My nighttime urination went from 4 times per night, to none, after just 3 days. In another video on this same topic, you connect this even more to insulin resistance and recommend keto. I was not prepared to go that far. But I decided it would not be hard to just avoid the sugar gang (sugar, grains, and starches). I did not avoid them completely. But I reduced them significantly. After just 3 days, I slept through the night without needing the bathroom even once. And every night since then has been the same, rarely ever needing the bathroom at night. So I decided to continue avoiding the sugar gang. After just 3 weeks, my E.D disappeared. And after 3 months, I noticed that my belt had gone from its largest setting to its smallest one. I have almost no fat now, even though I have been eating more fatty cuts of meat, on purpose, as well as eggs and real butter. I am feeling better than I have in ages. Thank you Dr Berg.
@@akibjabarbhat9589, are you saying that you frequently have urges to urinate that are too strong to resist, or that it just trickles out on its own with no ability to stop it? The only real difference between those two things is that, with the first, you feel the urge and cannot resist it, and with the second, you don't even feel the urge, there's just no control. The first would be some sort of spasm of the bladder any time it's not empty. The other would be either no muscle control to stop the flow, or no ability to sense the presence of urine in the bladder. I'm not sure it would make much of a difference in the overall effect. But it might make a difference in tracing what the problem is.
I had problem with an ulcer having pills for almost a year and nothing Dr say keep taking omeprazol and guess what nothing. Until Dr berg say take cabage juice and guess what 5 day now is gone so amazing.
Very interesting, there is an old saying: "Breakfast as a King, Lunch like a Prince, and have Supper like a Pauper". This proves they knew about these tips for health, years ago! Thank you.
I don't know no about that. I got to say Dr Mandall is my internet doctor. And Dr. Bobby Price. But I like this suggestion and I've been trying it anyway. Thanks.
This is so true! Snacking is the issue for me. HOWEVER, I have also discovered the link between sleeplessness and frequent urinating. It’s the food that keeps me awake, and being awake prevents some mechanism that shuts off the urge to urinate when we’re in a deep sleep.
Dr Berg, there is another important factor related to frequency of urination that is commonly ignored by many. This is the outside temp and amount of heat loss from body. Higher the amount of heat loss from body, for example in winters, higher the frequency of urination. So keep your body warm during sleep.
Totally disagree. While a warm room may prevent urination, it's been proven that a cold (or cool) room is much more conducive to sleep. Cut back food and drink prior to bedtime and maintain a cool bedroom for the best night sleep.
Thank you Dr Berg for telling people the truth on how to stop the nocturnia madness! You are sweet and kind person! Unlike my doctor who told me it's ' normal ' to get up many times a night to urinate when I asked him about that problem as a teenager! Now I can finally get rid of this nocturnia torture!
Yes, many doctors are so ignorant. I have tried what Dr. Berg said, IF (Intermittent Fasting) and Keto diet - not super consistent - but it has helped me a lot to stop getting up at night. I will do this more religiously because I believe this affects my health in som many ways. Hope this works for you. All the best!
Could the doctor(s) be telling lies or be deficient in their knowledge about a solution to 'Nuctunia' ? I'm confronting my doctor with this honest facts from Dr Berg here that works for many.. God bless Dr Berg 🙏 I so pray
I mean, even Dr Berg doesn't really know. I've been following his advice on this video and others, and have for sure lost weight, but none of his advice has had any influence on my nocturia. Just a heads up. These are very generalised advice videos, nowhere near as specific as an actual doctor.
I watched this video a while ago, adapted my diet accordingly, nocturia decreased. I’ve slipped back and nocturia has increased. I do think you should keep reminding yourself of these tips!
Doc Berg is a legend! Been doing IF and been sugar free for well over a year, so I just watch these videos as a healthy reminder of why. Thanks so much, Doc!
