I'm Nigerian, visited Dakar a couple of years back and was completely impressed. Very different from Nigeria. Nigeria (Lagos/Abuja) is more contemporary in many ways, but things like the Central Business District with tree-lined plaza is something Lagos can only dream off. Same with the beach front establishments that would rival anywhere else globally (no exaggeration) in places like Almady, in the Terrou-bi/Radisson Blu area.

I am from Ethiopia, all the way from east Africa, and visited Senegal some years back. African Renaissance monument and Goree slave museum are places to be visited. What impressed me the most was the hospitality of people, Teranga. And you can walk around Dakar day and night with no problem.

Oh and one more thing, in Islam photographs and videos of people is forbidden. Not allowed photos of family in the home, etc... Multiple reasons because its considered idolatry and because of wicked ppl that use photos/video images for performing witchcraft on others. Just a brief explanation that can go much deeper, hence they were uneasy.

@slyslife

Yeah, people kept asking me why i skipped some countries, but they don't understand that you need visas for many African countries as an American. It depends on what you're looking for, but I enjoyed Morocco. Plus, it's closer to Portugal and no Visa needed for Americans.
@Nubianette

@@slyslife Yes, Tunisia also. Tunisia, all you need is a valid passport. They don’t care about how many months you have, as long as it’s valid during your stay. Fine, as long as you can get a direct flight. My passport is expiring in a few months. It just didn’t get used as much as I planned. 😔🦠

Ghana also required 1 more shot, and at the time I was researching, all updated Covid shots, but also I have to get a visa. 2 other countries in West Africa required visas as well. The point, was making sure you know all the requirements for all the places you planned to visit, when you think you’re just bopping around. It would be great to have more regional visas. The shots, it just depends on varying conditions. I had a flow chart for my 1st planned trip I cancelled for 2020.
