It's more of an old tv thing where they’d always show married couples in separate beds to avoid the topic of sex and avoid showing toilets because then it highlights that they use them. weird now, but they’re just following the 50s-60s sitcom code and for almost a century between the 1850s and 1950s, separate beds were seen as a healthier, more modern option for couples than the double, with Victorian doctors warning that sharing a bed would allow the weaker sleeper to drain the vitality of the stronger
@@MonicaCatapusan They actually found some old cameras and brought in a live studio audience for the first episode. The double-bed thing was mandated by American TV censors until partway through the Dick Van Dyke show, which was the first to show a married couple sharing a single bed. Episode 2 of this series copies heavily from the Dick Van Dyke show (her in Capri pants like Mary Tyler Moore, him being a total physical-comedy goofball like Dick Van Dyke). Basically, each show is set stylistically 10 years after the last. So episode 1 was the 1950's, episode 2 was the 1960's. Good catch on them going outside for the first time at that point. I don't know for sure, but I bet that was a thing too.
@@tpp.iv.00 Ahahaha, you can look at their new featurette to see the audience, they're even dressed in 50's clothing. The second episode however uses a laugh track.
Ah I didn't know this! Very interesting thank you! That's robably why the first episode is only inside and we only saw some outdoor action from the second episode onwards!
@@johnelmartagbago3764 That's exactly what I was thinking! As the show moves through the decades I'm hoping the episodes get longer as shows in the 70s onwards were hopefully a bit longer too!
Ah of course!!! That's so clever, I love the parts where some reality seeps through the facade! Yes I agree, it's going at such a slow pace atm, hopefully more things happen from here on
You got a lot of the references and hints, but not all. The two commercials are her past. The first commercial represents how Stark Industries munitions killed her parents. There are even related sound effects in the background. The second commercial, which you caught, was indeed a reference to Strucker and HYDRA, who gave the twins their powers. Note now that was through Loki's staff, which as we later learned contained The Mind Stone. It is directly related that Wanda was imbued with the power of that Stone, to affect minds, when looking at what's happening. We see two different people who react, when the sitcom script is broken by either fate [choking] or outside interference [the radio] who clearly are temporarily shaking off mind control. They speak freely for a moment, then are forced back on script. Go watch the choking scene again. The wife is initially asking Arthur, the husband, to stop it, then her eyes go panicked and she starts asking WANDA to stop it. Similarly, when briefly freed from the script, Dottie starts acting terrified, not bitchy. Wanda and her Mind Stone power is clearly doing this. Even before we clearly see her initiate a rewind, it's pretty certain it's her. That's not to say she isn't being manipulated. Agnes, a suspicious character for sure, even implies who might be doing it, when she namechecks The Devil. In Marvel parlance, that's Mephisto, a long established character. And the other Infinity Stones are likely involved. The episode fade outs are to a six sided gem shape. The Moon in the Bewitched type credits is surrounded in a ring by six stars. There's more, but... this is a long comment already...
Monica it was a lot of fun watching you react to WandaVision and you did a great job breaking down what you knew about Wanda history which a lot of MCU fans who not read the comics have and I will not share anything to spoil your experience of this show. Just want to point out the symbol on the pad, the toy helicopter and beekeeper's back is call SWORD it's another agency like SHILED but usually out in space.
Thank you for your support! And ah yes I realise now that I missed that a few times😭 I'll try and keep my eye out for more SWORD signs in the next episodes!!
This is the first video I've seen of yours. I liked it alot. I'm loving WandaVision so far, I can't wait to see where this goes. I'm subbing for more of your vids. :)
Those "marital problems" jokes were actually pretty common in old sitcoms. It was fucked up, in retrospect. Those were some really intelligent observations; subbed.
the logo in the helicopter and the beekeeper outfit were of S.W.O.R.D., in which we saw at the end credit scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home with Nick Fury in space working with the skrulls
The beekeeper is a villain from outside (the real world) of Wanda's "reality" that she sees as a threat to the world and life she created (potentially from A.I.M. or SWORD or something like that). The inflection and emotion/fear in her voice when she said "No." suggests she may who who it is and/or why they're there. When she reminds time and asks Vision the second time "Is this really happening?" doesn't have the same romantic/exciting inflection. It more fearful and says that she is questioning whether this "reality" itself is real. This is also alluded to in the first episode by way of the company Vision works for having no real purpose and his job not really having a point or explanation as for what he does. Also, Wanda not knowing where they moved from, when their anniversary is maybe there is a heart on the calendar sprt of hunt that her "reality" isn't real. All of these smaller things are probably going to eventually lead her to realize that her world isn't real. Also when Mrs. Heart (Debra Jo Rupp) repeatedly says (whilst smiling) "Stop it" suggests that Wanda doesn't quite have control over her reality I originally thought the voice on the radio was Hawkeye (as Wanda and Clint are close both in the films and in the comics. Unfortunately, though, Wanda lost control and killed Clint just before the House of M (Doctor Strange played a significant role in this event, by the way) comic event and subsequently resurrected him during the events of House of M after she lost control and broke reality. Clint was understandably upset to learn what had happened). However, upon hearing the voice again (and with some help from the internet) it is most likely Jimmy Woo (the detective from Antman and the Wasp played by Randall Park) and that he was also the one watching "WandaVision" in the control room (or whatever that room is). It's worth noting that Woo had several agency affiliations such as S.H.I.E.L.D., Agents of Atlas, Protectors, etc. The fact that he was able to kind of get through to her via the radio "Who is doing this to you?" suggests that her "reality" isn't stable. and may no longer be under her control. WandaVision is set to lead in to Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness (Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Wanda has been announced as part of the cast of Doctor Strange and tje Multiverse of Madness). This leads me to believe that Wanda, at the end of WandaVision, is going to lose control completely and break reality (Something that will require Stephen Strange's expertise in the Mystic Arts to rectify) and the result and ensuing choose or whatever will be the plot of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
I missed the SWORD logo on the beekeeper's back. He's an agent of SWORD and Wanda knows who SWORD are and what they do. This means she knows they see her as a threat.
