This show is my 4yo’s favorite part of his bedtime routine. We snuggle down and watch the episodes over and over again. The episode with Chloe inspired him to want to learn to quilt one day. Thanks for another fantastic episode and goodnight from David and April!
Dear Angela, Thank you so much for your quilting designs and you quilting show on RU-vid. I discovered your show while I was sick with Covid at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. Your videos lifted me up and gave me hope. I chose this design to create a quilt for a gift. When I was better, I began to make it using your design. Since stores were closed, I had to make due with what I had on hand. I will try to post the photos of my version either here, or if you have a Facebook group, then I would be interested in joining it. Thank you again for sharing your passion to us all. Best wishes to you and your family.
I believe you must quilt for yourself before you quilt for others because you yourself are the most quilt-worthy person that you know. Another great quilt design Angela....and I love the purple fabric.
Dana Lee I go in a pattern because I'm fairly beginner: make the "practice" one for me first, the better one for a gift, then the best one for me again :p I got sick of keeping only the ones I made as practice and aren't as nice as the ones I give away
Well, I don't know WHY 130 people didn't like this tutorial( to each their own, but SHAME on them!....just kidding!!!),but I think it's ABSOLUTELY amazing. Thanks for showing how to make Half Square Triangles without using a template. Loved the fabric color choices too! Quilt on Angela, love your tutorials! :)
How did I only recently discover this show? (New-ish to watching youtube) Angela is such an amazing quilter and teacher, I can not stop watching! Binging so many episodes, and simultaneously starting to dread being all caught up.
Angela, You are completely amazing. I have tried quilting..or rather piecing but always gave up because mine were a little wonky and I thought if I couldn't get it perfect...then I just shouldn't. You and your amazing videos inspired me to get going. Since the middle of April, I have completed 2 quilts ( Your tiled stars quilt for my Mom for mothers day, and a Harry Potter quilt for my daughter. I machine quilted them both. They were not perfect of course, but they were done and my family LOVED them. Thank you for passing your passion along to other people, you make it ok to get started, and to keep going even when it doesn't look like the examples, or when it's not exactly square. Never think what you do isn't important to lots of other people...This has been a really rough month, But my job in my quilts, helped make it better. If you lived in Kentucky (or if it wasn't illegal to mail liquor from the state of Ky) I'd send you a great bottle of red wine. My hat is off to you for all you do...I can't even imagine how to manage to inspire so many. Keep going! PS I am working on a Hunters star quilt with a Lone star slated for my next one...I would love to see your take on a Lone Star quilt!
You've really grown on me. I like your quilt projects because they give great results and they look much more complicated than they really are. After actually attempting the "what's the big deal? I can free motion quilt. How hard can it be? Give me a break!" and getting to the point I was ready to hurl the 201, the cabinet it sits in, and the project through my front living room window, I found respect for what you do! LOL!
Thanks to your show my mom and I spend nights quilting, watching your show and drinking our wine. 🍷I just completed my first quilt of the Milky Way Quilt. Can't wait to start the next one.
Wow I love it! And I looove you! Can’t get enough of your videos!! I used your method of four flying geese at a time for a bag and it’s soooo easy!!! Just one thing. When you make the “square in a square” if you also sew 1/2inch over the line, and then cut 1/4inch away from the first line, you get little hst instead of 2 scrappy triangles. It’s easier to use afterward. (I hope it’s clear since English in not my native language 😇). Thanks again for your shows!!!!
Ha ha! I knew you'd turn out to be the 'very special person' you were making the quilt for, Angela! 😉 Excellent tutorial, beautiful pattern, and gorgeous fabrics, thank you!!
Hi All; I just finished this quilt top using fabrics I already owned. A scrappy version so to speak. The pattern was well written, accurate, few seams to match and easy to follow. Using sections of odd lot fabrics didn't allow me to cut the width of the fabric often but the pieces I needed were easy to adjust to what I had to work with. Loved it. Thank you for sharing and as always another great video. Like Kim I'm addicted to the show. Wish I could share a photo of my version but it appears that isn't an option. Happy quilting everyone.
So glad you decided purple isn't so bad, it is my favorite color and the quilt is beautiful. I love watching your videos. I hope the storms coming through Missouri haven't hit you or your loved ones.
I think this may be one of my favorites. Well, they're all my favorites! I love how you teach and especially with the humor because life is way too serious!
