Great review video! You focused on filling vehicles instead of lawn equipment…which is what I needed the gas can for! Thanks

I bought a brand new surecan yesterday and they have moved the fill cap to the top so you don't have to lay it down anymore like the old ones and it works great also has a section where you can see how full it is on the side!

That's a nice improvement. I've seen them in Menards now and will look the next time I'm in there. Thanks for the info.

No problem I think maybe the 2 gallon can is the same but the 5 gallon one I bought from Lowe’s had the new style

I have several no spill cans; I like the idea of a cotter pin put through holes in the ears of the can's nozzle to keep the green button down , as I've seen in other videos. This will help when you are going to EMPTY the can COMPLETELY, like into your car. For small engines, down low, below the waist, the no spill, as is, is the best for controlling the flow. The no spill becomes a problem when you need to hold it above your waist, as in a car with a trap door and a necessary funnel in place to keep it open, with the can above all that. I install vents in all my cans that are 5 gallons, even some 2.5 gallon cans, but not all of the smaller, no spills. The gas just flows better with a vent.

Interesting ideas. I like the No-Spill for all my smaller mixed fuel engines. The 2.5 gallon works great. I agree that that green button is a pain to hold down for the entire 5 gallons.

The No-Spill extension cap looks like it will break off and go into the tank on the vehicle.

For filling lawnmowers and snowblowers, I prefer the No-Spill can. If I need to fill a car, then the extension for the spout is nice. Otherwise, have a funnel handy.

My favorite for filling on road vehicles is my chilton gas cans. The no spill works great in filling my atvs up .
@MarkThomasBuilder
@MarkThomasBuilder 5 лет назад
I agree with those two choices. The vent on the Chilton gas works well.

I bought several of these for the hurricane season in Florida. After struggling with other cheaper gas cans I spent the money on the Surecan 5gallon and 2gallon. I will hold onto the old ones, since I can sell them when a hurricane comes through and all the gas cans are gone from the shelves (Irma, 2017). I saw Lowe’s stocked up on them and generators, those will all be gone in a hour when a hurricane is heading our way.

Hope you all stay safe there in Florida. It's worth it to me to spend the extra money on a good gas can. I can stand those cheap carb compliant ones.

Fueling a vechile with a 5 gallon can I prefer the surecan, but when filling any small equipment like my chain saw, or my roto tiller with a honda gx160 I prefer the no spill because I tend to not spill any gas with the no spill, if I use the surecan it is much easier to overfill. The preferred can to me really just depends on what your primary fueling use will be. Now even though the 5 gallon surecan is much easier on vechiles I prefer the no spill 5 gallon when filling small generators like honda gx160- gx200 I tend to not spill even a drop. If your going to fuel something that will take the entire can and you dont have to worry about the level then hands down the surecan is better. My advice is buy the 5 gallon surecan for vechiles and the 2.5 gallon no spill for your smaller jobs.

Sounds like my preferences. I bought the Justrite Safety Can last summer. It' pretty expensive, but fast to empty all 5 gallons.

In another video, the No-Spill shuts off automatically when you are able to place the nozzle into the tank opening. The video shows this working on a leaf blower tank. The gas does stop flowing about a half-inch below the top.

Make the No-Spill extension come with the can and have a trigger that locks open if you promise not to leave it that way when you are done. I don't trust that the Surecan will not leak eventually.
@MarkThomasBuilder
@MarkThomasBuilder 3 года назад
The 2 that Ive bought leaked at the threads the first time and haven't since. The thumb button is a pain for 5 gallons, compared to the Justrite can.

Have you tried loosening the cap on the Surecan slightly while pouring so it vents? Seems like it might pour much faster that way.
@MarkThomasBuilder
@MarkThomasBuilder 5 лет назад
That's a good idea. I've tried it and haven't noticed it flowing any faster. Sometimes I slightly crack the cap open if the can is stored in the sun. It' keeps the can from expanding like a balloon.

