Hi ! I think the smaller is better ! But as the difference is very little between the two, the 6.5 should work very well too ! It depends on how tight you crochet
For row 16, when making the tentacles, it says make 2/3 hdc in each ch. Does that mean you can either do 2 or 3 depending on preference? How many per ch did you do? It’s hard to see in the video.

It's 4sc and an increase.. Which can also be done as however the confusing part was written, for a total of 36. I had to stop and go back and look as I was writing the pattern down. **It's sort of the same pattern on a lot of amigumruji..where it counts up with inc..then x# rows of SC..then count down with decreases.
