I do agree, I watched the movie 3 times. First time with my family. At the end we all said ... it’s a movie needs to be watched twice.😅 Too many dialogues, too many fights sounds (60s style). At the end we all said ...was it a 007 movie ?

The same as Spectre & possibly Skyfall(?)..but at least M's let go ( Bond's continual pain). Face to face with the nemesis in all the last 3 they're not as good.

Watched it 5x in the theater. I loved it. It’s deeper than anything we had seen in a Bond film in years. Great action, Great Score, one of the best Bond girls of all time, great Henchmen, and the Heracles Project was a fun concept. It’s not perfect, and Safin was equally disappointing as Bonds death, but I still watch this film on a semi-monthly basis because it did check so many more boxes than I feel it’s missed. -Chris

Hello, Allen here from The Special Executive. I've watched NTTD 3 times, first time in a theater in NOLA with a Bond group. We left the theater in shock. One of our group commented on the Bond with return thing in the end credits, "What? The zombie movie?" There are some good sequences, admittedly, first among them, Ana de Armas is the high point of the whole film, the opening car case is awesome, and I did get a kick out of watching an old Toyota Land Cruiser hicking butt on all those new Range Rovers. But, overall, destroying everything that has been a staple of the franchise, Felix, Blofeld, SPECTRE, and Bond just so overshadows what is good in the film as to render it the one Bond film I will probably never watch again. I imagine Cubby is rolling over in his grave.

Calvin nails it for me. I like NTTD more than him as far as where it ranks but the biggest issue with the movie is the villain and his weak motivation and plan which makes Bonds death not feel earned. I’m tempted to say he’s my least favorite villain in the entire series as well.

I still don’t know how to feel about the movie 2 years later. The ending didn’t leave the lasting bad taste in my mouth, but I’m apart of the group that feels Craig’s movies are their own universe. Felt that way since Judi Dench stayed on and doubled down when they reintroduced Bond and Blofeld met again for the first time. My main issue with the film is bringing Felix back for no reason other than to kill him. They really dropped the ball bringing in Jeffrey Wright and then not using him for 10 years. It took away from the emotional punch since we barely saw him. Also the villain. I didn’t understand the point of bringing him in outside of being the antithesis of Bond. I would have preferred if they just kept Blofeld as the villain. He already had a connection to Bond, Madeline, and the virus. It will be interesting to see if the movie has a career renaissance in the future like OHMSS. While there were obvious call backs to the OHMSS, I had the same feeling watching both in being different from the rest of the series. But for now, I can’t rank NTTD higher than 19/20 on my ranking of the franchise.

@@cooperwolfe5478 my brother in law and I got to know each other over our love for Bond movies. We’ve gone to see each film in theaters since Quantum and after each one we’d leave discussing each film. NTTD we left in silence because we were stunned by the ending. As time went on we agreed that it may be Craig’s 3rd best but didn’t know where to rank it in the series. I haven’t watched it since its home release though. I expect that there will be a renaissance for it. Just don’t know if it’ll take 30 plus years for the majority to appreciate it like OHMSS.

Personally, as a huge Bond fan, the ending of NTTD is simply too devastating. I know that sounds like a cop-out answer, but I didn't fall in love with 007 movies because of the emotional depth. I fell in love with this franchise because every movie, aside from NTTD and OHMSS, end on an uplifting, somewhat upbeat note - you cannot wait to see that classic "James Bond will return" text as the post-credits roll. He's a suave, sophisticated, ruthless assassin. You want to see him save the girl, end the bad guy, and ride off into the sunset. I think the film should have had an uplifting ending.

