Eve: Now I understand... she is not just fire, she is magma. That which forges new ground for us to walk on. Mayday: …? Zuke: I believe that's her way of saying she now knows you and likes you. Mayday: Oh. Nice!
I think that's one of the biggest problems with the game imo. You never get to just hear your side play, whereas all the enemies are blasting amazing music
@@Laura-zc6rm But the solos are only really intended to be played for a few seconds, to the point that you really can't tell that they're actually playing something to match the current music. That's not the same as having cohesive music. We basically only have the one song from Bunk Bed Junction, would have been great to have a Bunk Bed Junction song for Tatiana, at the very least
To be honest. I keep coming back to this song, and Mayday really gets EvE. If you listen to the other guitar vs ones that Luna did, This is the only song where Mayday's guitar sounds like she's actually complimenting the vibes of the song, instead of sounding like a battle. It genuinely sounds like she's trying to understand her and compliment her style vs just attacking it or doing better than it. if that makes sense. The opening guitar riffs really hit it home because it sounds somber or subtle.
I absolutely love how they actually put full length rock solos into the transformation sounds instead of a simple loop, the amount of effort put into the game (and especially the music) is just,, so good..
This duet sounds like both of them are screaming at and with each other, creating a conflict between two different musical identities yet also forming a chaotic symphony of Rock and EDM.
Headcanon that May and Zuke, when becoming official NSR artists, preferred not to have a district of their own. This way they can easily join the other artists in their concerts for collabs, this song plays during Eve’s concert with them. (Also Eve was reluctant to let May join but after her solo she kinda just looks at Zuke and goes “I see.”)
Hearing both of their styles merge into one song is incredibly satisfying! I can picture an animated series of this game and in the climax of the confrontation between the two of them this mix starts playing in the background for a moment 😍🔥
I can totally see an animated series where the BBJ does real collabs with NSR artists. Like the song producing and performing side of Victorious and BTR
Maybe I’m crazy but Eves theme is psychedelic and trippy right, so it makes sense that maydays guitar is a little slower, like 60-70s psychedelic rock. It slaps.
"There was no way it should have sound this good. But it did. The rifts flowed like silk into a melody of satin beats. Yet, Mayday couldn't stop from raging a little, she was, after a fire. Yet, like a earthen ring, her fire never spilled over. It stayed constant; contained, yet still wild. And Eve, for once had to be the calming force. It turns out, fire and earth do mix, if only a little..."
"Mayday is not pedestrian, by the way. If you knew her as i do, i think you'll like her too" I think this is but a taste of how they can sound if they worked together
I love how solos while still following the beat go on their way. It's like while mayday and zuke are still rebelling they are still appreciating the music.
I'd like to point out now that whenever there is music playing in the background, either it be facing against a boss or your doing one of the approach areas. Mayday and Zuke will also be playing some sort of solo that goes along with the music
( a lil bit of spoiler ahead ) Whenever I come back to this mashup, there’s the comments saying that Mayday’s solo is complimenting EVE’s as if she trying to understand her, whereas in other ones the Luna has done, it sounds as tho Mayday is one upping everyone. Also thinking about the context behind Zeke and EVE’s past where they once were together. I like to think that Mayday ( for Zeke’s sake ) is trying to understand EVE and how/why her and Zeke were even a thing to begin with. Also! Another thing I took away but from Friday Night Funkin when you’re battling the mom, there were moments where they sang together and people equate it to them being in an argument but then agreeing on some points. And carrying that idea over to this, it really does sound like Mayday is conveying points that in her own way, may or may not a-line with EVE’s. Sorry for the ramble!!! Coming back to this after a couple years and really analyzing the music and feeling the beat, it wonderful!! :D
A headcannon I held onto for the longest time is that Mayday does these solos on the fly. She doesn't research or listen to the songs before hand. When confronted said bosses she does do her best to out perform them. However, when it comes to Eve, its more compassionate than other her other guitar performances...? I suppose. I think a lot of what makes this apart from other tracks is that Mayday knows how sensitive the situation once Eve reveals that she and Zuke had some kind of relationship. When she mentioned her being the tectonic plates and Zuke being the Sea, I think that was just her expressing how well Zuke was at understanding how she artistically viewed the world. When Zuke ran off due to the fire incident, she felt like she had no one else. It's that feeling you get from a breakup where the whole world is zeroing in on itself and you feel so alone. I'm sure the only way for her to cope years later was having support from NSR/Tatiana. I always like to think that, for this game, Mayday's solos are a peek at how she feels. Vs Tatiana feels fast and angry, especially towards the end. Vs DJSSN is very erratic because its her first fight. Vs Yinu has her being competitive and trying to harmonize but still trying to outshine her. Just examples but you get the gist of it. I guess for Eve, its more 'relaxed' and less erratic due to her knowing how sensitive it will end up for Zuke and in way shows that Mayday is willing to befriend and understand her despite the harsh protest Eve displays when thrown into the red zone. Basically, I totally agree with what you said and I have always had a soft spot for this boss fight.
Thanks! I'm not really that great at graphic design so I'm keeping it really simple as I try and stich more tracks. I'm so far liking the Mayday vs boss tracks but I'd like to really have Zuke join in too sometime once I nail down how his drumming sounds in game.
This has to be my favourite rock solo and song combo. They just sound so good together. I wish we could appreciate them better in game though. We play them in such short bursts you can barely tell they go together as well as they do.
Them vs Eve are my fave solo-offs. Unlike the others where it sounds like they're trying to compete over them and win, this one is very complimentary along with Zuke's. They're trying to show they understand each other rather than better the other and that difference really shows unlike the other bosses like this. -
Keep in mind how most solo’s she’s rocking out with her own melodies yet still managing to fit in, but in this one, mayday is following the main melody
I am really grateful to meet this video. I love Eve's stage more than anything. This video reminds me of that world view ,and sublimate that . Really wonderful. Thank you!
THIS, THIS IS WHY I BOUGHT THIS GAME THE MUSIC IS GOD LIKE IN THIS GAME plus mayday is literlly the perfect anime protagonist and thats a fact plus guitar is so good
The two ladies may be on opposite sides, but Eve and Mayday are very much alike and their music shows their similar vibe. They're both very passionate about their artistic expression, but also sometimes insensitive about what they do to others. The crucial difference is that Mayday is able to step back, see her errors, and apologize timely, while poor Eve didn't realize what she had done before Zuke was long gone. (Zuke's cowardice during the breakup also didn't help.) I think Mayday's and Eve's similarity is part of why Zuke partnered with Mayday. What he liked about Eve is what he likes about Mayday to an extent, though whether that may rise to romantic feelings for May one day is unknown.
Mayday: hey eve I talk to you... Eve:yes... Mayday:I ask I so sorry ok... Eve:apologies..is...set.... but.. thank...you.. Mayday: listing I know what happen in past you and Zuke... but let go in paste he happen is all past ok... Eve:I...I...know... and..thanks.. Mayday:eve your artwork is beautiful and I know you and me get ROCK ON!!! Eve: rock....on...?.?mmmmm...ok. LET'S ROCK ON!!!!
