I just big chopped. I’m planning to do them every 2 months to make sure my routine is working. I’ll probably decrease them over time, but I want to catch sign of breakage early. I’m not concerned about the growth. I’m concerned about the retention.
I just don't check because I've been known to be uncouth with my hair habits, so I definitely refuse to face the consequences of my shenanigans by doing length checks 😅
I do length checks quite often. I also take pictures sometimes then you can see how much your hair has grown. I saw a picture with my hair after blow drying to my back it wasnt even bone straight. But it looked dry. I realized my hair could be much longer if i give it the right care. But I dont have a problem to grow my hair to me the issue is caring for your hair the right way and the length will come. Conclusion: the length is there you just have to retain it with good care patience and consistency!! Using natural products..knowing your hair needs ect is important.
Great talk. I don't do them that often, but i'm seeing progress, I usually check with photos, since i have a pretty good idea what the length is when i stretch it. When I shampoo my hair tends to loosen its curl pattern, so once again if its passed my shoulders i'm good. Thanks for the topic.
That yellow hat looks fantastic on you!! I don't bother using the tape measure unless I'm measuring precisely how much to cut. It's too fiddly otherwise. 4:53 Hard agree! I've decided not to check my length until the end of the year to stop myself obsessing. 7:12 I think occasional length checks would be okay, like if it gets super long to classic or knee or something.
I used to do them very briefly, then I stopped for a few years then started doing them again. At first I was all about health and thickness and I knew the length will come with it however when I dealt with postpartum set back, that triggered the hair pulling to see the progress lol and I haven’t stopped since. I’m also not too too obsessed with length anymore right now which was one of the reasons I stopped too cos I thought why is everyone so obsessed with the hair pulling. I’m out 😅. Now I only want healthy length. We’re not holding on to damage hair for the sake of waist length which I see so many other naturals doing lol
I remember the first time I saw a YTer doing a length check I thought it was the strangest thing. It never occurred to me to do one. Certainly, I understand now why it is done, but it isn't a practice that I picked up as a part of my routine. It isn't something that I feel is necessary for me.
5:08 Used to check monthly but with time I’ve reduced to once every 3-6 months. Just last month I told myself I would reduce to once or twice a year. Constant length checking definitely gives a certain level of anxiety and frustration especially if positive results are not showing.
Length checks 😂😂😂 Anyways, i dont really use measurements but i do snap alot of pictures and sometimes when I'm going through my pics then i will notice the difference in length😊😊 Thanks for the enlightenment ❤❤
Length checks are exciting, I can't do mini braids as I will be constantly checking, I have to cornrow it away. You're looking beautiful today skin is flawless and that yellow beret is 🔥.
Length checks 😩 Nahhhhh 😂 it drives me into depression 😂 The few times I tried, I saw little changes and I was like what the actual heck 😢😩😂 So I just gave up 😂 The hair will grow at its pace abeg 😂 Let the hair breathe 😅 That's why it's called a journey 😊
Hi there. I have done many videos on edges. They have a whole playlist of their own! You can use Rosemary, teatree, coffee massage etc but I think gentleness, avoiding tight styles, sleeping on silk and moisturising are more important.
