i understand that everyone likes the 'back and forth' action, but that kills equipment. AND grass. start at the outside edge, and mow in a counter-clockwise direction. this throws the cut grass away from the mowing area, and means you only have to cut the grass ONE time. it also minimizes clumping. or don't. work the machines to death. it is your choice.

You do not understand how a zero turn mower is designed to work. Going in circles defeats the purpose and leaves windrows.

You should carry kievel blades with you for this application
@bubbawubba2307
@bubbawubba2307 5 лет назад
what made it even tougher on the mower was you throwing multiple passes of grass onto the next pass. So it was basically mowing like a dozen foot pass or even more than that when you add in all the other passes of grass into that row.
@oldcountryman2795

That’s exactly how it’s designed to work and it can handle it just fine.

I've run cub cadet lawn tractors my whole life and recently got a 22hp, 2 cylinder, 46" deck ( to fit through my gate) and with the wideset front tires the steering angle is able to go extremely sharp. That lawn tractor is the closest tractor I've seen to a zero turn. Needless to say I'm very happy with my purchase and I'm glad to see you thought highly of the machine

I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. ru-vid.comUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

I've got the slightly smaller version - had three of them - and do some pretty rough stuff with it. Never been bogged even once. I love it. It has never let me down. And all the clowns who say otherwise from their lounge chairs just don't know. Has the same motor as practically everything else except Kabota- which costs 6 times as much. Cub Cadet has certainly arrived in the big time now.

I have an older residential model of cub cadet’s steering wheel design before they added power steering. I bought it because of the steepness of the hills I mow. I will definitely replace it with this mower. 3 yrs of residential use mowing 5 acres of hillside terrain and I have no complaints. Only thing I’ve added was a suspension seat (not an option when I bought it but standard on the 972) and a steering wheel knob. I have no issues with turf tear out doing 180 degree turns without the three point turn that lap bar machine require. Great machine.

Last year I used a 21 cub cadet for all summer and fall cutting 15 yards a week. That it still runs with zero mechanical issues is pretty impressive to me (having hiked the governor to the point where I called it the "turbo cub".) No candle to my old ariens classic 21, but still it made some money and got me some exercise.

I started my business with a used rzt 54” cub. Used it a year then bought one new. Same residential rzt 54”. I use it daily for my business and i would be comfortable mowing grass that tall with it. I since bought a 36” wright stander and have plans to buy another “commercial” mower. I love my cub. It has made me a lot of money. It didn’t cost much and I have yards where I know what I am doing and look way better than my competitors who are using 10-14k$ machines in same neighborhood. Same size yards. I have a 4 acre account I have been doing for 4 years with my residential rzt cub. Looks just as good or better than the property next to it that I see my competitors using wrights on. I call that profit when I’m doing the same size property with that much less cost. Profit not payments is what natters I can only imagine their higher end mowers would be that much better than my lower end rzt

My 2007 zero turn cub cadet with a 42 inch deck would cut that easy. And, my new 2019 cub cadet 60 inch zero turn would as well. First cut it high as the mowers will go and wait for about 2-3 hours, give it time to dry out a bit, and cut it again. I have cut grass over knee high with my two cubs and neither one bogged, clogged, or quit one time. Awesome mowers!

Good video. I have a Cub Cadet Z-force 48 with the steering wheel and Kawasaki engine. My yard backs up to a lake and I'm the only one that can cut down to the water without ending up in the lake on it. It's a beast! I like having the same engine with a smaller deck because it never even starts to bog down and will mow in reverse.

I am half listening to videos today as I am doing other things. The word "Derby" caught my ear as that is where I graduated from '84. Then I saw the shirt, yep graduated there also. Then I head about hills, I do not seem to remember any. (I am in PA and my back yard is 500' above my front yard.) In any case. I have a Cub Cadet 2166 and it still runs fine. Last week I had to replace the steering wheel gear as it got chewed up from 15 years of service... I am in the slow process of landscaping and when I finish I will bet getting a bigger unit.

