Great idea-thank you for sharing 🤗 I prefer the smaller clipboards. Another idea is plates-I get clear 6” & 9” plates from the dollar tree and then add fabric to the back with Modge Podge. The top remains food safe so it’s nice for putting out goodies for special occasions like Christmas or Easter. I also made a set for my butcher as a Christmas present-the larger plate had farm animals & the smaller plate bacon fabric. Hand wash the top & you’re good to go.
@@ArtistTaraReed I’m glad to hear that you are going to try it-it’s easy once you get the hang of it and makes a nice gift. Best tip I have is to let them dry for a bit and then trim off the excess fabric, I use a square that is about an inch bigger than the plate, because it makes it easier to center the fabric and gives you “handles”-then I use a dab of modge podge to fix any loosened edges…..if you wait until they are fully dry it’s harder to remove the excess fabric and it tends to pull more of the fabric off the edges. Oh, and once they are dry it’s rough, so I use a fine grit sandpaper, to gently removing the roughness-it’s an extra step that is well worth a few extra minutes.
I love this, such a fun way to use scraps or even your fav fabrics. I would take it one step further and paint the edges and around the clip a coordinating color.
Great idea! These will make perfect gifts for my quilt retreat friends. We are currently living in Africa and I was looking for something to make with the fabric I’ve collected so far.
