The new one explains why the uglies were snitches- they aren’t killed as an execution, they see it as a peaceful death. Someone escaping would hurt their peaceful death, their children’s.

Something about the idea of living without your body, just being a head with a heart and lungs was especially horrific and unsettling to me

i love that she was labeled “exceptional” because she was smart enough to break the system. they needed her brains and her smarts. instead of killing her, they made her a part of the “model citizen” society, and she’s now a part of controlling it. i love this story so much

That last sentence the mom said: "You won't run from your monster, will you sweetie?" This might show that some adults actually know that they are in a Dystopia, but that they are already brainwashed to the point of not caring, or they are insane enough to support it.

the reason why she's exceptional is because she knew something was wrong with the city ever since she was child. She's hooked up to the core of the AI to generate ideas of supporting Autodale.

Me: *hears the music distort* I don’t like where this is going.

When people are exceptional and have so much to achieve, society will try to force them in and take the exceptional achievements for themselves and take credit for it. People who are "ugly" are not wanted, but those who are more than just "pretty" and exceptional are greedily preyed upon and exploited for the potential they have to further the goals of others even in real life.

The fact that the mother isn’t reading what’s on the pages is horrifying. It’s the key to manipulation when you can make someone think that they’re safe

Her Mother: *"You won't run away from your monster... Will you sweetie?"* Me: *_Slowly walks away from computer_*

Lady: "You won't run from your monster. Will you sweetie?" Me: *"HELL YEAH I WILL!"*

"We are safe here" Well yes, but actually no.

"We're safe here" is the scariest thing ever said in autodale.

What I got from this is that the ugly people are eliminated from society without given a chance, and the exceptional people never get to live out their full potential because they are forced to not show their true talents. Meanwhile, the pretty people are living their lives cluelessly without knowing what it really happening.

Wow if you look really into the last sentence when the mom says “you won’t run from your monster, will you sweetie?” Well considering that the “Uglies” or the adults actually support this standard of a society it’s like she is considering her own daughter to be the “ power source” as her daughter is “truly exceptional”

I love that she became part of the system only because she was smart enough to break it, they needed to figure out their holes so they added her to the collection

“There are no monsters here!” Your mask is easily one of the scariest things I’ve seen. I mean, imagine someone just standing at the foot of your bed just staring at you with that mask on.

I love how, in this, it’s described that there are no monsters in Autodale. Yet in Friendly Shadow, it’s clearly presented that the freaks see most autodale citizens as monsters.

Mother: ”You won't run from your monster....will, you sweetie?” Me: ”Miss you're the reason I carry pepper spray......”

Those who don't fit, are thrown in the trash. Those that are too smart to follow, are turned against their will, and become part of the machine.

There are no monster here. Actually: You can't sleep now, there are monster nearby.

The little things that make the dystopian energy even more impressive, like how the words that the mom says don't match the words on the pages of the book, make this so much better.

I bet you in the aftermath the robots were like: "Good job citizens you successfully rooted out the escapee, now back to the execution line!"

To think those labeled as "Ugly" would rat out someone exceptional, further contributing to the cycle. Despite every "Ugly" being put to death, it is profound to realize they too believe in the system. Perhaps that is what made them unexceptional, beliving in the system.

Monsters don’t need to look horrific… Everyone has a monster within but are you willing to face them?

It's so ironic... there are no monsters, i.e aliens, but the actual monsters are the "people" running Autodale. Love this series!

At 3:07, you can see the mom is pokeing out of the top of the screen some, and looking at us. This shows she knows something is going on and is a subtle hint that we should not be afraid of our monsters. Our monsters could be our family one day.

I wish this was a horror game. EDIT: JESUS CHRIST I KNOW WHAT HAPPY FEW IS, I SPECIFICALLY SAID I WANTED THIS IDEA NOT SOMEONE AND I KNOW THAT THE ANIMATOR MIGHT NOT MAKE IT, BUT I'D BE HAPPY IF A GAME WAS MADE WITH THIS EXACT IDEA

