Ripley in Alien, Sarah Conor in Terminator 1 & 2, even Elizabeth in Pride & Prejudice. Women can do hero's journey story arcs, if written in a plausible fashion. Ripley and Conor's motivations were protecting their team and children. They could win worthwhile men over to their side, and thwart evil men and monsters. They are fallible, human characters who make mistakes and learn from them. The difference is the female hero's journey typically involves the heroine developing a group of helpers rather than being a lone wolf, and protecting children rather than a potential mate.

I'm incredibly grateful for Rollo's work. Im 24 yo at the time of writing. I was introduced to rollo after hearing his name mentioned a bunch by the justpearlythings channel and things was first taken aback by the length of his videos. But im a recovering AFC and decided to listen completely to a few of his podcasts and he connected the dots perfectly. I have a whole new perspective on how social dynamics work thanks to him. I used to complain that my failure to get into intimate relationships with women was due to them being too complicated and me not knowing what the rules of the game were. Now, I understand why women are so complicated and what the rules of the game are so i can have a frame of reference to improve my soon to be ability (hopefully) to spin plates. After first rehabilitating myself through jordan peterson's work there were still things that didnt quite click and the tools rollo provides made it work. Can’t thank this guy enough. When someone comes out and says “it’s up to you to save yourself” after showing you the rules of the game; it’s an empowering light at the end of the tunnel. To add on to your alien analysis, I heard a good review that stated that Ripley embodies a mother bear esque archetype, since she protects a little girl and does so with her life. The alien is also a foreign threat, that threatens humanity as a concept, unlike the other slashes which are man vs woman. Ripley seeks to protect life and embodies a communal behaviour, while not sacrificing femininity, moreso even enhancing it due to her desire to protect the child against nature. That's probably another reason people like Ripley more than most modern female characters, she's a strong female in the actual behavior, rather than a man in a woman's skin suit. Alien wouldn't work exactly the same if Ripley were a man.

Why do you think games like dark souls get ridiculed? Why do you think most of your favourite competitive games have become so noob friendly, like shooters (call of duty: kill streaks are score streaks and they made maps with more hiding spaces), mobas (league of legends: rune changes and more rewards for teamwide activity that aid players falling behind) and fighting games (less Windows for combo strings, changes in hit boxes) have all been made easier to accommodate a growing market of women, who are only interested because of its heavy monitary presence, like football over here in England. Very good points. I am not into MP games, but quite a few SP games have definitely become interactive movies. Even outdoor experiences are vastly different for males and females. Males want to physically hike a tall mountain while most females want to take their SUV's right to the top and take Instagram pics for their followers. Females want it easy....no two ways about it.
What do you mean that Dark Souls gets ridiculed? Souls games do extremely well in the west, and there are plenty of women who play them btw. Also I think the main reason why AAA games nowadays are so streamlined and cinematic is because they are trying to chase the Hollywood movie aesthetic. Lots of flash, little to no substance. Like Marvel movies. It’s a mistake imo but I don’t know if it has much to do with women. It’s a formula that has shown to do well, just like Hollywood had found a formula for their dogshit movies that sell. When that much money is involved almost nobody wants to try and make something challenging or different, that’s mostly for the indie devs. Also the game industry has grown pretty quickly over the years and as such there are just more diverse games out there. There’s a lot of casual games but still a lot of hardcore games being made for hardcore players. I really don’t buy that women are the main reason for this. Yeah there were no vikings here, but as said they traded and possibly had minor settlements here in Finland. I used to be a Destiny fan, but when he started saying and doing all these fallacies and you pointing it out really opened my mind. Destiny is really good at using debate tactics and his opponents often don't catch it. You seem like someone who could easily dismantle Destiny in a live debate, you certainly have the background to do it. You're well read, logical, and most of all rational. The only good female "hero" movie of the last 20yrs is Alita battle angel and that wan animated film about cyborg amputee who starts out being adopted by an inventor who helps rebuild her. She goes on a journey to discover her past and is almost killed because of of it. She struggles along the way. She gets ripped to pieces in her first fight against the main villain. The character actually had humility, self doubt, determination, that need for discovery and wanting to make things better for others with her new found abilities. It was surprisingly refreshing
I definitely agree that the revenge narrative has become popular w female protagonists in action/adventure roles particularly in the 2010s. The reason the recent Star Wars trilogy wasn't as strong (esp the 2nd 🙄🙄) was because it focused on a woman coming into her power, hubristic men being humbled by women, and men trying to make their way to a woman i.e. Fin & Rei. The plot focus of a traditional Hero's Journey involves the hero building up their power, failing a bit, and eventually confronting the villain. That tends to be where the most action and drama are. Romance or other emotional arcs were only subplots. A movie tends to slow down the more time gets devoted to emotional arcs. But now the feminist narratives have been commodified, many current female renditions of a Hero's Journey are more about fitting into a trendy social commentaries.
I do think there are good action movies w female protagonists i.e. Underworld, Alita, Mad Max: Fury Road, Kill Bill. My fav is Princess Mononoke. But one could argue those stories are unconventional and don't carry a ham-fisted sociopolitical agenda. I think it helps make the women more realistic when we see them train, fail, have limitations, ask for help. The best female action movies are the ones that play to the woman's strengths. Including Mulan. In none of the aforementioned movies are the women portrayed as being physically stronger than their male counterparts. The women simply have a skill they're able to utilize, find a community that helps them, and/or there's an opening where she's able to exploit her opponent's weak spot. Even with all her training, Mulan would never be stronger than Shan Yu and if they got into a fist fight she would've quickly been snuffed out. But in a moment of "pluck" she uses the fan to flip the sword out of his hand, a move he wasn't expecting. In a less physical movie such as Beauty & The Beast, a woman may also be able to rely on an emotional connection with a man to help shift the odds in her favor.

The fact that people really think Destiny is smart is funny. I'm not saying hes dumb but he has a weak form of argumentation, he does a lot of word salad, he often changes the topic, he frequently answers a question with a question, and does the "what about ism" argument when it's convenient.
Destiny is well spoken, and has a good control of the English language. This gives someone the appearance of having intellectual arguments, until you listen closely to the content. I'm writing this while I'm watching the part where Rollo is talking about the hero's journey, star wars etc. To sustain what Rollo said you just have to see the box office revenue of the disney trilogy of Star Wars: each new movie grossed LESS than the previous one at the point where the last one made half the money of the first one. Factorio is the game destiny plays in this streat.its about automatic aka if engineering was made a game. But there is a pattern. There are smart girls play the game. Girls tend to optimize neatness and appearance. Boys tend to optimize the productivity/automation.
First I want to point out that the song "Be a Man" is not a joke it was very much about all of the recruits becoming men and rising to the challenge of defending their country. The second thing is that it is possible to make a hero's journey with a woman as the main character you see it in video games and anime. Final Fantasy X comes to mind with the main character: Yuna, going on a journey to stop the evil-sin- to save the world. The reason that here in the US and the west we dont see very good female characters following the hero's journey is because feminism has infiltrated our story creators. Now we have to have 2 female characters for every male character, women are always amazing without even trying- look at the live action remake of Mulan: no struggle, no montage of training just amazing from the beginning.

There is a great piece by Noah Carl on his sub stack titled "Did women in academia cause wokeness?" It's great essay all backed up with research and how the introduction of women into higher education caused much of the "wokeism" we see today and it fits nicely with women's values of emotionlism and less competition etc. Ironically I got this by Dr. Jordan Peterson!