The no spill was slow cause the thing doesnt have a vent, spend 2.00 on ebay put one in and it will flow three times faster. Also, loosen the back cap on the surecan when pouring so it can vent and it will also flow much faster. Funny how the safety nazis think were too stupid to use a gas can so they over engineer it to death to the point its a PITA to use but yet its ok for us to dispense our own gas at the pump with a high volume motor driven pump hooked to a 1,000 gallon underground tank.

Yeah I know what you mean. I miss the old fuel cans that were plain and simple to use. The Justrite is my latest go-to fuel can. It's kinda expensive, but works awesome.

1) no spill w extension good but thumb cramp bad. will not leak sure can - remove fill cap and it will go faster cons the fuel valve is at the bottom which is problematic over time or with expanaion due to temp -sure cans spout is handy but it gathers dust and snow and water sure cans fill cap is the best easy on and off - both sure can and no spill tube caps will be lost within 20 fills no spill wins due to safety -no spill has a horizotal stubby :-) becuase it gathers less dust -

Where did you buy these? How much $$? Thanks Last hurricane I bought 12 5 gal gas cans at Home Depot /Lowe’s in a panic for the storm, filled them and then power came back on within a day. Those cans have the worst tips or tops anywhere. The gas rotted them ( plastic cracks or springs rust and get nasty) and it’s impossible to put in a car. And of course they are special threads and cannot be retro fitted for a better nozzle. End up bringing to special dump yo recycle old stale gas and useless cans ugh hate wasting money like that.

I bought the Surecan at Lowes last year when the first hit the market. I bought the No-Spill from my Stihl dealer. I provided an Amazon link in the video description, so you can get them shipped right to your door.

Which one is your favorite for filling on-road vehicles and/or small gas power equipment?
@bryangrim6021
@bryangrim6021 4 года назад
I seem to benefit from using different types of cans for the different types of jobs. The military NATO spec metal cans by Wavian are by far superior for long-term storage. Surecan seems very nice to use for dealing with dispensing from a 5 gallon container. The manageable weight and squared off shape of the 2 1/2 gallon No-spill containers lend themselves to be easy to deal with for outdoor equipment and fueling the generator for anyone in the family if I’m not around. I have not found ONE design that was great at everything. I just know that I will have the three different styles around for the three different applications. That works well for me.

It needs an extension if you're filling your vehicle. If you're filling a mower, then it's not needed.

No matter which can you utilize ( especially for small engines ) , I bet you are still putting ethanol in there too . Ever tried ethanol free in your small engines ? They are not made to run on that scam of ethanol. That's where the gummed up carb bowl gets the problem. No amount of fuel additives will prevent ethanol from bonding with moisture and causing problems. Notice at most fuel pumps a sticker telling boaters to check with the manufacturer before using that ethanol fuel in their boat. It bonds with water better than gas and settles in the tank. Thanks for the review .
@MarkThomasBuilder
@MarkThomasBuilder 6 лет назад
Thanks for the information. My local Stihl dealer said to use the gas within 2 months with their additive. I'll have to pay attention to the pumps and see where I can get it without ethenol.
@coloradostrong
@coloradostrong 6 лет назад
As smart as you are , look up ethanol removal. I just put 4 gallons of gas in the can and mix for a couple of minutes with 2 cups of .........water. Yes add water to the gas !!! Let sit for a few hours. The ethanol bonds with water stronger than the gas and settles to the bottom of the can ( add food coloring to see the mix ) You have STRAIGHT gas now ! Lower octane by 2 points but more BTUs . Small engines aren't high compression so octane really is a joke in that aspect. "Fresh gas" ? No longer do I have to worry about that phrase because the ethanol in the gas before I did this technique WAS the cause of needing 'fresh gas' . Now the straight gas will not absorb moisture causing everything from gummed up carbs to running and sputtering like it needs gas ( because it was trying to burn the moisture / ethanol garbage in the bowl. Sorry for the tirade , but once I started running straight gas I got so furious when I heard lawn equipment dealerships pushing additives and people still taking equipment in for carb service I have to tell people.. You really will get the power out of any of your small engines you never new it was capable of . Do just 1 gallon and let me know publicly if I am liar or it works. Thanks , Terry.