As an American of Norwegian descent I’m just so happy to finally see that countries GORGEOUS landscape in Bond, and still so surprised it took them so long to use it in a movie. My only complaint is they didn’t have a boat chase on a fjord lmao. As far is the film goes, mostly works! It’s definitely inspired me since I wanna direct films someday and on that level of quality I think it’s excellent, Cary is one of my fav directors in general. No Time To Die is of its era. Given the reason why it was delayed, the ending is out of character and unforgiveable. The fans, the paying public deserved better. All the positive elements from the first half of the movie were literally blown up at the end. Compare this to Maverick. Tom worked hard to give us what we want. Daniel gave us a self indulgent exit. There were two things about No Time to Die that were worrying on a recent second viewing. The first was the inversion of Tracy's death in OHMSS during the gunfight in the town square, where Bond puts the handbrake on to let the attackers attempt to break through the bulletproof windscreen in front of Madeleine's seat. This was horrible to observe. If they were prepared to do that to their legacy, what else might they do in the future? Well they could systematically destroy the whole enterprise that Bond fans love, piece by piece, in front of their eyes. The second worrying thing about the film was the final inevitable statement, James Bond Will Return. I'm not sure I want him to. My recent viewing was an epic stint of rewatching all the Bond films in release date order, with a day given to Craig's films. What I saw in those last five was a gradual thematic darkening of the James Bond canvas, as the image on the screen sharpened. I never had a problem with Bond dying - all noble screen characters should die in action. The problem with Bond's death is that his conduct had made him so ignoble that his demise felt like a mercy. He was a man of failure in almost every sense, except that he sired a daughter, but goodness knows what may become of her. He left a trail of cock up after cock up and ignored his primary duty to protect his employers, which by extension would mean his country. MI6 failed also because they continued to employ him! What a screw up. The problem began way back in The World is Not Enough when M was fooled into going out into the field to protect Elektra King. I think Eon will come good on their promise, they always have. The problem is how will they fulfil it? I fear that Eon will complete their journey to the dark side by recreating Bond as a dystopian anti hero in a thoroughly dystopian society, a case of No More Mr Nice Guy. Eon may allow him or her to continue Craig's destructive trail of trashing Eon's creative legacy and do so at the expense of all cinematic conventions. So be warned, those who are desperately anticipating Bond's return. You may need a strong stomach to tolerate what Eon and their army of hotshot script writers fling at you from behind that cinema screen

To me there were no gray areas, there was something bew to see or admire keeping the balance of white and black full. I really enjoyed the film, especially when it's watched as the finale to the 5 part Craig saga. I like how there is plenty of things that had never been done in Bond before [the villain being the one out for revenge over losing there family not Bond/the Bond girl, the Bond-M scene where Bond as a civilian can tell M what he really feels, Bond working for the CIA and having a family-which was a rare hold over from the Danny Boyle version] as I like to see new things tried out. Paloma was a fun 'hit and run' character too. And most noticeably-I'm fine with the ending [which Danny Boyle has confirmed was his version's ending too]. It feels like the conclusion of Bond's character arc [in Casino he doesn't care about anyone but himself, here he's dying saving the people he cares about] and given Spectre did end with an upbeat 'Bond drives into the sunset' ending [in contrast to Casino+ Skyfall where Bond loses someone close to him or Quantum's melancholic coda] and that didn't seem to enthuse many, I can see why they went for something else [and it meant they could try things like Bond having a family without needing to have it carry on].

I think I’ve watched the DVD twice since getting it. Watched in the theatre maybe 5-6 times. Still only lukewarm after two years…and still get choked up at the ending. The writing, some of the acting and the plot holes really detract from the enjoyment. And then he died… Interested to see how it holds up over the decades ahead. The Connerys have held up much better. Great to see Mark again! I really enjoyed meeting him at Gatherall and swapping cop stories…that’s when he really opens up I think! 👍🏻👍🏻

I feel it was a mistake to let D.Craig wear a co producer’s hat and to (presumably) let him have a say over the script. I’ve heard it said that the film 'rounded off' his tenure by killing him off…that it rounded off his story arc. Well, it's first and foremost a Bond film, not a Craig film. No actor, whoever plays him should be bigger than Bond. Of course he’d favour being killed off at the end. For one thing it would silence anyone from constantly asking 'Are you going to do another one?' and for another, every actor loves a dramatic death scene. One of the contributors today said that a person should walk out of a Bond feeling as if they could punch the air. It’s true. We should walk out of the theatre feeling like we've been thoroughly entertained and with a big smile on our faces -not feeling shell shocked and hugely disappointed. Oh and two years on? There’s still no big smile and I’m still disappointed.

