I learnt from a senior dentist who has been practicing for 50 years. The very last layer of composite he doesn’t cure it…. First he gets the patient to bite down then he cured it while they are occluding. Then tells them to open up and fully cures it. After that no adjustments needed it works like a charm.

That would be a very good mark for sure but I'm sure it would result in contact with saliva and lack of isolation

I use this technique for canine risers but there are a few reasons I don't use this for posterior daily restorations- you've inspired me to make a little video about this - thank you!

@@araznaser1570 haha I’ve never seen him use a dental dam but hey 50years his DA is amazing and they keep it as dry as heck. I think the outer layer doesn’t really affect it as that layer is exposed to saliva anyways once fully cured. What do you reckon?

Hello Dr Jaz the video was amazing. I have few questions 1) when doing occlusal fullings sometimes my filling got so much high than j have to spend so much time to adjust so, how to avoid it? May be the answer is measure lowest point to highest point with perio probe 2)But when cavity is already there than how can you measure it? As it happened with me recently restoring lower both 7’s my filling was too high that i spend almost half hr 3) After prep cavity i do get idea where will be central groove? Sometimes it moves away from its actual position. Si how to avoid it?

Hii everyone. Are there any tricks for doing a composite restoration when you can’t achieve adequate moisture control?
@protrusive
@protrusive 11 месяцев назад
Hi Doc - nowadays with the application of PTFE tape we can achieve moisture control in areas that would have been tricky before. It depends on the reason for the poor moisture control?
@nessa7855
@nessa7855 11 месяцев назад
@@protrusive thanks for the quick response. I will definitely look into how accessible that tape is The reason on my part is limited resources. Most of the funds in dentistry in my country go to Maxillofacial and oral surgery

good news@@nessa7855 is that PTFE is the cheapest thing in dentistry! It's plumbers tape :)

@@protrusive I looked it up and was shocked you meant plumber’s tape lol. I’m absolutely gonna get that. Thank you so much 😊

Hello doc what do you think about Dentists hiring influencers for thier clinic? Is it unethical? We have so many here in the Philippines. Trying to gain patient trust using fake influencers
@protrusive

of course, using fake influencers is disgusting practice!

I know each case and each dentist is different. my question is how long do you usually book for a premolar or a molar deep class 2?
@protrusive
@protrusive Год назад
a standard 'easy' DO on a molar/premolar will take me 45 mins. Anything deep or complex will be an hour. I am slow, but I can give my best that way
@ZACY1234
@ZACY1234 Год назад
@@protrusive i find that 1h for a deep/complex class 2 with all the checking and controlling you are doing is extremely fast! Chapeaux 🎩
@protrusive

@@ZACY1234 lol I reckon 80% of the time I run 10 mins late
@cwtag
@cwtag 8 месяцев назад
Is that 45 minutes of chair time (including rooming and turnover), or of operative time?
@TheDutchGuyOnYT
@TheDutchGuyOnYT 6 месяцев назад
@@protrusivewow, in The Netherlands I only have like 20 minutes to do. Even the 4-faced restoration. It’s included the anesthetic. A DO is priced at 74€ excluding 18€ for the anesthetic. I could take 45 minutes, but earn nothing.
