my only problem is that if bieber fans see him wearing a metal band shirt, they will start wearing metal shirts because they will think thats the fashion right now, I've already seen some people saying metal shirts are in right now, and BAM the poser evolution
It will never happen. Kendall Jenner sported a slayer shirt at some show/festival something and none of the Kardashian worshippers are supporting Slayer. Juicy J from Three 6 Mafia loves Megadeth and sports them and other metal bands all the time; rap fans sporting metal shirts? Even if it does happen and hordes of teeny boppers start wearing metal t-shirts, won't it benefit the bands?
I have a cousin who listens to pop rock and stuff like that. He made a post on Facebook where he was wearing an Iron Maiden shirt. I commented saying "Nice Iron Maiden shirt" for him to reply "It's not Iron Man". 😁 he didn't even know who they were. Disappointed
Would it because your cousin is stipudly following a trend in fashion...watch this video clip of the old kinks song " A dedicated follower of fashion" which describes this trend.
I doubt it, metallica are pretty well known even by people that don't normally listen to metal. I don't the guy well and neither do you so he may or may not like metal. My money is on metal.
and Marilyn Manson's old Antichrist shirts. I don't really think He realize what Manson wanne say with this shirt. In my opinion it's a "litle" bit stupid, but hey I don't really enjoy his music so I actually shouldn't give a shit what he's wearing. The only problem ...I fucking enjoy Marilyn Manson.
Justin Bieber tweeted about liking Dark Funeral's new album, "Where Shadows Forever Reign". And Lord Ahriman replied to him and roasted JB's ass (not literally, obviously). But when I went back to JB's Twitter page, I didn't see that post anymore. So I guess he regretted making that tweet and deleted it, or a bunch of Dark Funeral fans spammed him with hatred and he didn't like that. So...ya.
if he really likes Dark Funeral, why bother removing the tweet? Who the fuck cares about what people say, the fact that his tweet pissed people off is pretty metal, just like slayer's early albums pissing off tipper gore..
I think that's fucking terrible. If he REALLY did like Dark Funeral's album, I think that's awesome. Metal is awesome and I support anyone else who discovers its awesomeness as well!
Devil's Orchard one girl in my school she was wearing Rolling Stones and I was rlly surprised and when I asked her ,,Do you listen to Metal or Rock?" She just said that she likes the look of the shirt like WTF
Everything you said and more. Which is the biggest problem these days. If you are wearing a metal shirt of a band or a hardrock shirt of a band then you better damn well know something about the band besides just that one song. If not then stop wearing it. It makes it hard for other metalheads, hardrock fans, etc to find others that like the same music and bands.
I agree with you dude I've seen Justin Beiber wearing Iron Maiden, Metallica and SLAYER shirts before and I'm just like, so what! At least he has good taste ya know?
Just found your channel, and really enjoy your intelligent, articulate outlook on the genre as well as personal input. Great stuff. Hope your channel gets huge and successful. Thanks!
I love metal and 80,s pop in fact my favourite pop metal cover is sinergy,s cover of the abba classic gimme gimme gimme and Kimberly Goss,s voice is on top man 👍☺️❤️🤘
That's not True, most pop artist are actually really talented, unless pop is just american popular music for you. Here our pop artists are NOT using autotune, they even dislike the abuse of such ways.
Autotune is an effect that you use artistically. And what you're reffering to is by being well produced by producers and having their voice mastered, which mostly means a ton of $$$
If Justin Bieber went on tour with Behemoth I would die laughing! I would buy tickets and film it due to disbelief. =D I can imagine Justin Bieber making a speed metal yelling"Baby baby baby!!! I'll be your one and only!!!!! Or you'll die!!!!!!!!!!!" Lol. =D
I made a video a year ago basically about this subject when Justin Bieber posted a picture of himself wearing a Metallica shirt. He actually does dig Metallica, maybe not to the level that you and I do, but he digs em. I've heard stories about people like Lady Gaga and Kesha both liking metal as well. It's basically one of those "Ok cool" things that really shouldn't impact anything.
I'm primarily a musician, and as such this really irks me. I love metal, it's my life through and through. I also love music in general. I'd rather listen to Bieber's "Baby" than have silence. I think music listeners should not confine themselves to a genre, and branch out a bit too. I love Bruno Mars, Jackson 5, Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley all alongside metal. And for those musicians who have the "no popstar! TRUE METAL ONLY!!" mentality, they sicken me. As long as a musician is legit (which a lot more are legit outside of metal than you think), they deserve all of the respect that a legit metal musician deserves. Hell, even deadmau5 is a legit musician and should be treated as such. Keith Urban (who ironically did metal before he went to country) isn't worse of a musician because of the kind of music he writes, so why should anyone shit on his musicianship? I understand not liking the sound, but not respecting/recognizing it is just sinful. A musician should always support other musicians, and push all of us as a whole to improve ourselves.
H e's a narcissistic egotistical asshole who has a warped perception of life from everyone kissing his ass ( this goes double for the music industry that can't see past the $ 1,000 bills pasted over their eyes)
Hey Black metal Werewolf, great video! I agree with you. If someone who likes pop music also likes metal, good. It's a plus for the genre. Some people are well rounded and like various genres of music.
