Inspector General of Police GRAPHEL MUSAMBA has dispelled allegations that Police are planning to ambush and apprehend former President EDGAR LUNGU at night.
Mr. MUSAMBA says the claims are unfounded as the Police do not have any intention of ambushing Mr. LUNGU.
H says the primary concern for Police is the safety and security of the former President and other citizens.
Mr. MUSAMBA says it is the duty of the police to monitor the movements of the former President for his own safety.
Speaking to ZNBC News, Mr. MUSAMBA said despite, the former President not informing the police of his movements, the Police will ensure he is protected.
He however said this will be done in line with utmost respect for his privacy and dignity.
Mr. MUSAMBA has appealed to the public to understand the role of the police in maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of all citizens.