The length is fine, they'd probably cover too much story in 1hr and want to stretch out the anticipation. Also that's live laughter, it was shot in front of a studio audience (though they probably held up a sign to laugh lol) Yes that is the Mom for that 70's show! She's a gem!! I hope we see a lot more of her :-)
I suppose, I'm just so greedy I want more content haha. And yes I heard that the first episode was shot infront of a live studio audience but not for the rest of the show! And ah I knew it! I love her, it looks like she hasn't aged a day since filming That 70s Show👀
*At first, the change of tone of MCU in Wandavision is jarring for me... but as I continue to watch, I become more and more in love with this show.* It's campy yet dark.
Yes it was a big switch up to their normal tone! It's still very fun but I'm mostly enjoying the bits where it goes dark a lot more than the rest of the episodes atm
This is an interesting show and creepy at the same time like such weird things going on with just stuff popping into the show 😭 I wanna watch more of this through your reactions as I would not completely get it without you 😂😂 And love the colour scheme the eyeshadow and the schrunchie! presentation on point ❤️❤️🔥🔥
Yess! I love the vibe of this show, one minute it's very upbeat and fun and the next it's very creepy and slightly sinister! Loool dw girl I've got you😏😂 Ahh thank you!! I love trying to match my outfits to what I'm watching🥰
57 = issue of The Avengers in which Vision makes his very first appearance way back in the day. More important is the SWORD logo on the nose of the copter
@@MonicaCatapusan Certainly. Not always, but quite frequently whenever you notice a number in Marvel stuff -- they use license plates a lot -- it's tied into some classic comic book issue. The Avengers one they used here is really cool, from October 1968: i.pinimg.com/736x/6a/ec/23/6aec23b4917991aeae853d5e8248ea77.jpg
I think episode 1 is more Dick Van Dike and 2 is Bewitched. 2 showed the highly shortened evolution of Bewitched: going from black and white to color and the bed switching THREE times in the show's run. First, two singles separated, the two singles pushed together, and eventually, a queen sided for both of them.
Oh I've never seen Dick Van Dike but that's interesting! I suppose that's why we had a different intro for both episodes then! And ohhh yes of course, thank you!!
I just thought of something when Wanda says no and everything has Color it reminded me of in the comics Wanda said no more mutants and half of the mutant population disappeared
Ah yes I know about that but I must've missed any mention of the devil in the show. It's interesting how they seem to be going down the same path as the comics with the twins then!
the beekeeper is from S.W.O.R.D., and the helicopter toy and a couple things in ep. 1 had S.W.O.R.D. logos on them, and i don't think "a scary episode" is what she wanted to avoid...i think the beekeeper was there to rescue her from the fake reality, but she doesn't want to be rescued.
So SWORD is the one trying to talk to Wanda, SWORD stands for Sentient World Observation and Response Department. They deal with bigger threats like the supernatural and aliens
My opinion of WandaVision is that it's a "Rosemary's Baby" heading to conclusion... You just have to listen and see the clues to find who is manipulating Wanda for something but SWORD is just watching and containing the situation with some agents intervening but it's another party (Mephisto the devil of Marvel clue color red) manipulating her and others inside Wanda's manufactured bubble.
@@MonicaCatapusan The No. 1 TV sitcom from 1951 - 1957 and on reruns forever. Starring Lucille Ball (Famous Actress/Comedian) and Desi Arnez (Cuban/American Bandleader. Most famous song Babalu. Invented or brought to America the Conga line). On the TV show they had a neighbor, Ethel which is where they got the role, Kathryn Hahn plays. It was also all black and white since color TV hadn't been invented yet. They got a lot of stuff for WandaVision from this TV show. Why not imitate a hit?
Please please please react to The Young Offenders with is an comedy show made in Ireland, anyone else wants to see her reaction say yes now, Coner & Jock Boyyy😎😎😎
I get that a lot😂 I was born and raised in the UK and honestly have no idea why my accent has turned out this way, I'm sorry I don't have any closure for you😂