I think you hit the nail on the head with the "being falsely represented" statement. I'm a huge thrash metal fan and lately I've seen the flipped brim trucker hat thing come back into style as well as battle jackets...blows my mind; yes I'm bothered by it, but I feel like there's always that chance they're truly dedicated and just totally immersing themselves in it. check out Toxic Holocaust if you haven't already heard of em, pretty rad band.
I think that's what pop stars are trying to do....to make people like them more! They just lie! I think pop stars just do it for attention! rihanna said that she liked Slipknot in one interview and the interviewer said witch song and she said she "Forgot" the song names from Slipknot!
Heidevolk has a very good song, "Vulgaris Magistralis", it's a bonus track on one of their albums, the lyrics are entirely parodic, but they're absolutely beautiful.
Dianna Bowen What of Korpiklaani? Have you heard any of their covers? My favourite has got to be Juodaan Viinaa, a cover of a song by Hector, both versions are the best drinking songs of all time.
It seems gate keeping is a problem for the metal community as well. Exclusion keeps music scenes small and limits the amount of money the artists can make. You can find snobs ruining things anywhere.
I listen to Cradle of Filth - From The Cradle to Enslave then I'll listen to Justin Bieber - Boyfriend... I'm gonna listen to all the fucking music I want.
3:24 wow I wish I heard that in elementary school, this incarnation of Satan named Joni was the biggest bully in the history of bullies, and I mean breaking a kid's LEG bully. If she got white milk for lunch, SJ and I would get chocolate, and vice versa. We also swore not to walk over her spot on the carpet, and all that shit. She moved away in 6th, though. Best day of my life
I don't understand people that don't believe that popstars can also love metal. That's silly. Let's say tha Bieber likes Megadeth, good for him, that means he has good taste for music. People who get all angry about that... get a life!!
They can like it. The question is are they wearing the shirt because they like the music or because they just think the shirt is cool. I have meet far to many people who just wear a metal t-shirt but don't listen to metal music can't name one band outside of the mainstream bands. They can't name one song from the shirt of of said band they are wearing outside of that popular one. Yeah that pisses me of.
I mean... you can be brutal and aggressive without being racist and homophobic and such. I think there's a line that a lot of people ignore. I'm sure you're familiar with Cattle Decapitation's "Forced Gender Reassignment"? Brutal and DEFINITELY NOT PC but it makes a good point.
+EllieElectric35 I honestly don't think that Metal is inherently racist or homophobic. You definitely can be brutal without being either of those things. I mean, if Metal was homophobic, I don't think I would be liked in this community.
As long as they stay away from my festivals as performers taking away stage time from actually good bands.. I don't care what they like. And the pronunctuation was close. One of the best pronunctuations I so far heard a non Dutch person do. Kudos well deserved. =)
Sure they can. But damn it if you are going to wear a t-shirt be it a punk band, metal band, hardrock band, etc at lest know the damn music. Don't give me the name of the just one or two tops songs. That does not fly with me. I like the band Dark Tranquillity. I have yet to get a shirt. I will next month when I see them live. I have all but two of there albums. My top album from them is The Gallaery. One of my top songs from them is Insanity's Crescendo. If I see someone wearing a DT shirt they better damn well know something about them.
That would be fine , Claude As long as some pop fans don' t come on youtube and post videos on how they think that metal sucks & how they think that Justin Bieber & his ilk makes better music...( obvisouly they have been so conditioned by listening to autotuned programed pop that they think that the singers are singing..just let them go on the road & actually have to sing without autotune..their fans hear how out of tune their voices really are...they'll be disappointed ! )
Oeh Heidevolk, that one is a classic here in the Netherlands. Especially "Vulgaris Magistralis" look up the video of it (it has english subs) the humour in it is glorious.
I love your videos! And I agree, it's not like it affects my life that someone I dislike likes what I like. Would you do a video on your top 5 favorite thrash and metal bands? That'd be rad!
If pop stars wear metal band shirts then their fans who'd never listen that music start doing it too because it's the in trend. But these people are fickle; as trends come and go what they wear will change so I'm not too worried. In the meantime bands and merchandisers get more money for their work which is cool.
Great video dude! It truly is quite amazing how that certain section of the Metal community will spew out genuine hatred towards them for, as you said repping a Slayer shirt or something :/ I really just don't get that mindset haha
+michael hall (Rwanime442) Completely baffles me dude. I'm the same, not a fan of that music and never will be but if anything I have the opposite reaction 'Huh, I see they're wearing a Pantera shirt.. That's pretty cool'
My all in all serious comment is that if a person likes pop and metal at the same time, I start to asking them "Are you one of those, 'I'll Listen to anything' kind of people?" which is fine. That being said... I'm a metalhead, who favors metal above all else, but who loves J-Pop music simply because I grew up watching anime.