I am not a pink and purple person at all... But this quilt is stunning!!! You have helped me so much in branching out and trying free motion quilting... And I am totally addicted now! Has become my favorite part now instead of the dreaded part and I am actually finishing more projects! Thanks for everything you do and making anything feel attainable! Rock on girl!
Gorgeous quilt! and fabrics! You can do it all. Quilt, design and machine quilt. Whew! You must get tired. Love your tutorials. I learn a lot from them. I still haven't dipped my toe into machine quilting. Guess I"m a bit intimidated. Thanks for your videos.
As someone struggling with self-love, I really appreciate how you said throughout that you were making the quilt for someone special and that you are worth the effort.
Fabulous tutorial. Great shots demonstrating efficient piecing methods. Angela always inspires me with her beautiful and practical machine quilting strategies. In my case, there would be a lot of tongue biting scenes. Love her 'quilt-worthy' person!
Wow! What a great way to do the square in a square...one of my problem blocks. I am so lucky, my hubby encourages my stash building. “Maybe you should get another yard of that and the other one print too.” Love that man!
Angela, thank you! Watching your videos has really helped me gain confidence to start machine quilting on my little Bernina Bernette 65. Just made a lap quilt for my church mom who is undergoing chemo and radiation. Your videos are so easy to follow and fun. Thanks again!
I forgot the Midnight Quilt Show was on again. I did watch it last week but I'm old and forgetful. I keep track of the days of the week by the quilt tutorials. You know if Angela's on it must be Wed. except for Monday FMQ Challenges. It was a nice surprise this morning to see you!! I love this quilt!! Every block was a wow for me. Talking about husbands supporting us. I'm moving from a small little corner to a full size room but it needs lots of work. (a teenage boy once lived there). A couple of days ago I came home to find my husband painting the ceiling for me and today he is going to patch a couple of holes in the sheet rock.
You deserve your own room for quilting. I was ecstatic when I finally got mine after raising our 7 kids. Boys are tough on rooms both for mess and less than pleasant smells. Now that our kids are all grown and moved on to their own homes, my husband has moved his ham radio set-up out of the basement into a former bedroom, I have taken over the eldest daughter's bedroom for quilting, my son's room with a comfy convertible sofa has become the library for my horde of all craft related books, a fourth bedroom is called "Heather's room" as that daughter, a pilot, stays sometimes when she isn't flying, and then there is our room. People ask if the house it too big for us but it just doesn't seem to be. We just have more room for our hobbies. Needless to say, I was very happy to move my sewing machine out of the 12x7 room that served as laundry room, entry from the garage AND backyard, hanging space for jackets, boots, mittens/gloves/ hats, umbrellas, baseball bats, roller skates, shoes, yard toys. We also called it the phone booth as one of our girls used to stretch the phone from the kitchen and shut the door so she could have "privacy". She wrote a zillion phone numbers on the pegboard holding my sewing tools and just a bit annoyed when I painted over them. :)
@@kwiltinginny My teens used to hang out in our finished basement, play pool, watch tv, listen to music with their friends, etc. Now they all have homes of their own. My husband repainted the basement last year and it looked so beautiful, I took it over for my sewing studio. I now have lots of room, windows, tables, etc. I have a little extra room down there for my quilting machine, and another little room with my big embroidery machine and all those supplies. It is so wonderful to have that extra space to stretch out a bit!! Angela, I enjoy your videos, but I wish you would show us how you travel from block to block.
I've soo missed seeing your videos, it's like an addiction - but then that's quilting for you. Fabulous tutorial! Oh and by the way, as most quilters and sewers, FABRIC scissors are treasured and not to be touched as we all know. However, I NEVER thought I'd have to declare the same for my rotary cutters until I caught my guy using them with a quilting ruler to get the PERFECT CUT on a piece of cardboard he was making a template out of! After I recovered from my shock (and yes he is still breathing) he helped me recite the pledge to never touch ANYTHING of my quilting treasures.
Janice Hoff I have a second rotary cutter explicitly for paper etc. I figure it is a good way to get more use out of blades that can no longer be used on fabric.
