In this video, I explain my bowling history and what circumstances made me become a no-thumb, 2-finger bowler. I then go through my set-up and where I place my thumb on the ball, since it isn’t in a traditional thumb hole. I also reference what exactly I do with my wrist and hand as I release the ball onto the bowling lane. I further explain a couple adjustments I have discovered and incorporated into my game to both increase and decrease my revolutions without changing my approach or release mechanics. I include slow motion views of my release at the line and compare that release to those of tour professionals Norm Duke & E.J. Tackett. Those comparisons, I think, show very similar releases even though they (Duke & Tackett) have their thumb in the ball and I do not. Finally, I discuss the disadvantages I see with this style of bowling, but also go through the foundational steps needed to try this style through demonstration of technique. Hope you all enjoy the video. Please like, comment, and subscribe to my channel. Thank you for stopping by.
Rev Rate Formula:
Number of revolutions from off the hand to hitting the head pin / time it takes to travel from the hand to hitting the head pin. Then, multiply by 60. (Example: 18 revolutions / 3 seconds = 6 so, 6 x 60 = 360 rpm)

This is an awesome video and great explanation on two finger bowling. I've also been throwing this way since I was young, but thats just cause all my friends did. I didn't really know much the science and techniques. That's why I've always been very inconsistent. This is a great tool. Great video👍

Thank you so much for your kind words. While there are quite a few bowlers out there that bowl 2 finger style, there isn't a whole lot of information on how to improve. This is exactly why I did this video. I'm glad you got some good stuff from it.

Im so sorry to hear about that. I'll be praying for you. I was wondering if you were still posting. I'm glad to see you're back and doing well. I actually just joined a league today. What a coincidence. Thank you so much for posting.

I appreciate it. Again, your comment months ago pushed me into doing this video, so thank you. My life has been difficult the last few months, but I'm almost done with treatment so hopefully I'll be in remission here soon enough. Glad to hear you joined a league, I'm excited for you--keep it up.

And you've only been bowling for what? Like 8 - 9 months? That's unbelievable! Congrats my man. I'm super happy for you!! Keep it going. A 625 or 650 series should be coming your way here pretty soon. What ball are you using?

My hubby is a no thumber and his track is like yours thru the fingers. What advice csn i give him to maybe help. He comes around the ball hard, im teying to get him to understand he dokt have to do that much. He throws 16 to 22 on the screen.

Sorry for taking so long to reply, I was out of town. I suppose I don't fully know how to answer the concern because I don't fully understand the issue. Are you concerned he's putting a lot of wrist and arm action into his release to get the revolutions up? The nice thing about no-thumb bowling is that you don't have to do much to get a good amount of revs on the ball. My other thought is that maybe he just has a low flare/low hooking ball and is trying really hard to get it to hook more when a higher quality/higher flare ball will do the work for him. I hope that helps, but please give me more information if this info doesn't work.

How's it going if you're not too busy? May I ask a bowling ball question?

@Tapbowling What's wrong when my ball hits the dry but want make the turn in to pocket? I notice this a lot at 1 house I bowl at, but at my usual house, I don't have this problem
@Tapbowling

My immediate suspicion is that one house uses an oil pattern where the oil is thicker toward the edges, thus it's not turning into the pocket like you're experiencing at your usual house. Then your regular house has less oil toward the edges on their oil pattern and so your ball grabs and turns toward the pocket earlier. The house where you're experiencing a late turn toward the pocket and probably hitting really light or going through the 3 pin, you need to straighten out your line. I would throw a straighter line starting closer to the gutter and trying to shoot to go over the 1st arrow and then make minor adjustments from there: if you come in brooklyn, then move your feet a few boards left and throw again trying to cover over the 1st arrow; or if you still come in light, then again move your feet left and try to cover over the 2nd arrow. I hope that helps, I know you're still new to bowling so starting to buy some different balls could also help. What ball are you using?

@Tapbowling thank you so much. This helps a whole lot and makes so much sense to me. I'll be bowling there on Monday, so I will try that right away

Your release isn't even close to norm or ej. Your attention to detail is not good at all. You have your hand on the outside of the ball. They have their hand on the inside with their elbow tucked in. You also drop the ball and double dribble every time.

I appreciate the candidness. I think you're taking in too much though, you're looking at every aspect of the release (i.e. elbow position, hand position, how high the ball is off the ground at release, shoe size). I was talking about the way our ring and middle fingers come out of the ball to create the hook is very similar even though I don't use the thumb, that was what I was focusing on. Yes, absolutely, our approach to the line before we deliver the ball is very different, I acknowledge that, and that varies a lot from person to person. Thanks again for the comment.
