I think this is a nod to the yours truly era,where she's dancing with an umbrella in "Put Your Hearts Up" She is kind of saying it's dead and we're into a new era.

About the faces in the video, you've heard the term "putting on a brave face" well that was the 'mask' she wore after the Manchester attacks and when not in the public eye and alone she could take the 'mask' off and be upset and heal. We all have our masks that hide how we feel inside sometimes, and Ariana is no different to the rest of us. She's still human after all.