That is a beautiful quilt! I was hoping you were going to say you made it for me. People who know me say I am “ special” too. Well, maybe not the same way you said special. Lol
This quilt made me happy! This reminded me of my grandma who passed a few years ago who was an avid quilter. She would have loved the colors and quilt. ❤
After meeting you in person this week, I can honestly say, you are just like the funny, smart, lovely gal that you are on these videos. You really make everyone feel like you have known them forever. Love the pattern and the fabric for this one. Keep them coming Awesome Angela
I just wanted to thank you Angela... I finished my first quilt and I learned from watching you, guy sew, Missouri star quilt, and a few others. It turned out so great. I made it for my son. Now I'm addicted. Can't wait to start on my next one.
I love a big, bold quilt. This one fits the bill! I'm so glad to see you quilting prints. You are so inspiring, Angela. My sewing machine IS my quilting machine and you are giving me the impetus to get going. Thank you so much. ( An, if you spill your wine, it probably won't show too much on that quilt....)
haha just watched it again...a year later. Still LOVE this quilt and its Bold Beautiful colors!! Thanks again. That was one lucky girl. Your free motion quilting is awesome!
Love the quilt!! Thank you for your generosity!! Girl, you really are funny!! Sill laughing!!! Glad YOU are “that person” who you made the quilt for!!!😂
This is absolutely beautiful! Thank you for a quilt that uses prints, not precuts, and fabrics that were designed as coordinates. I love buying fabrics by collection. I call myself the "matchy matchy" quilter. I struggle with using a color wheel to be creative with color. But your designs help me get through that limitation I've put on myself. Thank you for a beautiful pattern!
This was like the super bowl of quilting! It reminded me of your first video, but in high speed. And totally comprehensive! Thank you! Thank you for the longer video, tips & tricks, and tons of instruction. This made my evening (well, the few minutes I claimed between green beans and chicken prep) ... time to light the grill, and it’s dark now 🌅
Hi Angela! Coming to KCRQF, hope to say hello...your tutorials have helped me take my quilting to a level I never thought I’d get to. Your teaching method, has inspired me to lead a group and make quilt converts out of people who didn’t think they could do it! Thanks for following your heart and dreams.
I love your videos! I've made 2 smaller quilts & 5 queen size quilts. You have inspired me to consider quilting a quilt on my machine instead of having it quilted on a longarm. I love Jenny Doan & have used her tutorials for 5 of my quilts. I watch your videos & I've printed off 3 of your quilt patterns. This one is so bright & beautiful. I've never used just bold colours & prints. They kinda scare me. I normally use a lot of white to pop bold colours. I can't wait to start one of your patterns. You are so fun to watch & I've learned so much from you. Boy do you use a lot of small pieces which has me reconsidering the pattern yet I love it. This pattern is wonderful! Thank you for sharing your creative talent!
Like you, I so often use white or gray as background, so it is so refreshing (and inspiring!) to see such a beautiful and saturated background colour being used. Beautiful quilt!
Thanks for the free pattern! I was suffering a from Angela withdrawals as I am awaiting the announcement of your next quilting along. This should fill the time nicely. I do miss the quilting designs that you used to provide with the Midnight Quilt Show. They inspired me to get quilting. I didn't always follow them to a T but they cut down the struggle of finding a starting point for quilting.
Hi, love your show and you. Only have made 4 quilts that I used straight lines to quilt. However, your positive and upbeat attitude has given me courage to try new designs. Thank you so so much. 💜
Beautiful quilt ! love the colors, patterns and the combination of fabrics. I am starting a quilt that will have a few columns with diamonds and loved the way you put together a block inside a block. I will try that method. Thank you Angela.
I slowed you down to 75% speed since you go fast! 👌 Wow. What a beautiful quilt you designed, explained, and made! Your most quilt-worthy person better love it! Oh...is that you!! How do you decide your faves?
Luuuove both the design and the breathtaking fabrics you’ve chosen for this quilt, Angela. I jumped right over to Bluprint and purchased this kit and the Braided Star kit. Very happy to see your more complex designs AND the modern sensibility of some of your recent quilts, such as the Braided Star design👏👏👏. Would ALSO luuuove (please please 🥰) your take on a portrait pixel quilt design.
I knew it! I'm glad you're keeping it. wow! It looks great! Thanks for the tips and tricks with the flying geese. I mostly hate flying geese, but this method makes it seem a lot easier!
Your mention of the abuse of fabric-scissors by other household members had me laugh, just yesterday I read a comment from somebody having them mini-padlocked together hiding the key in the bobin drawer. 😂
