Good job on getting that out, I just went through the same on a old CR125. What a pain in the cheeks

I've had a few, this was the best process I've used so far.

Same deal with my 00 yz250. Took a good hour of beating with a hammer to get it out. Didn't feel like driving all the way to my shop and using a 20 ton press in a crazy awkward position.

Something that I have found works for me. If you hit the bolt a couple times out and then hit it back in once or twice, and do that a few times it works. It's like rethreading a bolt. You tighten it, loose it back a little, tighten it again and you notice it starts getting a little easier each time you go through this process. It's the same concept with the pivot bolt. Tap it out, tap it in, tap it out some more. And use lots of penetration oil. It's almost like being with a middle to older aged woman. Or, for the younger generation here, a man's butthole.

So you've tried both? Which do you like better?

The 1991 Honda CR250 sat out leaning against the shed not covered for 4 yrs. Swingarm bolt seized was a bitc* to say the least. Used Seafoam Deep Creep in all spots on the axle OVERNIGHT. The engine would not move up and down because of front frame mount design, ugh. It was mainly seized in the engine case area after inspection when i finally got it out. Recommend laying it on the ground a letting the penitrating oil drip downward. I did lay it both ways cause it was like welded. After hitting it a zillion times, it finally moved a bit, I flipped it over and sprayed it again and then hammered it back and forth both ways till if finally broke loose. Needle Bearings were literally disintegrated into small pieces after taking it apart. Dont think anyone ever changed or greased them EVER!! This process took about 3 to 4hrs. Bike shop said they would cut it out or use air hammer... i said how much, they said $135.00 an hr. Probably 2 hrs. 😮 I took it home and did it myself. Pain in the A, and I thought for awhile it wasn't going to come out, but letting it soak overnight was the trick. P.S. I also tried tapping the axle bolt on the opposite side and used a bolt thru a socket and a big thick washer to try and pull it out...thought it was working but the bolt snapped off inside the axle 😂 I'll get a new axle now. Think I had the worst case scenario. Try my tricks except for the tapping threads in the axle, not recommend 😃 I'm jus say'n, Flodaddy!

Well i have a yamaha 2001 zy250f and had a stuck swing arm bolt. The way i removed mine was using a map gas torch heating the middle of bolt threw hole for some time.then using a extension hit the end to get it out thats what worked for me with a 20 year old bike.hope this helps someone.

Hey, im having a problem getting my swing arm back on my bike, i put a new bearing kit in my swing arm for my yz250, is it normal for it to be super hard to install a swing arm to the frame and engine or should the swing arm slide right in?
@The.Odyssey

Many times the bushings that go in it are different lengths. Any chance this is the case and you have them in the wrong side? I know it's a thing on at least some Hondas for a fact. (Learned this on the CR500 build I'm doing) not sure on the YZ's but a possibility. Let me know!

Next thought, if the bushings aren't the problem, break the motor mounts loose and try again.

Hey I’m having this same issue. Any luck getting yours back on? I’ve tried heating the engine (so it expands) and feeezing the bolt (so it shrinks) but that still doesn’t work. Even with loose engine mounts. But still cannot get it on. Any luck?

@Landon Sugar are the bushings in the engine corroded? May need to clean them up a bit. Does it go through them with the engine out? Is the rear shock disconnected?

@@The.Odyssey I figured it out today actually right after i posted the comment. For my situation, I replaced the bottom end of the engine since the crankshaft was seized. From everything I read (and everything that my local mx shop told me), the 2001 YZ50F's were the EXACT same as the 2002's. I have a 2002 bike, but the bottom end was a 2001. And everything about the engine is exactly the same, EXCEPT for the engine mount bushing size. I will need to buy new bushings for the engine mount and then should be good to go. thank you for replying to my comment so fast, though!

Can't get it out? If so doing it this way wasn't "easy", but it was the easiest solution I've found when this issue arrises. I've literally cut them before to get them out and I wonder if this would have worked for that instance. (That one was on a banshee)
