engine brake was not working but thanks to you i fixed it. I did exactly what you said. Thanks again!!
Thanks for this helpful tip. Having this problem and I'm being told it will cost an arm and a leg to be repaired. Heading to my truck right now to do this. Thanks again bro.
Had same problem with my 2017 cascadia . I watched your video and and yes u are right . I unplugged the wire from the switch and now I got jake brake working now . Thank you sooo much for posting the video. 👍👍👍👍
This video just saved me at least 300 dollars. I was at the dealership waiting on them to look at the truck and found this video. All the same problems. Only difference was, the wire I needed to disconnect was one slot over (2014). Problem solved. Ordered the bunk light switch, it's 27.00 dollars.
The AC vent above the bunk switch drips water right on the switches. So it’s gonna happen again. You can protect the wires but if you have the problem again, take the bunk switches off ASAP and see if they’re wet, mine were.
God bless you driver, did exactly that. Freightliner Cascadia 2014 and BOOOM! problem fix. LoL This been bugging me for two day. It shows on my truck as an engine issue but all it was is that the engine was not receiving the signal from the switch. Just order the rear switch. Thanks again
This video was extremely helpful as straight to the point appreciate what you did here now not like some of the videos that I was watching trying to figure this out you were straight to the point and very clear
You probably saved me $1k+ in diagnostic ass pain a year ago with this video. My bunk switch in the back had burned a trace from condensation, being right under the AC vent. Replaced switch, sealed switch box with clear tape. Engine brake and switches started working again, no more shorts. WHO TF HAS AN ENGINE BRAKE OF A $150K PIECE OF EQUIPMENT ON THE SAME CIRCUIT AS A BUNK MOOD LIGHT??!!
This is the soundtrack to insanity. Also, this video is priceless. My whole truck was doing a dance party disco today, no jake, no switches, no nothing. Lights going crazy. Right after a bad rain. On and off all day.
@@yoban360 hell yes it worked. the switches were fine, condensation had made the wall box that holds the switches arc across two of the prongs where they come out of the board to plug into the switch, switches for the cab dome lights. Got a new box, same old switches, wrapped the box in clear tape before putting it back in, no problems since july 2018. I want to know how in tf a cab light accessory circuit can kill the mf engine brake and marker lights, that's bs on another level
@@shatteredsquare I wanted to ask you because we had a bad rain day yesterday and my truck is literally acting how you described it in the comment. Lights acting up, beeping sound, etc. I’m scared somehow rain got in and got on the modules. But when you got the new one, did you change it yourself? I can imagine taking my truck to the shop, will cost me.
@@yoban360 no harness, it's the bunk switches for the bunk lights in the sleeper, the black box that holds them in the wall, a little black plastic rectangle. the box comes out with two tabs on the side then you pull out the switches like legos. my switch box had shorted across a trace inside. Put the old switches in a new box, gtg.
Absolute gold! Thank you for posting this. Still works on a 17 cascadia too. I found condensation from a/c vent above the bunk switches put a little green death on the plugs behind the switches. Of course Freightliner can't sell you a new plug, just the whole damn harness. Gonna hit em with some CRC when I get home and probably silicone
@@mattberg916 fixed mine, wasn’t the one in the sleeper but one on the dash. Had some green death on the power connector. Replaced the whole module and Bessel hood as new.
Thank you so much this fix my problem I went to several mechanics even the dealership no one could find the problem I would love to send you a little something to buy beer
I had no turn signals, no engine brake, no brake lights and no switches. It was 1 fuse for the "modular switch field" that you're looking at. I was trying to fix a power outlet issue and didn't put that one back.
Wow my problem was that I couldn’t do a Rgen and my check engines started to turn on till it actually turn my engine off . After looking around in you tube I did the same thing this man did exes my air switch was located at right of it. I took Out the bunk bed air out and I was able to to my Regine . Thanks for that video probably safe a few hundred dollars.
When I first tried this I pulled out the wrong unit. I thought it was the engine break cluster so no luck. Never had the engine break work in this truck. No Jake light on the dash.Today my bunk cluster started to go out on 2 lights in the back.i read it's from the condensation and sure enough my ac pipe is soaked. I'm parked so I don't know if the engine break will work.
My truck just started having this issue found your video unplugged it and just like advertised it temporarily fixed the issue however I have 2 switches in my bunk 1 for the top lights and 1 for the bottom lights. Which do you believe is the culprit.
Man such a shame… I have the SAME EXACT issue here. Did what you have done and more and cannot reverse it. Any info is appreciated: No engine brake or cruise control Flashers rear and sides stay on No dome light 2016 freightliner Cascadia 13 speed manual. Can’t find any blown fuses, have unplugged and cleaned a bunch of sensors with battery relay off.
Had the same issue number of times. Killing the power at the door entirely allows the computer to reset. Inadvertently left bunk AC on and caused trip. Killed the power toying with fuses and corrected trip.
You dont have a jake brake ,you have an exhaust brake. The difference is a jake opens intake valve continually and an exhaust brake is back pressure ... big difference
I'm glad it helped you. That was the shop at Prime Inc. in Springfield, MO. A lot of folks talk crap about Prime but my experience was they are one of the most professional bunch of folks I've ever been involved with.
all the sleeper light stopped working and some switch in the dashboard stopped working engine light comes on Freightliner Cascadia 2016 I'm just guessing dont know what I do Thank You
Is it the same for a daycab 2015 frieghtliner cascadia d13? My regen button doesn't want to work and also my engine break.. please any advice would really be appreciated thanks in advance..
