Even if they were acquitted. Also a toxicology test / drug screen may or may not be done upon death. I used to be a research pharmacologist myself, and I'm now a medical student. I used to know a few medical toxicologists. The law differs from state to state but generally a tox screen would only usually be demanded by the coroner. If the attending physician ascertains that a person has died of a heart attack, then they will discern the source of that cardiac failure. There are LOTS of cardiopulmonary pathologies that fall under the auspices of a heart attack. Eg if the person has CHD, then eventual cardiomyopathy or infarct will result. No need for a tox screen there. The death certificate (documented cause of death) needs to be very specific and accord with diseases categorised with ICD10 codes. You can't just write "heart attack" on a death certificate. Nonetheless, it would be a huge waste of time, money, and would extend the grief of the family of the deceased, if every physician ordered a tox screen before filing the death certificate. Specificity and accuracy regarding CoD is necessary for medical records and tracking disease patterns for public health, so we know for instance, about spikes in causes of death. Or about emerging diseases. Anyway I apologise for my digression. I don't follow politics to closely but Bill Clinton always seemed like an alright guy to me. When the victim is mentally prepared to report. I know a person who waited 2 months (actually, a fairly short amount of time). This was out of fear of retaliation, severe depression and...thinking she wouldn't be believed by police or others. And she wasn't dealing with a famous multi millionaire - just an average guy. One thing I will say, NEVER push someone who confides in you to go to the police when they're not emotionally or mentally prepared because they ask all sorts of questions that, while they're trained and being sensitive to the victim, can be humiliating and feel shameful. I am unfamiliar with the work of Mr Cosby but I am aware of allegations of sexual assault against him. This is the problem America has with freedom of speech - it seems you can say what you like about anybody with no consequences - in any sensible country - like the UK for instance - these things should come out in court rather than in the media - a court is more likely to ensure fair-play. The piece we see here is far from being fair and balanced - and it's cheap journalism too. I understand he intends to bring legal case against some of his accusers - I also understand that some accusers came back for a repeat performance.