At 56 years of age, after shifting to a low carb diet ten years ago and combining it with a moderate intermittent fasting scheme the last couple of years (approx eating window: 8.30 am - I get up at 4.20 am - to 18.30), I have gotten Nocturia down to once every three nights on average. Futhermore, I have low cholesterol (despite eating a lot of fats), low blood fats, stable blood sugar, healthy blood pressure levels, and most startling of all; little to no pain in my neck despite massive osteoarthritis originating from 3½ decades of heavy steel construction work. My body seems to have become inflammation free. I know it is purely anecdotic evidence, but as far as I`m concerned, I have to conclude that simple sugars are poison, only to be used as spice and treats, like alcohol, and carbs as such should be kept to a minimum.
I came back to say thank you , Dr. Berg. For the last a few months or so I have been getting up two sometimes three times at night. After watched your video, I cut off my night time tea and snacks, nothing for me after 7pm. I have been having good sleeps since then, not even need to get up once.
This works! I am 60 and was 270 lbs. near the end of May 2023. I normally urinated 3 times a night and then again early in the morning. It was horrible. But I started a Low Carb OMAD and walking daily lifesyle on May 21, 2023. Today in November 4, 2023. I lhave lost 65 lbs and I'm now 204. Best part of all, I dont get up in the night to urinate at all! It totally disappered from my life, along with my weight and belly! I will not stop my plan until I hit 170, a total of 100 lbs loss. I have 35 more lbs to go!
About a week in, and I can definitely see a difference! I routinely drink a lot of water and had tried stopping that before with mixed results. So, I started eating dinner between 5 and 6, and stopped drinking water after that. No snacking. In 7 days, I've gone from 3-4 times per night average, down to 1. Thank you Dr. B!
I’ve been watching Dr Berg for 10 years . Back then , I was type 2, arthritic, grumpy andj overweight I followed all Dr Berg’s ..advice. I’m now in the best shape , mentally and physiically . Cheers Pal John Uk
This was randomly recommended to me. I subbed because of it. I used to urinate frequently at night, almost hourly. I recently started intermittent fasting, part of which meant I was no longer eating after 7 PM. It didn’t occur to me until I watched this, I haven’t been urinating at night since then.
This is awesome ! You're advice actually worked!!!!! It took me three days....only three freak'n days to stop getting up five times a night to piss. YOU DA MAN !!!!
Absolutely worked for me. Within a couple of weeks of starting keto, my sleep issue was cured - for a year I had been getting up every couple of hours and dreaded going to bed. 10 weeks in now and my T2D symptoms have all gone with blood sugar now under control and not spiking so I dont get hungry. Have lost just over 41bs/19kg in that time. Another 90lbs to go so early stages as will be spring/summer 24 before I hit my goal, but an amazing start and grateful for discovering your keto vids
I've always had issues with this until I started the keto plan about 12 weeks ago. Since then my nighttime bathroom trips have been cut by 80%, at least. I also feel much better. Oh and I have lost 22 lbs so far too. Thanks for getting me started!
It's the first thing I noticed after 1 wk of keto, followed by less ridges on my nails, more restful sleep at night and less tired in the morning.......that was after 7 to 14days of zero carbs and zero sugar (except for the stealth sugar I found in my bacon🤬🤣)
I’ve had this issue despite being on keto. I’ve learned that low estrogen can also be a factor. As I am a poor aromatizer, adding vitamin D before bed not only resolved my nighttime urination but helped how deep I slept.
@@MisterScalper interesting, going give that a try for sure, thanks for sharing. I find the comments are equally important as listening to Dr. Bergs advice.
Dr Berg! It works! I’m a 65 year old female living in the UK, and I usually get up at least twice in the night to pee, sometimes three times which is most annoying. I sceptically, (should have known better) tried your suggestion and even though I woke at 3.30am I didn’t feel the need to pee and went back to sleep. In fact, I didn’t need to pee again until 12.50am the following day! Now that was a welcome surprise! I wasn’t able to stop drinking totally after 6.30pm, but only had sips of water when there was an absolute need. I am so pleased with this result and will continue to use your suggestion as it has changed my life. Thank you so much you are brilliant! I love all your videos. Lots of love and positive energy to you and your family.
