This makes me miss my dad greatly. He was a great angler and wanted to pass down his knowledge to me, but unfortunately I just wasnt interested as a kid and into my teens. Now that he's gone I regret every time I didnt go fishing with him. Now in my late 20's im finally into fishing and theres not a day that goes by that I wish I was fishing with my old man. Thank you for having your dad on the channel. Invite him more if you can. Nothing like an OG passing down knowledge to his son and sharing that with us. Truely, thank you.
Thanks for sharing your story moises, this really resonated with me. I feel very lucky that I can go fishing with my dad when we can. Happy to have him on the show with me ... remember that your dad is right there fishing with you every time you go out because you are partly him as well
Keep up the fishing bro, you’re dad will be lookin down on ya just like mine. Lost my dad when I was around 1 now 13 and I too wish he was here to fish with me, but keep it up and I wish you tight lines!
Powerfully story! I'm 50 n my dad passed last summer! To this day I remember fishing adventures from when I was a lil kid! And I also rem so many lessons just like this, how to tie diff rigs, taking care of equipment, how to clean the fish we were gonna keep, proper handling of fish, etc etc! Sorry to hear of ur loss, but like Skipper said ur father is there with u now n so proud that u've picked up fishing! That part of him that liked fishing is in you n that part of him is u! So he will be with u 4ever! N that's what is amazing bout fishing, u r always learning n always a chance to make memories mentoring some1, doesn't have to be Father son , it can be ur friend , it can be some kids u see out fishing with 5/0 hook n a rubber worm 10" under a giant white n red bobber lol Teaching n passing on my knowledge has been some of my most memorable n rewarding experiences n if u do that in ur father's honor it's even better!
I never had a Dad to show me things but thank God for a great Mom that took me fishing. Cherish Every moment with your Dad while he is here and you'll have no regrets when he is gone. Be blessed and keep tight lines
I love how your dad says, " no, no you have to do it for yourself so you learn" then points out problems but keeps it in your hands. That is a 1st class dad teaching method, let you make mistakes and help you learn from them!
I agree with you totally. My dad unfortunately never took interest in spending time with my brother and I, but the way you wrote your comment is exactly how I strive to be with my two sons.
Definitely one of my favorite episodes. I have a 12 year old son and he’s finally interested in fishing! Lost my old man when I was only a few year old. I’ve been into fishing ever since I could remember. Hoping to make memories that my father and I couldn’t. I’ve learned so much from your channel and I’m looking to pass on the knowledge your father passed in to you. Keeping fishing!
Commenting for the 2nd time, THANK YOU FOR THIS KNOT, you have no idea the change this video made to my fishing, give huge thanks to your dad and tell him around half a ton of fish have been caught because of him, and not ONE break failure in the knot.
I hope you know how special it is to have a father like you have and the relationship you two have. Spend as much time as possible as time goes by in a flash. Your dad is awesome. Fathers passing down knowledge is something that is being lost in all cultures in our modern world. Cherish it and do the same for your kids and start when they are young.
I have seen many ways to tie a dropper loop and this is, to me the best way. Less tangles, better bait presentation. I appreciate & have great Respect for the old folks for imparting their knowledge and experience.
You have. A great dad I enjoy watching y’all. When he said I should have let you mess up. So you would know. ❤️❤️💯💯he’s a great dad. AMAZING teacher Thanks. For the invite into your life
I have used this method so many times since I’ve watched this video. One time I was on a canoe flaring in Angle Lake here in Washington state I hooked TWO bass at the same time but I wasn’t able to bring them in. They both fought themselves oF my hooks soon as they came to the surface . Since then I’ve used thiS thank you!!
LOL!!! Your Dad has a great sense of humor. Man what I would give to have my Dad teach me simple things like knot tying and fishing. You are truly blessed. By the way...Awesome video!!
Nice; as a father of two who are about your age, I’m really happy to see you having your Dad be part of your focused endeavor and letting him teach you...so cool!
You know you're learning from a wise master, when you are struggling to find words to explain what he's doing to your viewers! Also, I like how patient he is in showing people, who are less experienced, how to do something complex like this. Although it's probably easy for him!
Great "knot art", great dad. Great tutorial. I've watched your videos for about 2 years or so. You're a fine fisherman, but you are a product of your upbringing. Kudos to dad for raising such a fine young man!!! I will continue to await your next video.. well done sir.
Nothing like fishing with family. My best memories are fishing with my dad. Wish he was more patient and calm like your dad is but I still learned a lot and had a blast fishing as a teen. 20 years of fishing off and on, I'm finally getting back into fishing buying gear/tackle, watching your videos to learn new things to get me and my family onto some fish. I want to share the joy I had of fishing with my wife and 3 year old daughter! Keep making great videos!
