I wish they had places to go and people like her in Chicago..this was great coming from someone facing homeless due to unfortunate circumstances..decent job and no evictions or background but still can’t find a place due to no rental history or just because landlord want to give it to someone with a voucher or who they think is better!! This is crazy and making me reevaluate some things!!!

I live in a country of nearly 3 million square miles, only 26 million people, and I am homeless. It doesn't help that 91% is desert and 85% of people live in cities - but still I would like to live on the outskirts and travel if need be, just to have a home.

The stories were cute but the real solution isn't helping people get into apartments with rents that constantly increase or mortgages that they may never pay off. The moment they lose their jobs or inflation happens, they will face homelessness again. That's no way to live. Our society and its system is the problem.

Many gentrified apartments require one to qualify for an apartment by making three times the rent so that they can gradually drain you of more and more as time goes by. And do the money addicted gentrifiers have a time frame for when rents will be ten to twenty grand a month? And will that be enough to satisfy their addiction to money?

Your correct if I hadn't experienced this very situation it would be very difficult to imagine the scope and scale of the systemic displacement of families individuals in America.
@anitafbrokaw5830
@anitafbrokaw5830 Год назад
The issue of homelessness in America/ began with the failure of housing authorities mismanagement of federal housing program funds across the board . There is no doubt that "affordable housing " is the misconceived notions that human beings aren't capable of providing for themselves. However,the current conditions are results of interfering in areas where the interest in housing is not about housing its about keeping the flow of financial resources available for states ? Once the money arrives the entire situation changes.

Ending homelessness means stopping racial discrimination ending biased policies practices/ stop violence against American families individuals who are finding themselves amongst the homeless displaced population

I'll admit, I thought of an idea, A person buys a house (3 bedroom) each room is $350 a month. This pays for the ownership, taxes, garbage, sewer/water...Now workable? Yep, but would people do it? no, THEY demand MORE. Rooms go for $450-$650 here (PNW) and that doesn't include utilities!! Why are they like this? Because they CAN demand and get that price.

I suggest a deeper look into what part states and county's have in the perpetuation of recycling eligible housing participants through the systemic housing discrimination policies that undermine the participation in federal housing programs ? There is no doubts concerning the number of homeless in relation too and with the federal housing participants?

ok. think about it this way. if one million people in your country donated ONE DOLLAR to a homeless person, they would never have to worry, ever again. ONE DOLLAR. thats all it takes. there are 38 million people in canada. one million are homeless.

Best thing you can do as an investment in your life is: Learn to hunt, fish, and live off the land. Learn to build from scratch some shelter out of the wilderness. Learn to vegetate. Invest in the learning process. Even if you need to pay someone to teach you. But learn every aspect of it. Invest as much as you can in guns and ammunition for emergency purposes only as well as learn to make your own weapons from scratch. Then, invest in every tool and equipment to get you started on your life journey to live off the land. Find an isolated place on earth where you can live alone or with a small group of like minded people whom all know what you know and never again depend on any government. This is your last and best investment for survival.

If the homeless were actually invisible they'd be able to do whatever they need to do in life and not have to catch attention these issues are why homeless are actually not invisible. They're just ignored except by the people in authority and people who think they have authority of course.

Rents etc. are so expensive. Honest people pay about 75% or more just for housing. Utilities are high also. Please keep a roof over your head, if only a room with cooking privileges, or a weekly apartment . Please deduct a room expense out of charity checks, so they do not spend it on drugs. People can work online.

Listen people. You are happy to see your property prices rise by 10% a year. What that means is that over time people get pushed out of the market. I choose to be a out of it. It's too crazy.

The people can't afford freedom, but they still want the market to have it. It's like Stockholm Syndrome, with the market as the captor.

94 out of every two hundred people in the USA is on the brink of being homeless which is dead wrong. 94 out of 200 people in the USA are rent \ cost burdened. Being rent burdened is not the same as being on the verge of being homeless. Being rent burdened means a renter is spending more than the ideal 30% of income on rent. Just like being so called "Food Insecure" does not mean one is hungry. Being food insecure means that healthy food is not always present in the amount and quality desired whenever needed. Food Insecure does not mean starving. And Rent Burdened does not mean one is on the brink of homelessness. I love how these liberals invent words to make mountains out of mole hills. This woman is a master at the craft of ultra liberal hyperbole! This woman's facts can't be trusted!

The money addicted gentrifiers often require that one makes three times the rent so that they can gradually drain them of more and more as time goes by. ( the average price of a one bedroom apartment is aprox. Fifteen hundred a month) and you think that this is not going to cause working class people to teeter on the brink of homelessness? Please. And do the money addicted gentrifiers have a time frame for when rents will be ten to twenty grand a month? And even that wont be enough to satisfy their addiction to money.