Yep, I can confirm this as a 50 year old male. Going Keto reduces your evening thirst! I can pee up to 10 times a day but the keto diet reduces it to 3 or 4 and, crucially, I can go all night without needing to go.
I’ve watched many videos on you tube about prostate/urinary issues. I tried this and it made an immediate difference. I was a nighttime snacker, and I mean every night! I stopped 3 days ago. Here’s what happened….I was getting up 5 or 6 times every night. (I write a journal daily so I track it obsessively) The last three nights I got up 2 times! Not bad for a 67 year old. I know it may be too early to attribute this dramatic improvement to stopping night time snacking…but I am anyway. Thanks Dr., this really does work!
I just came upon Dr. Berg's video yesterday on cataracts which was incredibly helpful. Now here is his video on urine frequency. Just yesterday I went to a new doctor and had blood tests ordered for testosterone ! I will definitely follow his advice this week before my next appointment ! Thank you so much for your videos. I look forward to amazing changes in my health. So grateful God led me to you!!
I'm 53 and have lost 38 lbs in past 4 months fasting and hiking and feel so much better. I have no problem not eating now but drinking is another matter as I always drink something right up to bedtime and I'm usually up 3 times a night so definitely giving this a try . Thank you and God bless.
@@vivekthorat2504 that's not up to me but The Lord Jesus Christ who has started me on this journey 3 years ago from depths of addiction to where I'm at now all glory to God .
I have done that before not drink fluids late in the evening & it is a big difference far as not getting up at night & getting a complete sleep. You are so awesome Dr. Berg 🤗
Ever since I learned from you eating carbohydrates late at night can cause frequent urination, I stopped and my problem is completely gone away, thank you so much.
I've been following you for a few months now and so much has helped. Especially the cabbage and arthritis connection. My hands are much better in just a week. Thanks so much, Dr!
@michaelstraw5064 Please can you tell more about cabbage and arthritis connection. Are you saying that eating cabbage can better arthritis condition? Thanks a lot
I'm 50, 53 kg in weight and have been going through this problem for a decade or more. I think sleepless nights are the main cause of thinner body size. It's my first day that I'll start with this routine. Let's see the impact. Thanks Dr. Berg! And also, thanks to all of the beautiful souls here for your honest comments.
@@larssonk22 the problem is: I couldn't stay without a glass of water as I need to wake up to late hours which makes me dried up. As a result I need to wake up at least once in a night. But yes, controlling every little urge to pee has worked better. The more you go for the more you feel like going again.
It is the opposite for me. Since I eat late dinners and snacks I am totally overweight, craving for sweet stuff. I have to go to the bathroom every night and I wake up hourly. I usually come home from work very late, so thats why that started. I will for sure try that advice and stop eating late. I hope I can make it. It is very addictive.
OMG thank you so much, Doc! That all makes so much sense. I have been overactive as long as I can remember, and it only got worse with age. Checking in today after seeing the video yesterday morning. I am taking a three-prong approach: reduce carbs + reduce caffeine (drastically) + no drinking after 6 pm. I am already on a no grains, 18/6 IF diet for a few years, and more than ready to kick it up a notch! Couldn't be more stoked! Went up only twice the first night, which is a great improvement already. And I love the calmness in body and mind, instead of the caffeine jitteryness. Thanks again Doc!
Don't follow the 6:30 PM rule. Everyone has different sleep schedules. Stop eating and drinking 4 hours prior to sleeping. If your sleep begins at 12 midnight, stop eating and drinking at 8 PM. If your sleep begins at 4 AM, stop eating and drinking at 12 midnight... and so on.
One might say that's good, but I love to sleep in a full belly, I do OMAD, and I eat as one of the last things I do in the day, even in the rare time the Mises let me being Freesky with her , that happens before dinner And I sleep like a baby
Doc, we thank you for all the help and time you give to us. So, what causes frequent passing of water during the day? It is really disturbing me especially when i am in church. Funny because when i go out shopping i make sure i don't even have breakfast to avoid drinking tea and it works very well. On Sundays too i don't drink nor eat anything, but i frequently go to the toilet? What could be the cause?
