I can't imagine they did it out of the goodness of their hearts. What's the catch? I think if it had gone to trial it would look worse for the CIA...but IDK. He had to plead guilty to a crime he didn't commit. I don't think either side got what it wanted but I wonder what the motivating factor to do it now was.
