This game is an underappreciated diamond amongst games. The story telling was phenomenal and I really felt for each of the characters. A prequel or sequel is well deserved so long as the same folks are the ones making it.
I agree! The game is amazing and makes me so happy while playing it and gave me inspiration to make some NSR oc’s and experiment with their design. I always listen to the games music while doing my homework, it helps me focus and always make feel happy!(sadly I only have the switch version but I still love it) I’ve met so many amazing people and made new friends because of this game. I was one of the many artists who submitted their fanart to be in Encore Edition! It’s an honor to have my fanart in one of my favorite games along with my friends and many other talented artists who also submitted their fanart. I just hope someone makes a video about showing all the fanart and the guitar case with the fanart on it so the people who submitted their art can still see their art in the game even if they can’t play it
You can really tell they beefed up the visuals in a lot of key areas. The 1010 fight, by far my favorite, is like night and day. The original fight was such a visual clusterfuck that it was impossible to tell what was going on sometimes, and a lot of the attacks were really unclear.
One big difference I notice about this version of the bosses is that many attacks have louder/better defined sound effects to go with them. For example the last phase of DJ Sub Sup or Sayu's trident attacks. It's a really welcome improvement since it telegraphs attacks better.
A true legend of Vynil City. Not gonna lie, and talking serious now, I wish we got a prequel to MEET the guy! I'm legit curious about him. Imagine meeting him as he speaks of his wife being pregnant, and he is excited to the day he meets his daughter!
something ive noticed with this game is that yeah, rock being the predominant music would help with energy, but for a different reason EDM is purely made on computers and other technological stuff, which naturally takes up power, while rock doesn't require any tech to be made aside from a microphone
The studio is from Malaysia No wonder DK west can speak Malay I immediately search this about this game on Google after hearing my language being spoken I'm so proud to be Malaysian
I think the greatest part is, Tatianna is completely right the whole way through, about how Mayday is really just throwing a tantrum because she didn't get her way. Maybe EXDM wasn't perfect, but what Mayday almost caused with her actions... I feel a better ending would have ben her seeing a LOT of jail time. CLeaning up your own mess is NOT a heroic act/
I won't say they were completely right the whole way through. Even if Mayday was... uhh... kinda selfish and dumb at times, the current system DIDN'T work. They WERE losing power in the city, and they had a draconian hierarchy and some of their members are _A bit too drunk on power._ There HAD to be change, the execution was just a teeeensy bit sloppy and a bit too personally motivated. But hey, the outcome is a city that isn't actively crumbling under the weight of a higher up's spite.
the whole issue was that a monocultural way of running the city was inherently flawed, not everyone was a rock fan, but not everyone was an EDM fan either. This is why the power kept going it, only a large chunk of the population was really performed to at a time, ignoring all lesser trends in favor of the singular larger one.
The thing with this game is that, all the boss fights are unfair. DJSS was a lonely man looking for a meaning in life and it got destroyed. SAYU was a vocaloid and was overlooked because of it. YINU was only a child having a grief, 1010 was a project of an ex-soldier, having a life-crisis, EVE was a woman who got ghosted by her ex, surviving an abusal relationship, yet the game tries to represent BBJ as protagonists. Strange...
The game has many ways of being interpreted, which is why it's called No Straight Roads. I personally think BBJ were two folks with a passion but lost their way when seeking justice against the 'rock opression'. Both had their passions and mistakes. Which I really like it!
It's kinda funny to think about but most common performers are kinda poor compared to others so they need to run gigs to pay their bills or other-words ; KEEP THE LIGHTS ON.
Looked at this one again to see if the Showstopper hits the enemy’s face most of the time (remember in Lights Up! when they said they would go Bunka, then Junka, then Bam in (their) faces?) and it does!
They said that making games was not their specialty and Even more considering that this is the first game they do. they hoped this version would entertain us too and that they learned a lot from the mistakes and strengths that NSR had
Can we talk about how supportive Yinu's mom is? I mean like, she tells her to continue and protects her kid with herself like a real mother. Heck, she even uses her (what I like to call as) "Momma Bear" mode to do anything from letting her child get hurt and being exposed to negativity. Such a great mom :) Also, props to the man who got married to such a nice woman. He made the right choice :D
Same here! I thought I was the only one with extreme lag! After the second play through on the Xbox with the original game, it has been a nightmare. I don’t own a computer, so I can’t get the much better Encore edition. So I’m stuck with the laggy one.
U know there's country name Malaysia right?and dk west is referencing to "dikir barat" which is Malaysian folk music"I'm don't think I word that right",and why are u mentioning Indonesia?the game itself created by Malaysian.and some history facts for u.in the old time, there's no Indonesia or Malaysia, its use to be called "Malay archipelago"which is Philippines,Malaysia,Indonesia and Singapore.and everything change when colonizer attack
I think that’s what the feeling the producers are trying to give you throughout the game. It really makes you second-guess if their goal was really worth it because in the end, they were the perpetrator’s who are hijacking concerts and causing many property destruction. And all because they overreacted on failing the audition and the judges being prejudice. They are not the worst people in the world but they are indeed in the end still people.
@SpookyLittleGirlLikeYou I mean, to be fair, the music is how they produce the power. Like, it looks ridiculous to us, but if we only had enough power to keep one or two key buildings per city running we'd probably put all our power into the buildings that generate our electricity.