I too eat a whole lot before going to bed! When I look at the animal kingdom all animals eat and then sleep! But it kind of makes sense what Dr Berg is saying. I am going to try not eating before bed. I don't know thing go 4 hours before sleep I will try at least two or three now.@@bernhardjordan9200
I have been on Keto and IF for just over 1 year now. It feels so good, the biggest surprise is, for the last 2 months or so (maybe a bit longer) I have to get up once or twice a week to go to the smallest room :) Before that it was at least once or twice every single night. Keto and IF has changed my life in so many ways. TY Dr. Eric Berg :)
Dr Berg, About 2 years ago I was experiencing insulin resistance and my HbA1c reading was 5.7. Soon after that I took up intermittent fasting and I got results, such as weight loss, not needing to take a nap in the afternoon or getting hypoglycemic. My last HbA1c, 2 months ago, was 5.2 but my urination frequent has been 2 to 3 times beginning 2 months bag. Previously I slept through the night only needing to pee in the morning. 0n top of doing 18/6 for int fasting, I also do 24h fast once a week. Could you lead me know what is the possible problem? By the way, I have seen cut sugar from my diet and cut down on process carbs. Thank you in advance.
I cannot fully endorse the claim that having surgery to remove an affected prostate gland would not assist in relieving nocturnal urination. In my personal experience, I underwent TURP surgery in December as I was getting up 4-6 times every night. Since then, there has been a significant improvement as I am now waking up only once during the night. Though I can roll over and not have to go. It has been a blessing to be able to sleep through the entire night. Thanks to the surgery.
Well, this worked, no more waking up in the middle of the night. What a difference this makes in my sleep cycle. No more sleepy eyes while I read a book... I think this is such an important factor in my overall health and well-being., and to think I just attributed this condition to old age. I wish I could get this information out to more people who need it.
I'm a 63-year-old man and have been getting up every two hours (or less) at night to use the bathroom for a while. Two nights ago I followed your recommendation and didn't have any drinks or snacks after dinner (not an easy thing for me to do, I might add). The effect was immediate!! I got up only once that night to use the bathroom, and that was after being woken up by my cat 🙀. Same with last night. Thanks Dr. Berg!!!
I was suffering from frequent urination at night almost every 2 hrs, this affected my sleep quality very badly, since last week followed your advise of finishing my dinner by by 6.30pm with amazing immediate result, after long time got up only once , that is after 4 hrs. For the last one week with the same results, there are no words to thank you enough, Hope thousands of people will benefit from this amazing but simple , cost less advise.
I was diagnosed 2 years ago with chronic prostatite. 9 months into keto following Dr.Berg videos and i cannot be enough thankful. No more pills. Thank you.
I just hope they don't take his RU-vid channel down. The government hates this kind of health topics posted on RU-vid. I've learned a lot from Dr. Berg's videos.
Dr. Berg, you are a God send. I have to urinate at least 4 times at night and I always snack and drink before bed. I have had low blood sugar issues - hypoglycemia- for years. I will now eliminate carbs and eating/drinking before bed. Thank you🙏
Not eating and drinking after 6.30 p.m. is the best advice here. I was trotting to the ruddy loo at least x4 a night. SO boring! Now, not even x1. Thank you from Great Britain Dr. Berg!
Hi Dr. Berg.......I am really not surprised that you have 9.34m subscribers.......your videos are extremely well presented and on point and of huge value to your frequent viewers (like me !)....Thank you so much and God Bless you and I wish you all the very best in life.
Thank you for the knowledge about nightly excursions to the washroom. I've started listening to your educational videos on health just a few months ago, and I always benefit from your sharing of important health knowledge to daily living. I often thank RU-vid to for opening up the world to the public. I was born in the 1950's and life and technology has changed so much it is fascinating just to think of it.