Hottest take; it was actually really satisfying to see have a Bond actor get an actual send off. Like it almost feels like those moments in doctor who where the doctor transforms from one doctor to another, this is almost like "passing the torch" in a way. It's kinda like, Daniel Craig was basically saying "okay, thank you for my time here, but it's time to go" and compared to how Brosnan and Dalton ended their tenure, this is a huge step up. It will be interesting to see how they keep going, if they're gunna just restart completely again, or if they'll try and line up with the codename theory, giving another person the name of James Bond (I know this isn't cannocially how it's worked in the film's before Craig, but with the Craig era rebooting the series they could go this route) or if they'll just forget it all together, show us a new bond in the next movie, and pretend like the last 5 minutes of no time to die didn't happen - which would be the least satisfying option in my opinion. I also know it would've been some cheesy foreshadowing, but I think it would've been rewarding if Matilda was actually named Jamie, opening up the possibility for her to take her father's last name and follow in his footsteps. The backlash about a female bond aside, I think if they did it right, got a really good actor, and tied it into the Craig films it could end up really fantastic. But obviously that's not the route they're going. I'm just excited to see what's next, and I'm very excited to be in this era where special effects and cinematography have gotten so good that they really can make any story or concept believable. I watched a Connery film right after no time to die, and as much as I like to enjoy the Connery films as a film of its era - it's impossible not to get taken out of it with the horrible projection shots, clear cuts to a stunt double, exaggerated and almost cartoonish combat. Idk, they finally have the tools to make the absolutely perfect Bond film now, and I think they got close with Skyfall but it's not quite there. If spectre was written better, and Waltz gave a better performance I think that could've been a really good movie. But alas, we wait to see what the series holds in store. Ps; I actually just watched this movie for the first time yesterday

I know I am late to the comments, but I didn't have time to watch it till now. So, I will start off with that yesterday I watched Live and Let Die, which I thought was great as always even better then then the last few times I watched it. It had been almost 5 years since I watched it but about 20 years with just watching it as a standalone and not in a 2-week James Bond marathon. Now today I watch No Time to Die for the second time, I know I am one of the out liars for this movie, like "Being James Bond". I think this is a great movie. I will agree it is very hard to watch the end of the movie because it gets very emotional. I grow up watching bond as a kid since I was about 9 years old around when "The World is not Enough" came out. love this character and everything that comes with it. I was only able to see this once is theaters in IMAX and when I walked out of it, I loved it. I was sad to see my favorite character of all time die but that is what makes a great hero, he scarifies himself to save the ones he loves. I think the nostalgia of the old music helped me like the movie even more too. In the end, No Time to Die is great. Can't wait to see the next Bond movie and what they will do with it. And, I will agree with you David, I want some FUN Bond movies again.

There are major plot holes, things that don’t make sense, decisions that don’t make sense, and just a lot you could point out and not like. When I comes to Safin I think there’s a fundamental misunderstanding of what this character really is and is doing. Firstly I’ll admit he’s not featured enough. I believe he was originally intended to be Dr. No but they scrapped that and all the scenes that reveal that or talk about it are gone, thus why he’s featured so little. However, the character that is there Lyutsifer Safin is grossly misunderstood by most. He’s not the typical Bond villain and I like that. He doesn’t spell out in detail his plans exactly enlighten for Bond to stop him completely. He keeps everything a mystery to almost everyone, yet is ahead of everyone the entire movie. His presence looms the entire film even when he’s not physically there. Orchestrating everything that happens. Bond isn’t even aware he exists until 2/3 of the way in. He dismantled SPECTRE quicker and more efficient than Bond could ever dream of. He secured and modified MI6’s most powerful weapon and turned it against them in a way they never saw coming. He was ahead of Bond with his “insurance plan” the vile of Madeline and her daughters DNA/Virus. He’s lost in his grandiose delusions in a way that’s beyond unsettling. He was ahead of Madeline, knowing her daughters existence, he made it seem as though he’s talking about Bond but as he grabs the fish egg he’s symbolizing a child. Again, he’s grossly underused, and could’ve without a doubt been more fleshed out. But I seriously think most people are very much overlooking what’s really there. I’ll add that it was VERY stupid of Madeline to not warn Bond that Safin was given a vile of herecles targeted towards her, right in front of her. She could’ve mentioned that to Bond and said do not let him get close to you. I know a lot of people can’t get past the supposed age difference (his nerve damage stopped him from aging that much) or his quiet voice, or his tranquil demeanor but if you really pay attention….. there’s a lot more there than you may realize.

After two years, my opinion hasn’t changed either: the ending hurts but it is earned and fits for the Character arc. They maybe only might have it shown not THAT direct but with a shot from a little bit more distance. To be NTTD is a great bond film probably a close 2nd after Casino Royale and Skyfall.

