This video explains the replacing the ignition coil on a push lawn mower so you can do it yourself.
First we test if the spark plug still shows a spark when trying to start the small engine. Since this is not the case, we check the kill-switch wire and make sure it is connected correctly.
Removing the old ignition coil is very easy. When installing the new ignition coil, make sure to rotate the flywheel into a position where the magnets on the flywheel face the ignition coil.
I am using a folded piece of paper to adjust the correct gap between ignition coil armature and magnet. After tightening the screws of the ignition coil, ensure that the flywheel can still rotate freely. Then reassemble the mower.
At the end we check again if the spark plug is able to develop a spark, which is the case now.
We have fixed our lawn mower successfully.
