It is a hatred of White people, because we don't do the same insecure self loathing that 'they' do. As weird as it sounds (because it is), we are hated just because we don't hate ourselves. And that makes them angry. They wish they had our casual self confidence. And we are being relentlessly attacked as a result. And still, we just keep smiling in their sad faces. So they hate us even more.
I'm sorry, but I can't unsee "Lord Farquaad" every time that I see Zegler in her Snow White gown 🤣 It's like, yay - Farquaad finally gets to be a princess! And then the CGI dwarfs make sense because Farquaad is CG-ohwaitlmao
I always thought that was a weird choice by Disney to cast someone pretty and likeable like Gal opposite Zeglar, Zeglar's personality is far too grating to be in any kind of protagonist role at this point
You brought up a very interesting point, that back in the day, none of this would have been an issue. Xena Warrior Princess was totally loved as a strong female. The Wiz... wasn't critized for being an all black wizard of oz. It's the times! and the feeling that this is almost being forced into movies for the sake of it... because it's trendy or something.
The thing that bothers me most is that it's so low effort. When I think of race swaps done right, I think of something like _The Wiz,_ which took a classic story and filtered it entirely through an urban African-American lens, the entire thing was reimagined. When you just swap one character and keep the European story the same, it's jarring. Like when _The Little Mermaid_ came out, I said it would have been better if they had completely reimagined the story to take place somewhere like the Caribbean and really commit to changing everything. Heck, I've seen _Hamlet_ reimagined as taking place in feudal Japan, you can filter European stories through another cultural filter, but you have to commit to it entirely and not half ass it like Disney does.
Nope, all the cry babies that complained about a Black mermaid would've cried about that too. I'm 100% sure, and would place multimillion dollar bets on that fact.🤷🏾
@@KayMayhem777 No-one complained about "The Wiz". What you have nowadays is there has been so much stupid swapping that any kind of swap is going to be problematic. I have no problem with different races what I have a problem with is the mixing. For example in Amazon's RoP they have black, Asian and all sorts of Elves and it just jars and doesn't make any sense.
i do not know the movie title, however some years ago, i saw a black made movie about a man struggling with the infideltiy of his soon to be wife. i may have been deployed, not sure, but it was one of the most talked about movies as i recall. the writing was beyond stellar, the acting was first rate, and i remember everyone stating the actor as the man they wanted their kids to grow up to be what an honor to write a script that inspired good parenting, to make wise decisions and care for ones family it is not race, it is not color, it is the movie that either engages the viewer, or does not even get a chance to do so dei, ruins everything
Me and my girlfriend watched an Italian version of One Thousand And One Nights. What a relief to see traditional stories told for entertainment instead of being distorted by Hollywood's anti-White propaganda.
the mistake they made was calling it a snow white live action movie, if they had some talented writers and re wrote the story to take place some where in say egypt or other african country, same story slightly different and called it anything else with all new songs it might have been well received, back in the 70's they made an all black remake of the wizard of oz called "the wiz" same story different songs and it was a big hit. had disney went that route it might have been accepted.
The last live-action adaptation of Disney that I enjoyed enough to rewatch was Cinderella. Lily James was perfect in the role, and it really captured everything I loved about the original as a kid. Each one since has had one thing or another about it that was silly. And it's gotten worse as they've gone along. Although I dislike the live-action Beauty and the Beast overall, I really enjoyed Lefou and Gaston. Surprise surprise, they were the only characters played by seasoned stage actors.
I feel the same way, but I also attribute a lot of that to feeling like I was growing out of it. That, and my nephews watched those things on repeat constantly. Lol I used to love dinosaurs (not the mama,) but now... I get an eye twitch. 😆
Cool I haven’t seen anything from you in a while honestly you’re takes or even better than most people reviewing this type of stuff and more entertaining and much more watchable keep it up I think you can become one of the top dogs on the side genre
If Disney had just casted according to the source material they wouldn't be in this absolute mess they find themselves in. All self-inflicted. The absolute definition of not thinking it through!
Honestly it seems like not JUST a ridiculous ideology amongst disney creators, but that there is an ungodly powerful marketing team that is so full of ideologues that they see the blackrock and vanguard investments as their own personal godsend. Pun intended for those who know.
The 1997 film with Brandy is 'Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella'. Completely different rendition from Disney's animated 1950 self titled 'Cinderella". But like you said, everyone back then didn't give a damn. Why? Because we knew how and when to separate 2 or more versions of the same character. We had a backbone then and still have one now. But to go and remake the same story while changing the way the characters look and act is just plain STUPID. It's Disney telling everyone of color, 'Look, we have no ideas and don't want to take the time to make new characters and stories for your race/nationality. So we're just going to get one of our white characters and change their skin color to match yours. That should make you happy right.' All this does is bring out more and more numbnuts that'll complain and protest against these films. In a way it's genius as it generates publicity for Disney and has ALL eyes on them whether it's good or bad.