You could tell the rep knew his product and had great confidence in it. The mower did very well in the first field. I wouldn’t even use my mower in a field such as the second test. A bush hog behind a tractor would be more appropriate for that application. I do understand it was all done as a demonstration of the Z’s capabilities. It’s amusing to see how things shift over the years. Do you think we’re headed back to the steering wheel on a sit down mower? Good content. I’ve seen many on this machine done by other companies but so far yours has been the best. Thanks.

Get some Kavli blades. There's a web guy that used them on a small push mower and cuts thigh high grass like it's only two inches high... bagger, side-throw, and MULCHING! Mower doesn't even bog, nevermind stalling. His Scag does near head-high grass -- only 2 passes -- with those blades (KAVLI) and the SCAG laughs at the grass and thick brush! Awesome blades. Hey, I never saw a zero-turn mower with a steering wheel. That's kinda' cool!

Nice video. Nice interview. I found myself yearning for more information on the steering wheel/turning/transmission workings though. Not sure if it's hydro driven or not. It seemed you were putting a whole lot of movement into the wheel to get turned around, even driving it like a tractor at some point to get turned around (making a 'P' cut at the end of the row). Good job

You need to get or make your own adjustable side discharge chute (OCDC). I made one for my ZTR and I couldn't live without it, I'm always adjusting it as I mow so that I can control where the clippings go, it saves me work and time. I know that I could do that job faster with the same machine as long as I had my adjustable chute. You should always mow anti-clockwise when mowing long wet grass wherever possible (sometimes you can't avoid it like on trim cuts) so that you don't over load the poor machine (throw the grass clippings out over grass that has already been cut).

I like the sound of the big engine! I wish my Husqvarna PZ72 had that engine, it has the Kohler 31hp EFI engine on it. For the most part it handled the near waist high grass well with some lay down but not much at all. I couldn’t justify a $16k mower now though with just the 30 or so mostly large rural lawns I mow up here in the sticks of NW Wisconsin. PS don’t you hate mowing wet grass but it sounds like you didn’t have much of choice with your rains you’ve had.

The steering wheel isn't bad. Definitely better than I thought it would be. Thanks for the comment Stan.

I love mine, especially when you need a drink or holding a extended grabber for debris. Only need one hand to keep on mowing. Love you channel Stan

Curious, you did your turns at the end of your passes like you had the lap handles, still with the 2 point turn. Did the features he was talking about in the beginning not work the way he described or just old habits. With what he said in the beginning should have completely eliminated the need for the 2 point turns.

You could use that mower to carry my whole mowing rig.

The biggest thing that drives me nuts with these machines is the steering wheel. When I used one as a loaner when my scag went down I felt restricted on the smaller properties. It made it difficult to get into tight spots where normally I could just whip right in with sticks.

I think this mower is actually a beast and would do best for scommercial applications like very large multiple acre properties and DOT work.

I have mowed grass and weeds that were above my head, while seated on my 42 inch Toro ZTR non commercial model. It took a couple of passes, but I got it done. Biggest issue was the deck would bend over the tall weeds, and the blades couldn't get to it. Lots of back and forth to actually cut the weeds.

You know, these Cub Cadets have a way better cut quality than the Exmark radius. I tried out a 52 inch radius on 10/22/20 and it had great stripes, but lots of stragglers. I would say that the top five mowers are Scag, Cub Cadet, Bobcat, Hustler, and Wright. I have experienced all of these machines and they’ve each made a mower I like. Exmark makes a very good walk behind mower. The older turf tracers have a really good cut. But still, that’s one mower that I’ve tried. Not hating on them, it’s just my honest and unbiased opinion.

When my mom and dad lived on 3 1/2 acres, 3-blade 1968 cub cadet was the only thing to cut the yard. (Push mower around alot of trees!)

Definitely surprised it was able to cut that . I have a old toro grandstand and I mow up to 6 foot tall fields with that thing . After looking around for a new mower in my opinion toro and scag or the spartan are the best bang for your buck. Good demo tho very surprised lol. Happy mowing

Tell Justin cool camera-gymnastics there. You don't have to worry about a long mowing video. That's why we watch it. Don't care about the equipment much, looooooooove the mowing. It's therapeutic. A well moved garden is quick peak at heaven's pastures.