Kevin Goeltz get what ure saying I love anything from bobby Darin to kiss to culture club to slayer and everything in between Don’t get the whole stick to one genre. Why miss out on awesome music when you can listen to it. 🤔
Duimen omhoog voor Heidevolk! I have their "Walhalla Wacht" and "Uit Oude Grond" albums. They're the only Dutch metal band that I know of who sings in their native language. Most of their songs are Pagan-themed and about the Norse pantheon, as well as songs about battle and the like. Very cool stuff!
Yes, I love Heidevolk! Even more because I'm Dutch too. Saw the album in a record store a few weeks back, but it was really expensive, so shame I didn't pick it up.
Hey black metal werewolf. Have you heard UNEXPECT, and where are good places to get metal albums? I know it's really not a physical media world anymore but I still like cds
I like it and it's good. In the song 'line!' It has rap, death metal growls, and so much more. Listen to the sing Gimme Chocolate and maybe you'll change your mind. I'm not forcing you to but if you don't like it, I respect your opinion.
I didn't realize that people were only allowed to like one genre of music? Or that musicians were only allowed to listen to the kind of music they make? 😒 The "True Fans" Mentality and Gatekeeping Mentality is such petty bullshit.
I've seen so many kids wearing iron maiden killers shirts & misfits crimson ghost I don't even say anything to them. I just give them the horns . you can tell if they're real fans by the reaction. Btw just bought havok 'out of time' best CD I've heard in a long time
In regards to Velua, in my opinion it is perhaps the best album I have ever heard, Heidevolk are by far my favourite band of all time and that album is perfection.
I like a very wide range of music. From 50s Doo wop to rock to folk to swing jazz, to black metal. So if someone passes by me listening to Simon and Garfunkel, they may not ever entertain the thought that Behemoth could play immediately after them. Someone can like Justin Bieber and like metal also. IF I was a musician, I'd be tempted to make music in so many genres it would make some people's heads spin. So if say Justin did like metal and wanted to try his hand at making metal music, I say go for it. It could be good!
You know how there is a KISS shirt in basic shops like H&M? Yesterday i found stupidly made cartoonish Slipknot shirt and it pissed me off that people gonna buy them even tho they dont listen to it...
To quote Cliff Burton “I like whatever’s good” so therefore I just listen to what I like wether it be slayer, Marty Robbins, NWA, The smiths, queen or sodom, what matters is that I like it and enjoy it
on my battle vest I have patches ranging from testament to Infant Annihilator, I even have fucking wiggles patch. yet I got shit because I had a Motionless In White patch. you should ma a video addressing that kind of bullshit.
I have massive issues with Montionless in White fans and just about any fan of metalcore/deathcore/whatever core and nu-metal bands. I will explain it the best I can and it's this MoW puppets 3 comes out. MoW fans: OH THIS IS JUST LIKE BLACK METAL. Me: :| You don't know shit about black metal stop calling that MoW is doing is with that song black metal. MoW Fans: Well they are also a gothic metal band to. Me: Do you even listen to gothic metal? MoW: No but this is just like that they are like Marilyn Manson and he is so gothic in fact he started gothic rock and metal. So why I can see why you get shit for it. A lot of nu-metal and core fans don't seem to give a shit about the bands that paved the way for genres such as black metal, death metal, gothic metal, doom metal, etc. They shit over them and act like Suicide Silence is the best death metal band (which they are not even death metal) and all other real death meal bands suck or they shit over the bands that started the genre. That's my issue. You can like MoW just don't be one of those fans that think that MoW is gothic. They are not. Don't think that they are one of those bands that is playing black metal on Black Damask. Because guess what it's not.
Oh and Band recommendation: CHECK OUT SULPHUR AEON Death Metal from Germany, english, mostly cthulhu themed lyrics and stuff... its fucking brutal good music and anyone should check them out of you guys
I think there should be a distinction between posers, real fans, and casual listeners. I wouldn't call myself a metalhead or even a metal fan but I do like it and I do listen to it from time to time, just not enough to where I can relate to metalheads or even consider going to a metal concert.
That sort of happened in the 80's with hair bands but I like a fair amount of those. I've mostly grown out of my parents music of that genre save for a few bands. Admit it hair bands were sell out "metal" pop though some bands like Dokken were closer to the sound than others.
i actually want to avoid wearing metal shirts of bands i like just to avoid annoying ahh people asking me to name three songs, calling me a poser just cause or some other sht, like literally grow up and leave me alone
you know I never seen heavy metal music cds over here in stores or even black metal just the old school stuff like metalica iron maiden black sabbath etc
You pronounce Heidevolk a bit differently, but you're right: they are amazing. My favourite one of them is Uit Oude Grond. Heidevolk is one of the few reasons why I like my country.
I like Black Metal with melodic or dark symphonic elements or a fusion of both, i also like straight up pure black metal, but i like a few hip hop songs, african songs, Gospel songs, pop songs, reggae songs, Jazz songs lol, but i like Gorgoroth, Dark Funeral, Behemoth, Chthonic, Atritas, Stigmatic Chorus, Marduk, Urgehal, Graveworm, Vesania, Shade Empire, Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth, Hecate Enthroned, Immortal, Deicide, Decapitated, etc all these metal bands are too many to type here lol lol. i like Death metal too i like any type of music if it sounds good to my ears, i still like Black metal more.
