@@amiegamble1678 it’s gone really really well! I’ve saved half my yearly salary in the first year, I’ve managed to pay off my wedding and all debt! 100% recommend! I spent less than £150 this year on 25 Christmas presents!
I think it’s wonderful that you’re attempting this. I’m old enough you to be your mother probably and I’ve lived a fairly frugal life for most of my adult years. You will find that this exercise will be a very positive one. There is really nothing that you will miss by carving out impulse spending. I think it would be helpful to decide which stores you most easily spend when visiting and just decide to not even cross the threshold during the “0 Spend” month. Best wishes 😉
I’m doing a no spend for 5 years. I plan to save 50,000 dollars. I don’t give gifts anymore. I stop going to stores which help. So far I went 16 days no spend. So far it’s a success! I love your spread sheet.
I am doing a no-spend year and would also be grateful for company! I've had success with no-spend months in the past. For me, the most motivating thing was to make money instead of spend money. I had a list of money-making things (list on Ebay, bottle deposits, donate plasma, sell my books at the local used book shop) and whenever I had an impulse to spend money, I would redirect it into proactively making money. It helped to keep me disciplined as well as excited. I also kept a list of free things to pamper myself (hot bath, giving myself a foot rub, sitting outside on a cold day with a warm blanket) so I didn't feel too deprived.
My favorite part is using my stash of shampoos, conditioners, and body soaps. I have a shower dispenser and have been putting a variety of my stash in them. My hair never looked so good
I've done no spend months. I did a whole month's playlist when I did it. It was challenging, but I actually enjoyed it. This year I'm attempting a low spend year. By "low spend" I mean only buying the basics along with allowing myself a treat pass once a month for things that aren't impulse buys or too expensive. It's a work in progress and too early to tell how it will go. Decluttering and organizing help to keep me on track, because I realize how little I actually still need, because I have almost everything already. Sometimes we tend to forget what we have stashed away. I'm excited about challenging myself to do this. My car is 17 years old lol! I think a car fund is in order!
I love your idea of a low spend year! I’ll go watch your playlists. 17 years is great if the mileage is still reasonable. Ours are just starting to have major problems now that they are around 200k miles.
I love the chart u made it’s perfect, count me in on the challenge. Honestly I’ve fell into a frugal lifestyle where I do this all year long I only buy necessities & save money for different things I don’t know how I fell into to this but I did. I’m looking forward to following your no spend 😊
I'm doing a no spend January also Outside of bills, food and gas. Fist did no spending also. I am going to update every week to keep myself accountable and on track.
Yay! I’m so happy for you that you are doing this for your car fund! I’ve never gotten up the courage to do a no spend or no buy for so many different categories before, but it would be something I would be willing to try!
Thanks for this video as promised when I downloaded your no spend printable! I planned ahead and last weekend inventoried all the stuff in my pantry, fridge and freezer. I rounded out with some things so I can make dishes to use up what I already have. I also downloaded Sarah's cookbook from Abundantly Minimal which uses only a certain number of ingredients for all the recipes. With all my great planning, I did buy a really nice gently used futon last night for my office after I de-cluttered. I have a retired friend coming from Georgia for a few weeks (we call them snowbirds in Florida) and he's paying to stay at my place instead of so much more at a hotel so that'll pay for the futon plus possibly an extra mortgage payment. Used a gift card to go to brunch with my sister on New Years! Also avoided food in the cafeteria at work and ate the perfectly good leftovers I packed from home. :)
You are doing so well!!! Ill have to look at Sarah's cookbook. I love her channel. I love that your friend is paying to stay and that situation will benefit both of you. I forgot my breakfast today but I am managing to scavenge free food at work, ha!
@@PenniesNotPerfection I have "emergency food" that might not be the healthiest but does the job. Sarah's recipes are vegan which I want to go back to but can easily be adapted to add meat. I shed a lot of weight when I did it before but right now I have poultry and seafood in the freezer.
@@PenniesNotPerfection I find that no matter how I'm eating, if I take a few hours to batch cook or prep on the weekend, it sets me up for a more successful week. Hope that helps. My sister is the queen of finding meats that are marked down before they spoil and buying on sale and freezing. Her family are big meat eaters.
I am trying to NO spend shopping too!! I ordered a lot Oct-Dec. for Christmas and also just shopping for me and hubby. YIKES!!! SO I am going to no spend for quite a while since we have a vacay coming up in early March to Disney World.
No spending money on alcohol!! (Dont have a problem but I do enjoy a glass of wine every once in awhile- this will also tie into my get fit/lose weight goals too so win win) 😂😂

We're doing six weeks, up until Valentine's Day and my daughter's birthday. We are reducing our grocery but to only items in our meal plan so that will be a big change for me.
I’m doing a low spend year. I did buy some smart bulbs to go with the smart plugs I was gifted. I’m rationalizing it that I haven’t ate out for lunch the past month, and have not had a date night out in nearly 6 weeks. That’s hundreds of dollars I’ve saved compared to the $20 I spent.
Love this!! I understand the whole Quality thing and being easily pulled away from what is important for my family. That's why I chose the word Committed for 2020. I will take this journey of a no spend month with you...OMG its going to be hard because I am not truly prepared for it but oh well I can try.

@@PenniesNotPerfection Absolutely its the perfect time to see what may be triggers that I never realized before. I believe that even if I dont make the whole month it will teach me something about me and that's what is important. I have already decided to do another no spend month this year. I am thinking March because there are no family birthdays until next month so no extra spending there.
My husband and I will be starting the Daniel fasting and praying on Sunday. When I told my husband I wanted us to do a no spend during that time like last year. He sounded like a kid when he asked me why. 😃
I always want to join no spend Januarys, but it's my birthday month, so I try to strategically use birthday coupons from stores and restaurants to stock up on extra stuff or eat out without spending a ton.
@@theclosetstamper Yes! That's how I would do it. If something is already planned or a special event you could totally exempt that and still get the benefit for the rest of the month.

Yes I definitely think so! And it will be way under 100k miles which will be amazing since it will last a long time and both of our current cars are much higher.