Theory: the kid who got read to becomes Friendly Shadow

Wait. The line: “You won’t run away from your monster? will you, sweetie?” troubled me, not just because is creepy, but because it was earlier stated that “There are no monsters here.” so... Why would the little girl had to promise not to run from something that doesn’t exist? (more specifically that is not in Autodale, but I think the point is there) And just to highlight, the mother said “your monster” YOUR, not THE monster, specifically. The mother knows her daughter is exceptional, and therefore she knows that her daughter will be use to “help autodale” in whichever away the exceptionals are used. The big woman at the back is her moster. Is the moster that hunts the exceptionals. (or at least the robots work to maintain her...?) To try to explain my conclusion i’m going to separate what I see as the 3 stories being told, that are kind of opposites but reach the same point: • The woman was scaping form the city, from her mosnter. “you wont run away from your monster? will you, sweety?” She was runing away from being exceptional, for what that meant to people. In Autodale, what she is doing is WRONG, she shouldn’t be scaping, she should face her fate, like the Ugly ones. They point at her and do the RIGHT thing based on Autodales standars. The robot captures her, SAVES her from its perspective, because the robot knows that she was scaping from her fate. • The girl form the book was outside the city (which i’m assuming is WRONG, as the story could be easily used to scared the kids and teach them to stay in the city) finds the monster, or in a figurative way finds out that she is exceptional and tries to run away from it because she knows what that means. The robots “saves her” and take her back to Autodale, were “there are no monsters” therefore she should be happy/safe, and meet her fate. - By “saving her” they are just giving her to the Big woman, which is what she wanted to scape form in the 1st place. What they are actually showing here is that the Robots judgement is the RIGHT one, and people should trust them, and therefore do what they say. This way maintaining the ideas and believes of the society. - I struggle trying to understand why, when the 2 robots save the girl the are standing behind a small wall and just pointing the monster with two lamps. I feel like there’s a deeper meaning to that but so far i’m taking it as a permanent separation the exceptionals suffer from society. Those two stories are basically parallels and help understand the story of the girl at the begging: • She knows she is expcional, and it’s afraid of the monster (HER monster) and the mother reads a books that at first look seems a story to make her understand that she is safe, but is actually a Story which object is that she knows she should trust the robots and follow them blindly, as everybody else does. That’s why she says “You won’t run away from your monster, will you?” HER monster is in the city, the mother knows that, so does the child, that’s why she is scared and that’s why the mother wants the girl to understand, she shouldn’t run because thats WRONG, Autodale NEEDs more kids like her because the exceptionals are given to the big woman and from there they help the city.

It’s sad to see that the girl in the boys book, was the same girl running from the monsters. Did anyone else spot that detail? I don’t think the creator made that a coincidence. It’s simply the process of elimination. The girl in her book was truly exceptional, but I guess after all that running from monsters she couldn’t stop from becoming a monster herself. Maybe the boy knows that it will happen to him. Maybe that’s why he’s scared. He’s truly exceptional because he sees beyond the propaganda.

I hate how the music goes mad creepy as the unsettling fact that instead of being the protecters the handymen are the monsters

I think the monster is the truth, the harsh truth is scary and painful, no matter who you are, you will always run from your monster.

In autodale, someone can do everything right, and anything that is ever asked of them, and still be killed for being something unique the system is unable to hide, and the everyone is perfectly okay with it because there is no one left alive, or left alive long enough, to show any better system or ideology, so they don’t have the desire to want something more except for the system that is forced upon them, and ‘ makes sense’.

I just realised that the put 3D and 2D animation together😱, they did it so well that I didn't even notice it🤯. Well Done!🙌🎉🎊

It took me a minute to realized that the mom was not even reading the full book...look at the words on each page (if you can see them) and compare everything you see to what she is reading...she cut the book short...on 1:19 it shows one last page full of words that she did not read...

Them: “There are NO monsters here!” Me: “What about the robotics?”

it’s scary how monsters don’t have to mean beasts rather it can be corrupt leaders or technological advancements like in autodale

I just wanna say, I watching this, and I saw the run cycle for the girl which looked robotic, and then I saw friendly shadow and I saw how much you’ve improved at everything. Your doing a amazing job mate, keep it up!

If only life were that simple, everyone seems so happy.

The reason why the "Uglies" or "Freaks" pointed out the "Exceptional" was because even if they were rejected they are taking down someone else too If you were going to your pit of doom and saw someone escaping wouldnt you want to point them out because you were shunned by them

I work up in the middle of the night, at 3:30 in the morning to watch this. And it was worth it.

This entire series is giving me an internal conflict because I love robot characters even more than human characters, but the robots are the bad guys so I can’t like them, but I want to, but I can’t. You see what I mean

I've got a small theory. Whenever something out of the ordinary happens, like the extraordinary girl and the friendly shadow happen, they get rid of them and then make some sort of media thing so that people don't feel frightened/inspired by it. Like the storybook, and radio show.
