Didn't even know about this. Even if it wouldn't be for the lack of mods, performance, player base drop (and my absolute dislike of their decision) this would be the final and biggest reason for me to stop VRC. Hello CVR.
Virtual desktop still works as long as you use vrchat through steam. It was just poorly worded on the update, i have a friend that use virtual desktop and he has no problem playing on vrchat.
i try booting vrchat up by my computer, it does a whole bunch of launch errors and i have no idea how to fix them. unless i need to start steam vr to actually play it?
I wouldn't put it pass them to do away with Virtual Desktop entirely one day. Remember that the Meta Quest is gonna have it's on streaming camera in the future.
I use Virtual DeskTop everytime i play VRC and i havent gotten banned or kicked off the game i also have the calibrater for fullbody and it still doesnt kick me off like it says it would
I repeat the VR chat administration spat in the face of you and 23 thousand other users. Don't try to put up with it and wait for the promises that are spoken in a hurry in order to delay you, go ahead and develop another platform. ChilloutVR does its best to welcome you as soon as possible. Disrespect for a person as a person is the worst sin, we must not get away with this!
ChilloutVR has been so severely overwhelmed. My account there is all but unusable, and won't let me save or favorite anything at all. I have hope for them, and will very likely go with them with their welcoming NSFW avatar policy, but opened up a NeosVR account this morning. They upload very differently, and the best part of this is NO unity wars to make things work.
If youre going to implement an update like this, at least make sure it works before you roll it out. Beta exists for a reason, this should have been fixed.
I'm done with VRChat. This update shouldn't have been named the "security" update. It doesn't do a damn thing for that. It was the anti-mod update, and they did this at the expense of everyone who required them for their platform to function.
I don't even run mods but I'm a Linux user. They broke VR support for Linux with the EAC update. Yes, it still runs in desktop mode, but it will no longer play in a VR headset under Linux. Also, one of my other VR titles stopped working. So... I restored my system from an earlier backup, deleted VRChat while offline and then went online and deleted my VRChat account. My other titles work fine now!
this only affects oculus play through virtual desktop not steamvr. also, something that could hurt your performance dramatically using the steam version is synchronous spacewarp. make sure that that is always off if you are getting low fps on things like vrchat when going through steam using virtual desktop. if you are getting lag when you shouldnt be, go to your router and change the band to the highest locked band you can, not auto, and of course on 5 ghz. the highest band is because for some reason the quest 2 will not default to this, yet itll increase stability and insane amount.
cant you simply run vrchat with a -vrmode oculus launch command like beat saber ? haven't tried because i'm fine performances wise but maybe this can do the trick
@@RedPandaVR You can't. I tried and checked vrchat's documentation and you can't change which openvr environment it uses (unless modifying the game's files but EAC..)
virtual desktop still works for me, you just make sure your steamvr has "requires HMD" to false and whatever the other line of text is that needs changing in the config file.
this is rather upsetting... after picking up my headset and updating vrc and the headset itself after taking a year long break i find that i cant really play now, i had taken a break due to the whole eac thing and Mellon loader problems. looks like i will just have to find another game to play XD
This and the NSFW policy is making me seriously think of leaving VrChat or at least using both. I'm not even into ERP it's just having an avatar that can go nude can get you banned in vrchat even in private worlds which really pisses me off. Then there are those that don't want to see NSFW or those that shouldn't (kids) and there's literally no protection for them because the developers want to ignore the elephant in the room. Which is when you have the freedom to create, buy avatars that are human and mix them into a social environment, they will have parts. And when you have a social environment where people can hook up, that's just going to happen. You'll never be able to stop it.
I so agree with you. Ever since the standalone quest support there is SO MANY kids on vrchat now.. ChilloutVR has a mature content DLC that would prevent kids from seeing avatars like that in that situation while VRChat continues not doing anything about that sort of thing.. for YEARS.. its awful.
VD runs better than QL and DL looks arguably similar to VD anyhow without the 120hz capabilities. I have way too many hours in VRChat and recently all with VD with no issues. I have no comment about the people of the platform but I can say I have seen 2 naked avatars in a public world, and reported them, none of which were banned. I think this is one of those things where they "Mention" scary things to keep some people away, idk just a thought. Good luck!
You just need to uninstall you mod ( worst case reinstall vrchat) you won't get ban instead you will just get a message to uninstall the mods, but I think you will get a permit ban if you succeed in bypassing EAC
Hey could anybody help me out? Ever since the new update came out (eac) my computer keeps on blue screening everytime i launch vrchat on the oculus store with cable, and also samething on steam version. For some reasons it just boots up and then blue screens after charging EAC Edit: Oh and if i try desktop mode, it's fine everything works both versions.
VRChat/EAC could at least show a message to the user indicating why it does not start om VD. Not just not work, and leaving users to troubleshoot with no information.
I used virtual desktop before, but switched to air link when it came out, and for me it was a lot better and easier to use, and many people say the mic quality got much better too. but i have some friends with other resoults, so might not be the case for everyone.