Okay when I originally played this game on Playstation and me and my brother fought against Dj Subatomic SuperNova I legit yelled "Bust his balls!" as soon as the fight began.
i hate the yinu boss fight not because it's difficult but because its so depressing "fingers curved, fingers curved" and how yinu's mother protects her to her last breath just hurts
I gotta admit. The relationship between Zuke and his deadbeat brother is absolutely entertaining. Their whole family dynamic is summed up in just those first few minutes.
You can tell that Metronomik did a wonderful job at polishing up this game in a one-year span just in the battles alone. What really stuck out to me were the effects in Sayu's battle with her trident, 1010 effortlessly appearing on the ground after launching into the sky, and in Tatiana's battle with her fireballs and flaming swords. I enjoyed the little touches, too. The sound cues in Nova's battle, the visual cue for Eve's eye lasers, even how Sayu looked more solid in her hologram at the end. It's so amzing to see my favorite game be revamped and brought new life! Seeing all the hard work in just those 6 battles alone made me tear up. I hope I will be able to play this someday. Thank you for showing us the beauty of Encore Edition! 🤘🤘🔥🔥
But like I don’t think she was **too** bad cause she has a point, we just show up ruin this kids piano and try to kill their mom… although I will say they did do an amazing job at giving her a base for her argument while also making her a Karen, and over protective mom to still make you doubt her and believe that you’re doing the right thing!
"Hey c'mon man, I understand perfectly what you're trying to do... *10 seconds of awkward silence later* ...or, maybe not". This line of dialog got me.
the switch version is just a little scuffed in general. some of my textures still don't load right to this day and the graphics have a noticeable downgrade from other versions
I think it’s more a commentary on both boy bands (including K-pop ones!) and the whole “You’re replaceable.” Thought process towards them. The fans, the poses, the outfits, the tour stops…that leans more in the typical “boy band!” Stuff, I think. Then there’s the replaceable factor. If one member (like a singer) can’t work with the group anymore, you just go find new singer to replace them in the group. At least, that’s what I think. I could be totally wrong though!
It's more leaning towards the commentary of Kpop bands being on point to their choreography practices and how they're following orders (either it comes from composers & writers making their songs or the corporate controlling their fate) which reflects how militaristic nature of Kpop bands
The only problem I have with the game is it’s WAY to short even with the shadow rap battle side mission. I hope the sequel adds more bosses and level layouts cause an easy set up for a sequel would be a “World tour” like setting playing gigs in other cities and stuff
Am I the only who is dissapointed at this game's finale? I really thought that after Kliff backstabs everyone and hacked into the robots and the satelite, that he would turn them into a giant mech and you, along with Tatiyana and the NSR artists, would have to defeat it as the TRUE final boss.
Honestly no, i feel like if we actually fight cliff it would take away from the vibes that he has. Kliff isn't someone special he has no talent, and he's just a fan. A toxic fan yes, but he cannot be one of them
@@piranhaplant2555 he HAS mad hacker skills. In the originel game, after defeating Tatiyana, he hacks into the satelite and sents it crashing down into NSR tower. The reason why he was able to schedule a meeting with Mayday and Zuke is because he hacked their phones. And after Mayday Zuke realise what they have become, Kliff hacks into the robots to prevent them from destroying the generators and reaching The Grand Quasa. My satelite idea totaly works. Besides, the originel final boss fight kind of sucks and so having that be the apitizer instead of the main course would be much better.
@@spouwnerring hmm if we would have to fight kilff as the final boss What music genre would he be? I'm not sure if he plays music or he just listens to music
My overall favorite boss in terms of entertainment is DJ Subatomic Supernova. But my favorite boss in terms of telling an overall story is Yinu (and Yinu's Mom).
20:12) to answer May’s question, he’s probably been in that area for so long with a different accent that his accent has grown less and less overtime, but it is said that people with different accents have their accents amplified by being around people with the same accent like Jacksepticeye and Dahei da Nogla for example
i like how everyone has like such complex backstories and subatomic is just "yeah im a dj" OOOH THE LITTLE DETAIL!!! WHEN YOURE NEARING ROCK THE SONG ALSO TURNS INTO A ROCK VERSION!!!
Good to see you play this. The very first game from Malaysian company. The director of this game once work at Square Enix and a lead designer for Final Fantasy XV
DJ sub could of said " You remind me of Uranus." Because only foul smelling things come here with no taste. Be gone peasants. That being said just found out about Encore edition and can't wait till it comes to consoles. Also I could listen to Tatiana forever.
Looking back on these bosses and how people started to doubt Mayday and Zuke, even to the point of mischaracterizing them as villains makes me wonder how they viewed NSR when the game came out. BBJ had good intentions, they believed what they were doing was right. However while they had a good message, they did not plan ahead or knew the whole picture. While yes it was shitty of May to break Yinu’s piano, how could she have known that it belonged to Yinu’s deceased father? She also shows remorse for what she did immediately after, meaning she then learns how much that piano meant to Yinu and her mom. Mayday and Zuke aren’t “heroes” or “villains”, they’re people who believed they had a good cause. In the end it was proven that both Tatiana and Mayday were wrong AND correct. No one but Kliff really were bad people, they were just people. Artists who wanted to create. Or maybe it’s just a silly video game lol