Dr Berg, I have struggled with frequent urination (day and night) for most of my life and have been looking for the answer for years. No one has ever mentioned insulin, but it makes sense! I am going to do your recommendation and will report back with my results. Thank you so much! :)
I can actually sleep all night. TY Dr.Berg. I do use a CPAP but that is until I can lose some weight. I was going 10-12 a night at my worse. Literally every 3o min. I slept over because I was so tired. Now I go once a night...when I wake up. To keep from snacking at night....eat 2-3 eggs. An omelet is perfect! This is a great time to have some veggies as well. You will stay full and not want anything else. NO SUGAR AT NIGHT!
@@lindab.3551 7 is my cutoff time for eating. So, to keep feeling satiety, I boil eggs in advance and keep them in the fridge or I make an omelette with veggies and cheese. The latest I have eaten a late nite snack is at 9 pm. A slice of cheese or eggs. Deviled eggs works as well.
Man, I’ve had this problem for 15 years and you made sense of it in 15 minutes. Thank you so much for the information. My insulin must be through the roof! 8 times a night! Almost 2 gallons of water a DAY here!!

Thankyou Dr Berg! Not drinking water stresses me out so I'm happy to hear you say it's ok to not drink in the evening. Ever since biology class in high school I've been paranoid that whenever I'm not drinking my kidneys are suffering.
Do your own research too. I think "doctor" Berg, as welcome as his advice is, is just a chiropracter. His insight may be correct. Some of it is common sense. Yet we are all different. I'm trying it too, just don't throw the baby out with the bathwater! lol
@@stefanschleps8758 Alot of advice is also built around the assumption that the patient does not do vigorous exercise. That changes all/most of the formulas around how many carbohydrates, and how much water, one should consume and when.
The Dr recommends to drink much water and foods, but no after 6:00 oclock, he said at least 5 hours before you go to bed. If someone is bedding at 10:00, then eat and drink water at around 5:00. Pm.
Hey Dr Berg. I'm a huge fan of yours from Pakistan, where many people love listening to you and follow your advice. I've tried to not snack or drink water after 8:00p. I would get so thirsty and find myself drinking water even around 9:00p. I will try no snacking and no water after 6:30p. Also, I need to drink enough water during the day so that I won't have to in the evening. Thank you Dr. Berg for this video.
Very interesting in that this problem is always assigned to a prostate problem but in the end it's an insulin problem at the root of it. Good on Dr. Berg for always educating his viewers on the exact causes of common physical problems, and, most importantly, providing a healthy solution to the problem. Healthy keto and fasting has really helped me.
@@moisheweizman that’s an interest point, yea my sibling has been on a keto diet forever yet hasn’t seen much relief, n lost a ton of weight n sugar levels are normal but this issue has overwhelm their life, will bring that one up n have it tested.
Well it makes sense after watching Dr Bergs videos as he stated the link between high insulin levels and cancer because the insulin is a growth hormone, well I never knew that until i heard Dr berg say it.
I've been following for a few months and finally coming across this particular video . I've been IF 18-6 and cut out my crux which was sugary sodas for about 2 months . I didn't realize until watching this that I can't remember the last time I've had to get up at night to empty my bladder. At least 3 times a night and never correlated the diet change to being able to sleep through the night. Thank you for all of your helpful tips and videos. I'm also about 11 lbs down.
Good and interesting information. I have found in my own case that diet has had a big impact on sleep. I went vegetarian about a year ago. After a couple of months on the diet I found I needed about 2 less hours of sleep a night, and also I was no longer chronically thirsty and therefore drinking too much water leading to nocturia. I have gone from waking about every 2 hours to waking once or twice a night, a big improvement for me. Since I am not diabetic I figure the diet has lowered my cortisol levels. Interesting about the effect of elevated insulin on adrenal hormones and urinary frequency. I am an RN, I will be able to use this info to help my patients. Thanks Dr. Berg!