Air link works better than virtual desktop now at least for me. Trying out some DJ stuff in VR where my DJ stuff is in another room forcing me to use wireless. I gave airlink a shot and I couldn't really tell the difference between that and my link cable. Which I know is wierd. Though is there even a difference between he Oculus store vr chat and the one on the quest itself?
The quest has less power than a pc so the quest version is lighter, which also means less visual flavour. A lot of worlds and avatars don't work on quest.
"Virtual Desktop works fine if you use it with Steam"... right, and im a Rift user who runs SteamVR inside of the Oculus app. i guess im SOL there, huh? VRC devs need to either fix this shit ASAP, otherwise CVR will be the new hub for me
Vrchat used to be a company that cared about response from the community but this doesn't sound like they a responding to the community... they are responding to investors
this is scepific to the Oculus PCVR store version of VRC IIRC. the steam version of VRC doesn't complain about VD since it can connect directly to the SteamVR API and not mess with the game at all.
this problem with virtual desktop takes away the only way to use hand tracking with the quest 2 in Vrchat ugggh break your own game vrchat is such garbage
You would think they would whitelist it or have a work around, I mean people spent money on it to be able to use their game. Like all that have to say is "sorry do it another way" ? Yikes.
The amount of problems that EAC has caused is so terrible that idk why people have hope for this game. Let it die and a new person takeover cause tupper and all of them don’t seem to care.
to give a bit of space, Tupper doesn't really have a choice in what he can say cus his views reflect the rest of the company so he can't do much except relay the devs actions on this...he's with us on this one trust me...
Imagine if the devs were so mentally unstable that they actually made big decisions at the first sign of an outrage... Like chill the hell out, it's been five days. And it's an early access game for God sake. This is not the first change to the game, and it most definitely won't be the last. All early access games have bad phases when new big things are implemented, and it's confusing and buggy and what not. No one is gonna care in two months.
@@69MrMaster69 I mean yes you could be right about nobody caring about this in a few months if they just remove this cus personally it was fine how it was...well not fine fine we now have worse performance then before wich is a big problem still and if they and im begging this happens after they add in all the mod features that should have been already in game that they remove eac entirely cus it wouldn't be necessary at that point.
@@romidawn722 How do you know how long everything was going to be fine? Wouldn't it be smarter to act before the poopoo hits the fan, rather than after it? VRChat has a 20-30K peak players every day. It's growing every year, and the only anti cheat they had, and had had from the start, was a report system. After dealing with all of the support tickets and reports, how much time do you think the devs had for actual game developing? It's a free game so it's not like they have unlimited resources to hire new people either. The things just simply had to be done in this order. They can't add a crap ton of mod features to the game before they have the time. It's going to suck for a little while if you were using mods, but that's just how it is. Now is a good time to go play some other VR games and remind yourself why VRChat is the most popular one.
@@69MrMaster69 ......tbh they definitely had time to add in these features before had they months to do so..yes they didn't have a choice to add the eac but they could have picked a better option for an anti cheat, they're peak was I believe 80k+ while yes its still growing...well not much rn since this bullshit of a decision was made but to I guess to put it bluntly vrc is or well was the apple of the vr industry, valve not being to far behind that but....they seriously had time to fix all of this in the first place so we wouldn't be haveing this discussion but because apparently they don't wanna do they're fuckin job right and left the mod community basically in charge for years to see this turn around is just...well pathetic on the devs side of things yk.
as someone who uses virtual desktop to play a majority of VR games, i dislike how VRChat no longer let's Virtual Desktop users to play the game. at this point we should just call VRChat "Chat"
Virtual Desktop works just fine when connecting it with STEAM......I just got off VRC a few minutes ago....I like using STEAM version because going through my computer i can go to PC or oculus worlds and my graphics are just fine....My PC I7-4790k---4th Gen but still very good processor 32 Gigs of ram ASUS 297-A Nvidia Geforce RTX 2060
I used Virtual Desktop for my pcvr, I try using it after the patch, launch the game and works BUT if you’re using fbt it won’t work at all. Have to use Airlink just for the fbt to work, it’s laggy and buggy too using airlink
You dont need to use virtual desktop. Just link your oculus to pc and it works like a desktop vr headset. Everyone is trippin and meming the drama. Oh noo crashers are gone boohoo...the game is smoother than ever for me now..
You do need virtual desktop if your a dancer otherwise the cord is a pain. Also, EAC doesn't mean crashers are gone? Crashers are uploaded through unity? People are still crashing worlds LOL
@@JordanVR But didn't they say you can use oculus air link which replaced the need for a cord? Personally I am experiencing much less lag and crashing compared to the last 3 years but perhaps I'm just confusing correlation with causation. Regardless of that I still think people are overreacting as I thought client mods where always against terms of service so now they are simply implementing the rules? Either way cybersecurity is more important that your virtual persona as the former can actually fuck up your life. Also they already listened to the community and released a bunch of new features that replace useful mods within the first week of this change, so I'm sure over time more will come. I think boycotting VRChat and moving to VRChat clones only fractures the community.
