Im finally getting back to vanlife after a 9month (unwanted) break. Last year I lost the job that allowed me to work remote, so had to move back home and find a new job. After now working at my new position for half a year they are offering me a promotion with full remote work, with the mutual understanding im gonna be travelling again! cant wait to be back!
@@AdiusOmega Im working for a company that sells solar panels. I make the actual designs for large scale systems. In short, I work behind a computer. I think during covid many jobs an positions have shown to be possible to do remote. However, getting started in a position is difficult if you immediatly wanna start fully remote. Id advise to find work that can be done behind a computer or phone (many **supporting** sales positions, or IT positions) can be done like that. Mention at your intake (or if you are already working, at a review or even random talk with your boss) that you would *love* to be able to go for a trip. Dont start of saying you want to do it fulltime. Try to get a 2-4 week trip planned in where you still work. If thats a succes and they see you can do it, you can suggest a longer trip, maybe 2-3 months If that also works you can try a longterm trip. Or, switch jobs and try somewhere else
I’m happy to see you all still together, and traveling. So looking forward to what you all get up to in Ireland. My father’s grandfather, William Kerry O’Hare, came over from Ireland to the States around 1880. I’m looking forward to seeing Ireland in person before too long. Happy Travels!
Lost track of you a couple of years back while between homesteads and traveling. So glad to catch-up just as ….??? Love the vw’s. Understand the challenges. We have had our fair share. They are not for the faint of spirit.
Such a shame you didn’t have time for the A470 through the middle of Wales. One of the finest driving routes in the entire country, absolutely stunning!
You should get together with Will of Wills Whereabouts, you two could have some great trips ( and you could teach him how to fix things). Shame about Faith though, she’s a great girl and cute in blue!
can someone tell me what's going on with this channel? as far as I remember ben's goal was to drive all the way to australia, then covid happen and he's only been travelling around europe and mostly in the UK. it seems like most of the videos were filmed a year ago and not recently?
I’ve been following you since you first found Alaska in South America. I’ve enjoyed all your episodes and friends and counties you gathered. That’s been great but, I have to say that the last vehicle I would own is a VW bus. Too much maintenance.
Everyday reliability is the only real reason I opted for a T5 instead of a Combi, I fell in love with the 60s and 70s Veedub vans when i was a 15-year-old milk boy in the late 80s, and the dairy had an old orange VW pick up van, that had zero love, maintenance or respect, yet worked her guts out every single night, regardless of the weather or sub-zero temperatures. So in my head, it had to be one of those, but when I really really looked into it, as an all-day everyday driver, commuting then disappearing into the horizon, I think it would really get to me if it was a 50/50 in whether id actually get there with original electrics and air cooled lump. Totally agree with the dog's mentality about not knowing where we're going but it'll be an adventure though.
one day there will be someone who gets the vibe. traveling is the hardest and best time of your life. ive had worst and best times every time . i love that!!hope you find a beautiful (hot helps) human to enjoy the fantastic adventures! manchester, newzealand for 20 years is watching. if you end up here again id love to have a positive affect on your experience!
Have you thought about trying out the new VW electric van? It’s very reminiscent of the 60s Kombi and has that same kind of funky feel but with modern technology. You should check it out!
when they started building this van and made a custom engine i thought this van would be unbreakable and would push them to the next level ... i know pandemic came but i honestly think ben should start over .... get a decent van and get his adventures to the next level. this van broke two awesome relationships and was a step back for the channel. This is just my two cents and i really hope all the best to ben. I dont say i know whats best and whats in ben's life but it was just an unpopular opinion :)
@@Alex-fy7scFrom my experience driving a T2 bus on long distances, it's the breakdowns and struggles that people find most entertaining. I don't want to watch a life insurance commercial, I crave engine grease and blood!
Yea it is odd I agree, but I really didn’t want to release a whole series where it looked like we were together when in fact we are not. It wouldn’t be fair on anyone.
The channel is called Kombi Life it's literally is about the life of a Kombi who's owner loads it's old frame with humans and gear to view some spectacular places . Without the old Kombi there wouldn't be a Kombi Lifr, right?
Actually, if you go to Germany, they call many camper vans "Kombi", I think. I could be wrong but you don't have to be in a miserable relic. You can get a newer one.
@@curiousnomadic Hey mate, no, sorry, thats not correct, in Germany we call all station wagons "Kombi" and the Volkswagen vans or as you call them combi are all called "VW Bus" no matter if its a T1 or a T6.
@@KombiLife yeah, but if he buys a Sprinter for example, he can always change the channel name to Sprinter Life or something similar. His life would get a big improvement!
good show-- gotta say-- never saw the "rivit wanna be" fail like that. Good fix though I'd tell you about the heat here ,but can't stand to see a grown man cry.
If it’s the driving/ talking shots It’s because if the low rumble of the kombi engine. If you turn the sound up all the audio gets blown out. It’s crazy loud in the kombi.
I dont get it. I thought he broke up with this woman long ago. ?? There's going to be videos about a couple who dont even exist? Van life is so over anyway. Any van lifers i have followed have moved on to other things or they have upgraded significantly. Nobody can keep showering outside under a drip. 19 yr olds can maybe.