Thank you DR. Berg, you’ve answered my question. Was wondering why I kept going during the night.I almost always eat fruit before bed & I’m always drinking throughout the day even at night.
Thank you Doctor, I got off the narrow path over the last two months, was doing really good, lost 20 pounds on the High fat low carb diet, and my glucose went from 133 to 90 when I started picking up some bad eating habits and put on 10 pounds 😔, back on the saddle again. Thanks for what you do.
Excellent presentation and video. You are 100% correct here. Snacking is front and center. I had a PAE done and while successful, required me to follow your spot-on recommendation for me regain full night sleep. Thank you Dr. I’m sure im not the only one that appreciates your work. Cheers!!!
Thank you Dr. Berg. I was urinating so much at night over the last year and my OBGYN didn’t know why. I started researching and the more I looked at your videos the dots connected. I have high blood pressure. My primary doctor told me that I needed to go on a metabolic diet because I am Pre diabetic and my cholesterol is slightly elevated. I have been following your keto videos and started the ketogenic IF. The third day the night time frequent urination has greatly reduced, the brain fog has reduced, my thinking is more clear and thanks to the bulletproof coffee the appetite has reduced! I can’t wait to experience the other benefits of Keto IF lifestyle! Thank you Dr. Berg. 🙏🏼
Dr. Berg this video is an answer to my prayer to God when he showed me this morning to stop snacking at night this video confirms what the holy Spirit showed me this morning thank you Doctor Berg!!! And I am a healthy 74 year old!!
Thank you for another great video :) I'd like to share an interesting experience that happened to my wife and me. We've done juice detox in a camp for two weeks (first-week cleaning bladder, second-week liver), drinking 6-10 litres of liquid per day. After the first few days, we were able to sleep through the night without waking up; yes we visited the "rest place" a lot during the day. I feel like you can have as much water as you want, but the amount of spices in your food triggers the bladder too. Less spice in my food and less salt also help me sleep. Sometimes I feel like our body is another person with "needs" that we need to control/educate. Side note: we prefer vegan foods, trying to live a "healthy-life". Wishing you good health and strength to keep doing your great work.
Four times. FOUR. TIMES. LAST NIGHT. I walk around in a continual state of exhaustion. I've even cut back on my prescribed diruetic. But I have nearly ALL of those issues you mentioned, Dr. I am a "late eater." I eat brunch/lunch around 12-2 pm, so then I end up eating dinner around 7-8 PM. And of course, drinking fluids with that. I will definitely try this and PRAY that it works. I haven't gone a night without going to the bathroom for 2 years, and it's really wearing me down!
Reducing glucose spikes is also the important. Eating greens / veggies before your carbs will prevent glucose spikes by 50%. Another hack is having a spoon of apple cider vinegar once a day before your large meal. Same effect. Also when having deserts (fruit) add yogurt to it because the yogurt coating will also reduce Glucose spikes.
It's not always bad or wrong to have a momentary awakening during the night. It can be perfectly normal that you awake without interruption or seeming cause. Sleep patterns - especially if less regulated and normal can be in two or even three separate blocks. You may get up for the toilet, go get a drink or just turn over fully awake before returning to sleep. If you live without a clock driving you or regiment forcing when to eat, sleep or do anything you'll notice a natural part of the night is to have short breaks in sleep. You'll also reach a normal equilibrium over sleep, how much and when. This idea you should sleep right through is yet more imposed ideology. The thing is with natural sleep it's not all at night and they want you working during the day, so rest or sleep during work is not productive. So they want you to get all your rest at night in a condensed and solid block. Without a clock driving you you'll be amazed how much the light level, food intake, activity level all regulate naturally your sleep patterns, and there are many not just one. They change by season and your activity level. The forced fixed regiment used now is for productivity purposes to force everyone onto the same sleep and activity pattern, which doesn't always fit. Those are the ones that suffer most. A lot of our insulin and diabetes issues are less about diet and more about bone idleness, and I say this as one of the worst offenders - we've been granted so many labour saving devices we're literally too inactive. It is that simple. I'm not talking about going running for no reason. I'm talking about an hour or two of general physical activity at least a day. The more the better...
