@@sugs1191 it's really a damn shame Rakim hasn't really put out anything after 90s.. i mean he released i think few songs in 2008, right? but that don't mean shit.. or actually damn he did release album in 2009 but i don't know, i need that 80s, 90s or early 2000s sound from him.
@@TruthfullySpeaking500should have been, "I changed the whole genre with my first album in more than one way, first rap album produced by multiple producers and first rap album written completly in first person narrative and first rap album that used "16 bars verse,chorus,16 bars verse, chorus song structure. "
@@TruthfullySpeaking500 if you a true esco fan, than you know he sounded more like lord finesse on halftime... which was the first song i heard him rap....
Realistically though, he hasn't really been in the conversation about his modern music until the last 4 albums. He has had the most ridiculous career, going from legend to forgotten back to the Grammys
@@SJ-li5ql Absolutely one of the best, you have Rakim, KRS One, Kane, Pac , Big, and a host of others. It's all opinion based, because If you ask 10 different people you will get 10 different answers.
Jay-Z used to clown Nas, for not making a lot of albums. But Nas was always on the marathon/ long term Artist route. Now he can take shots at Jay about longevity and quality. Musically Nas outlasted Jay.
At this point he has outlasted everyone tbh. We have never seen someone at his age still rapping at a high level & winning a grammy. On some Lebron/Brady ish.
When You're Great.. You don't have to say it, Everyone Recognizes it. Jay aligned himself to Nas because of Nas Greatness... so that he would be mentioned. Everyone knows the Truth but People Need the Lie to Exist.
Not really, a written testimony dropped in 2020. That’s only 4 years ago. Nas releasing essentially the same album 6 times in a row doesn’t say as much about his longevity as you think it does.
@@xXxXx-----xXxXxHe didnt "fall off" times just changed, the sound changed. He still made dope tracks. People just moved on 🤷♂️ falling off would be him selling out to the industry standards which he didnt. Jay-Z is the definition of a sellout.
Here's a list he did NOT influence: Kool moe dee, Just Ice, Rakim, Chuck D, Father Mc, Big daddy, kool g rapp, krs one, masta ace, mc shyne, slick rick, mos def, phife dawg, de la soul etc 🤔
This man said " my child ive watched u grow up and be famous and now i smile like a proud dad watching his only son that made it" -Ether. Im js that bar is 1 of the coldest in hip hop beef history
@@cleanheartaddict I think it's unfair to juxtapose the two since Nas has evolved as a lyricist and is still going strong while 2pac has been dead for almost 30 years.
Nas has a ton of people he looks up too but at this point in his career as far as rap he’s saying there’s nobody he looks up to as inspiration he’s saying he himself inspires himself everyday to be better and great he’s the greatest to ever do it man big up to my man Nas man
Respectfully. Its not to say that no one had inspired, we know that list. But dude had to be his own inspiration in order to blossom into the full goat that he is. Surpassed anyone who had inspired him in the past. Give the man his flowers
I actually just had this convo with a friend of mine. Nas is really the only one left from his era still consistently doing this ish. Everyone else has either sadly passed on or are just not really releasing music. DMX, Prodigy, Pun, Pac, BIG(passed). The only ones from The Wu still putting stuff out are Ghost, Meth and Rae and neither have dropped in years. AZ finally dropped Doe or Die II after 13 years of silence but I believe he said that was his final album. I think it's best to just forget ever getting muisc from either Big Boi or(ESPECIALLY) Andre 3K at this point. 50 stopped making music a LONG time ago. Em hasn't dropped since 2020 and honestly hasn't been himself(musically) really since MMLP2 and has been using that bullshit robotic crossword puzzle flow since he grew that beard. And Jay-Z, his biggest rival hasn't dropped since 2017. Nas really is the last one left. It's kind of sad.
AZ kept dropping other albums in between and I think another 1 since part II but I get you. Look at Wu Tang Clan. I'm from Shaolin but Wu fell off decades ago and ride the past for kids today. Always preferred Nas and AZ as a kid.
@@ramonrivera4463 Why? That's like saying after 35 no one should play sports, work out, have sex, be a doctor, go for walks etc. It's his career. he makes money on it. Should Metallica still make metal music in their 60's as they sell out around the world and are bigger now than ever? Your logic is very high school minded. Should writers and poets stop writing after a certain age? The Harry Potter books were for kids written by an adult. Should she have let a 12 year old write them instead?
@@DannyP-dm1pw lmao this ain't sports or Rock music or r&b hip hop is the soundtrack to the streets it was never intended to be in the same category as other genres and at its current state it's not even for law abiding citizens let alone old people 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you would never I understand if you not from that world bro
❤ this man, he speaks his truth and keeps it moving. We all need to inspire ourselves and stop looking outward. We are wonderful complete human beings and must recognize that 🙏🏼
@@popdafourliketupacshakur6256 I understand why rakim was the comparison to Nas in the beginning but as time went by he no longer sound like rakim he just keeps getting better sonically
@@ASSman864 well we can name multiple guys that inspired nas. G rap, slick Rick, etc… but we all know who he sounded most like and who he did an autobiography for
Nas is on one hell of a run the past 5 years. Pretty much better than ever. Hitboy n nas gave us the old shit we used to talk about nas n preme that didnt happen
@@johnwicksdog4399 fr bro?? U didnt enjoy it? Bro ive enjoyed the hitboy era so much. I would even say that he's put nas on a different level than ever. Reminds me of when everyone talked about a nss preemo album, but instead we got a shitload of hit boy albums.
When you are Nas you must feel so proud to proclaim you are 50. All the legendary stuff he's done in the public eye for 3 decades and you still looking in your mid 20s. Half man half amazing
Every single person is here for the first time / in the beginning the way of life got spoke and then came i ,am, same person who said that to moses/ I don't need nothing but god to know im chosen
It is crazy to see Nas really coming back to to relevance and hitting with such amazing albums so late into his career. I wasn't that into Nas until King's Disease 2.