I’m sorry for the long post. I remember when I first saw No Time to Die; it reminded me so much of Avengers: Endgame. There were too many plot similarities for my taste in the film. Examples: Five years later, in the prologue, Bond, like Iron Man, has a daughter and sacrifices himself for her and his “wife”, Safin, like Thanos, kills random people. It just felt like a skeleton copy of Avengers: Endgame, for my liking. I also can’t get past the fact that there were unnecessary ships at the end coming to Safin’s island. They could’ve easily been destroyed by the Royal navy. Last thing. Nitpick, but I hate how Blofield will only talk to Madeleine, but we actually never see a scene of this in the film. She leaves before she has another reunion with Bond and Blofield. No Time to Die hasn't aged well with me, and I personally prefer Spectre's happy ending to Daniel Craig's Bond Era.

Wish they'd killed him off in the first five minutes of Casino Royale, by some margin the WORST Bond in the entire franchise. He completely fails in the one thing Bond is supposed to do, make men want to be like him. His Bond is just such a weak character with no charisma or presence, just a moody emo who was sent to his room. I feel zero affinity with Craig's Bond, he's not likeable, funny, endearing suave, stylish, infact he's a bit of an arrogant prick and you just can't root for a guy like that. Growing up, Roger Moore was my James Bond, L&LD being his best and then more and more slapstick. Eventually Pierce Brosnan rescued the franchise with some great action and great girls. Bond always saved the day, seduced the girl/s and against all odds would always survive to fight another day. Daniel Craig in Casino Royal took the whole franchise up another notch and joining the films together was a master stroke. (Although I don't think the producers thought of that until after Quantum of Solace) In NTTD the ending messed with all my childhood memories and the producers should have left all our memories intact. Fortunately I heard what happened to Bond before I saw the film. NTTD has a lot of good scenes, excellent stunts, stunning girl, (Ana de Armas) and to this day have not watched beyond Bond landing on the island. In my mind Bond's alive and kicking!!!

I really disliked the ending, I can’t accept that the Bond character we all know and love would essentially just quit, for me Bond is the embodiment of survival and never giving up, and it was hard for me to watch. However, there were other elements of the film I disliked, I found the plot to be inconsistent and the main villain was underwhelming. After being distraught at the ending I have now twice watched it up until Paloma leaves the scene. Easily the best part of the movie, closely followed by the beginning of the movie which is good up to the point Bond somehow determines that Madeline set him up. The rest is pretty dreadful. A token new 007 (tick the box), a pointless use of Blofeld and a baddie who could have been good but his plot to kill the world simply made no sense at all. The first three films were good cos they pretty much stood alone and had baddies whose character and motivation one could understand.

My favorite thing about Bond films is they stand up to the test of time. They get 100s of rewatches from me. I have not seen NTTD in 2 years. It's not the ending - there's something about Cary Fukunaga's literary devices ('we have all the time in the world, little did I know...') that's very juvenile, it's high shcool English class level. QoS has better writing than the final cut of NTTD that's been released.

However, I agree that the villain is very weak and for an Oscar winner they should have got more out of him for their money. He was built up so much they should have rewatched it themselves or tried more test audiences and done some reshoots! Also, poor Danny Boyle had some stick in the UK because it was reported that he left the production because he wanted to kill Bond, whereas we now know that he was a hero and left because he didn't want to kill Bond!

I like it, but… I agree with Joe Darlington it is flawed and I would have liked to suspect that Bond escapes in the end, even if they wanted to leave a cliff hanger. One flaw I haven’t seen mentioned is that in Sprctre Madeline tells the story of a man coming to her house, and we assume that to be Safin as it kicks off NTTD. But Blofeld in Spectre says it was he who visited her house, so what’s going on there!

So I don't mind the film. It's good but no means great. The biggest problem for me was it was obvious from the trailer what could and did happen. The fact Felix in the trailer was brief you knew he would die. It was obvious Paloma was barely in it as a Cameo. The scene with bond and "007" on that plane that was clearly at the end cementing that Felix would be dead. It was obvious Matera was the PTS. So, the only surprise maybe was Bond dying. Nothing in the trailer revealed that but going from the Craig tenure it wasn't a surprise especially as it was it's isolated timeline. Loved your Police Squad/Naked Gun tribute at the end, I actually thought my internet was buffering