I'm old enough to remember when doctors tried to tell people things like this, but the people didn't listen. They wanted pills instead of making changes. We were truly addicted to our junk food. I'm glad to see people waking up and taking back control of their health and doctors like you still fighting the good fight.
After 1 month of not eating 5+ hours before my bedtime and also not drinking any fluids 5 hours before bedtime I have finally stopped waking up to urinate. I've woken up only twice within a month. Thank you for this info! It's changed my life. I'm finally getting much better sleep and my quality of life is so much better! Update: 2 months after this comment I now only drink water when thirsty. My kidneys no longer hurt and I can eat and drink fluids 2 to 3 hours prior to bedtime and I still no longer wake up to use the bathroom. My sleep has improved so much. 6 month edit: I still no longer wake up to urinate. Occasionally once every week or two I will. Also for anyone wondering I'm 34 years old. 1 year edit. Everything is still good as it has been. The best thing about not waking up to urinate is better sleep. I hope this comment has helped. I only drink water when I'm thirsty and I don't drink or eat anything a few hours before bed and that's good enough for me. I eat my last meal about 7pm or 8pm and go to bed about 11pm or 12am everyday. 2 year edit - Everything is still good. I still do everything the same. I'm not dehydrated by any means. Thanks for the insight. 👍 Please include mouth taping during sleep as a possible solution as well. I'm a 63 year old woman who has been carnivore for about 20 mos. now (0 carbs, OMAD/2MAD, IF, & longer fasts monthly). Because my carnivore WOL has cleared up all my primary issues, (A1c currently 5.5 [I'm aiming for 5.0], weight at 165 from 240lbs.) including what used to be chronic sinus problems, I began mouth taping (Health Coach Kait) to increase the nose breathing positive benefits, and after 5 nights I was sleeping through the night instead of getting up 2-4 times. I'm sure individual results may vary, but it's worth a mention. 🥰
I'm on a CPAP machine and my sleep doctor doesn't recommend mouth taping. I asked about it because I get leaks and I wake up and remove the mask, during the night. I have a deviated septum that makes it difficult to breath through my nose.
@@clbudd This appears to be a case where "Individual results may vary. 😁 Not knowing anything else about you, it's hard to respond. I, too, had sleep apnea and was given a C-PAP machine. Because of my lifestyle change I no longer need it so the mouth taping works... for me.
A lot of people though find it very hard to sleep on an empty stomach, myself included. I suppose I'll just have to try and condition my mind to think otherwise. Good video as usual - cheers Eric.
I have been searching for an answer to this question for a long time and I have been listening to what you have been saying about not eating or drinking after 6 pm at night and it has worked for me. I can now get a good nights sleep. THANKS.
Thanks Doc, this worked so well for me, from 5 times a night to almost none. Also I seem to have lost a few unnecessary kilos and I am in fact more energetic Love your channel..
@Dr Berg thank you for all this information! It has helped give me a great insight. Even though I don’t eat after 5pm (for over a year now) and I never had a prostate, I have come to believe my nocturnal is a stress response (I have also had nightmares and even night terrors after the horror of my brother killing our father a number of years ago). Based on your prior recommendations about nightmares, I have increased my vitamin B consumption and that has helped. I also notice I do not have any nocturnal when traveling nor do I have any issue during the daytime. It seems to me after watching your video that I must be having a cortisol spike at night due to anxiety. And I want to try to resolve this now before it gets worse. Thank you for all you do. There is so much information in the world but most of it does not seem as well informed and straightforward as what you present. I really appreciate your insight and approach and I have been able to rely on your channel to increase my knowledge about health and better figure out what is best for me.
@@rosalindr4975 Melatonin can cause cause bad dreams. It did for me. I don't recommend it for her. Suurendering my life to God, salvation, and taking Jesus by the hand, began my healing journey , from trauma. It's been an AMAZING Journey so far 🥰. Definately not easy, but still beautiful.