Glad to see a father son teaching together. My dad bailed on my family when I was 16. I have 2 siblings that are younger than me. My brother was 7 when our dad left. I'm 65 and my dad is still living but he never communicates with us. So, Hey Skipper you are blessed to have a great dad who is willing and eager to join you in your fishing. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make sure and enjoy every minute with your pop. Your blessed!
Three things I love about this video: The instructions about the T-know, the father and son interaction (reminds me of my old man), and the Mitchel 300 reels on the back!
Please tell your Dad, Derrick said thank you so much, I had been to trying learn this setup and now I know. My issue was pulling the line up to find the hook circled around main line. Grateful to your Sir!
I do the second knot all the time but not with the first. Awesome to create a T shaped loop that looks so much like it won't tangle.. This is great. I will use this for rod and reel cat fishing and jug line rigs as well, nice thanks. Hope your dad releases a few more techniques. Thank You
Shout out to all the dads in this world inspiring their kids as well as other kids. I have learnt a new thing that can help me. Thanks a lot for this video.
It is just so beautiful to see u close to your father ,, and as for dad ,,, Thank you so much for your valuable knowledge ! ! ! Love your channel ! ! !
excellent knot and good job teaching gentlemen! You should mention that after you tie the initial "t-knot" you need to follow it up with a dropper loop. That's the name of the second knot dad was tying which further helps the hook to standoff away from the rig! Again excellent video. Thank You
I'm glad I watched this video, when I tried a simple Dropper Loop I was having a problem with the loop twisting around the main line. Thanks for the video...👍
You and your dad are awesome. Btw it wasn’t your video cause it was very good but I had to watch it two times to get anything out of it cause the first time I was just watching how you and your dad interact. It makes me really appreciate my dad being around and fishing with him not everyone is so lucky to have that!
Wow so jealous. Wish I was tieing knots with my old man the night before a fishin trip. Love how he big leagues you "do it yourself!" Omg happy video. Also bad ass knot sorry I got all emo I miss my dad
Great knot and so nice you have a father son fishing bond used to love fishing with my dad I have just picked up his old rods so when I go fishing it'll still be like he was here ✌️
Bro, I love you guys but most of all, I love your dad. He’s the best. He reminds me of my daughters grandfather. He’s a very patient man. Their Cambodian and Thai. Keep up the good work you guys are awesome ! 💯🦾
Major improvement on the dropper. The double twist on the hook is a really elegant trick too! I tried twisting the loop/branch before tying the first knot, so you end up with a twisted dropper. Adds even more rigidity to the branch, closer to the hook. Works great!
Its been a year since I saw this video and started implementing the knot, THANK YOU!!! I have caught so many fish on this knot, its so strong as well, uni knot fails and this doesnt
@@davidparker667 To be honest Ive been using this knot everyday I go fishing ever since I learned it. NEVER had a failure, last week I pulled out a 5kg catfish with 0.35 mm mono on this rig. Ive had also had a few times where the weight would snag and I a pull it off and still the T knot is strong and intact
@@davidparker667 Im going to try it on a scale and see. Im also using it on 160mm mono for giant grouper fishing, if what your saying is true then I might be better off with a three way swivel
Great knots to keep the high - low rigs from tangling. Definitely give it a try next time out bottom fishing. I suspect it need to be pre-made before the trip because it need a lot of patient having the boat rocking will not help.
You have to laugh. The whole world is going sideways. And here I am trying to better my knowledge of knots. I learned something new today. Im definitely trying this with my new line. Thank you and your father.
@@texasoutlaw4222I I feel you man. I took the day off and mowed some lawns. Its been a crazy month. Mothers house had lightning hit a tree, last week. It jumped into her truck and her house. So im being bob vila and a mechanic. Good times.
Thank you for this. I tied a few dozen leaders and by the end I had it down. I used it last weekend and caught a 20 inch catfish. Im new to fishing-it was very exciting to finally catch something-plus it was big! Just ordered some of your bait. Excited to try it.
Thank you very much. Great knot. My father taught me many knots over the years. The most important lesson was always: don’t rush the knot. Take your time. And, yes, saliva is the best knot lubricant.
Thanks mate, very informative, am very impressed at the respect you gave your father, I bet he chewed you out over the tatt on your left hand. Cheers jack Australia
I was going to say exactly the same thing that someone has already pointed out about the part “you have to do/earn yourself.” Way to go dad! Also I liked the way that you identified the confusing part the make the T and did it again to clarify it. Awesome video. Thanks
Times like this is like when I really appreciate the high def quality of the video, I can see everything. I was able to recreate this knot. Thanks Senko Skipper and Senko Dad !
Awesome knot. Found it on another channel but badly explained/shown. This was really a perfect demonstration. Already tied several rigs, ready for my next fishing trip!