It’s incredible how still after all these years just how beautiful the animation of the original Snow White still holds up. Ziegler’s portrayal will be forgotten as fast as Dustborn.
Interesting that you mentioned Cinderella (1997). There were numerous movies in the 90s and early 2000s that were racially diverse as well that I had no issue with. Mostly because they were actually still good movies. I didn't have an issue with Cinderella either because I interpreted it as "an alternate spin" on a classic musical starring famous Black singers. Audiences understood that it wasn't supposed to be historically accurate. It was supposed to be hip, and cool, and fun. Like A Knight's Tale. And it had no intention of disrespecting or replacing the original. That being said, I'm a little miffed at the Wiki page for saying it used "color-blind casting". You don't cast Cinderella, The Fairy Godmother, and the Queen with black actresses and cast the evil Stepmother as white and say "it was color-blind". They knew what they were doing. I feel this new Snow White would have fared so much better
I can just see Rachel Zegler sitting at a Disney park and calling passersby "bigots" or "weird weird." Just the kind of PR this company needs right now. The parks should ignore the live action film and stick with the original character that people actually like.
Doesn't matter how much the movie cost damage has already been done to Disney from this movie but it's going to be 10 times worse if they just don't shelf it. This movie should never be seen by anyone. Tax wright off.
The absolute incompetence of taking a character who is literally referred to in the first movie your company ever made as having "skin as white as snow" and casting an actress that isn't even close to measuring of to that description. It's absolutely laughable.
You should definitely be afraid to put youre dreams in actions. Youre gonna fail, you'll be the main attraction. Not a fantasy, just remember me When it turns out wrong Cause you know that if you will release this huge disaster Tomorrow, you will be everybody's fascination. In my victory, just remember me, when I make it boooomb! My respond to the remake with a mix of Make it shine from VicTORiOus.
If you want to see race swapping done right look no further than Jenna Ortega and Wednesday. They didn't make it about DEI, it was about the best actress for the role.
We spent our honeymoon at Disneyland in 1979 and have taken our kids there several times since. We grew up with the "real" Disney in movies and t.v. What a shame you couldn't have seen their entertainment before they committed suicide.
Disney has taken everything wholesome, fun and cool that millions grew up with and made them the lamest, dumbest and almost disturbing pieces of non entertainment ever. I'd never show these films to children
If they just produce good movies with no overt messaging or re-imaging characters, they will do better. They need to make new movies or explore old properties that deserve a refresh.
This will have a hard time beating the upcoming movie: Snow Tatted White and the Seven Radical Gamers. I hear the sequel: Journey to Save the Tomb Raider will be even better.
4:00 I remember that lol. No one batted an eye. Just like Tom cruise playing a Japanese man. It’s only a problem when hollyweird decides it’s telepathic and just “knows” what the people want. lol Disney, stop it. You’re not professor X. Or Jean grey for that matter.
The black Cinderella movie was largely accepted because you could take one look at it and it'd be obvious they chose Whitney Houston and Brandy for their singing talent.
Walt Disney created his successful film catalog with animated movies. It was the Disney brand signature product. Moving to live action has not been successful. Anybody who runs a business can immediately see the problem. But not the new Disney.
I still can't believe this movie is being slated for theatrical release. The potential audience have spoken, as have the test screeners. I think at this point, the sensible option is just to cancel the release&associated promotions before Disney loses MORE money on a movie nobody will watch. FYI, the trailer dislike count is at 1.2million now.
Woke-Brown and the 7 Diversity Picks: "Snow White" the independant princess who dont need no man struggles to rise among her country and finally becomes the CEO of the forest.
Disney needs to staaaap making live action remakes. Why are they even doing it? why do they keep doing it despite the fact that they don't do that well in the first place? animation is what made them successful in the first place, and it's what they need to go back to, with new stories, not re hashes. Personally I think Halle did an amazing job of Ariel. I'm wondering ... in 20 years from now will it be more 'woke' to have a token white person in the movie? As a person whose skin is litterally snow white myself, I can reassure you, in the past, it was my BANE. Highly tormented for not being tanned enough. being too white. I still get comments on that! Thus Snow White, did mean a lot to me. seeing a redhead as a lead character did mean a lot to me! I wish the Woke people would go back to sleep.
I don't care what they told you at school, my abuelita told me Snow White was a no Sabo kid from el barrio and the name comes from a different meaning... Before you throw hate, I am salvadorian and I know what I am talking about 😂😂😂
looking forward to "black beauty" played by a white horse , "free willy 4" is now a manatee, next "friday" movie starring vanilla ice and owen wilson, and apocalypto 2 starring drake.