Love your very informative videos and you will always be supported no matter how they try to silence you. You are better than any regular doctors that they DO NOT HELP at all just give pills how SAD IS THAT. Do not worry the good always will win over GREED.
Thank you for your helpful videos Dr. Berg. Having great results on keto; entering my third week and my weight is down to 174lbs from 188. More energy, greater mental clarity, and sleeping better. In addition to eating more leafy green vegetables, I am regularly drinking a combo kale, spinach, cucumber, and celery juice. Also, I turned all the lights out before bed; that helped sleep and nocturia symptoms enormously!
Keto diet is horrendous - Causes high stomach acidity which extends into the following day. It may be relatively good for those who gobble sweets and high-starch foods, alcohol, and overeat, but is NOT otherwise at all good. Call in a few years when needing someone else's kidneys.
@@briseboy Keto isn't for everyone. There isn't a one size diet fits all. It just happens to work for others. Try not to be so negative when sharing your opinion, you could totally still be a mature adult when you disagree with someone.
@@briseboy Weighing in at 161lbs as of this morning and feeling great. My recent bloodwork has all my numbers in the normal range; previously had elevated blood glucose and liver enzymes. Pot belly is gone and my six pack is gradually appearing.
@@briseboy The human body secretes hydrochloric acid for digestion. The symptoms of acid reflux are caused by too little stomach acid, not by too much. 😁😁👍 Also, consuming meat has been found to actually be beneficial for the kidneys, even in those who have kidney disease 👍
I can confirm the Docs findings. It's a big deal for me post-rectal cancer. I leak at night and wear a pad. If I load up on snacks at night, 3 pads. No snacks, 1 pad. Thanks, Doc.✌️
I am a 48 year old male with these issue. A keto diet helped a little. Pure carnivore for 2 weeks with intermittent fasting and I was peeing like I was in my 20's. It was an amazing change.
Thank you Sir, so informative, I have that issue and you broke it down so clearly and accurate. I am a night person and work nights so the eating time is not the same for me. I am guilty of snacking as I was eating some cashews while watching this video at 3am. I need to correct this and all your help and advice is really appreciated. Thank you, God Bless🙏🏾
Dr. Berg, thank you for another inciteful and inspiring video! After 3 months of healthy keto, 18 hours/day of IF , I've lost over 40 pounds and I urinate much less at night (zero to 1x). I still have a slight issue with urinary dribbling, but I am sure that this will go away in time. I stopped taking Stelara for UC that was in remission, knowing and understanding that my previous SAD regime was the cause of my body's inflammation. Thanks again from Canada!
I do all of those things but I do drink 2-3 litres a day typically. The problem with that is your body gets used to always being hydrated. When I wake up at night I take at least one sip of water. There is no way I could go all evening without water.🥵
did you really need to watch a video of a random guy on youtube to work out that drinking too much before bed would have you get up at night to pee? Really???
Wow, this video was so informative. I'm going to follow his suggestions to see what happens. I eat snacks EVERY night and go to bathroom at least 5 times a night. I can't wait to try this to see if I will sleep better, so excited. Thanks Dr. Berg!
Fantastically useful video as I do - from time - suffer from getting up to pee quite frequently, (4x last nite), and it is, as u said, very destructive to my energy levels, my memory, thinking and causes me extreme fatigue. I was starting to understand that I needed to address the issue at root cause, so your video was not only fantastic, but fortuitous. Thanks very much.
@@clairemacy5675 yeah, I was diagnosed with this extraordinarily destructive condition and did in fact use a breathing machine over night for years. But I was still waking up but in an even more agitated state - perhaps adrenaline ? - that, in the end, I stopped using it. I did speak to the monitoring clinic but they were dismissive of my feedback and said it wasn’t the machine. And then (more) Tory cuts to the service and then Covid... But thanks very much for the suggestion, much appreciated.
