That center jointer board was brilliant and simple. The view from the third floor was sweet. I just love your expansion joints w the picture frame look. That looks to be a long driveway, I wonder if that will be concrete as well. Yeah, I can't wait to see the connecting pour. That's going to be one heck of a beautiful estate when all is finished. I believe you have a little of my luck, Tom. Big long trailer, bad muddy ground, it's understandable. I got home yesterday, thankful that the rain had stopped. The sun was even out. I got everything together, put my phone in my left front pocket, and got out of my truck and went inside. I brought food w me. Just before I finished eating, it started raining. I cleaned up, sat back down, and went to grab my phone to set it on the charging pad. No phone! Crap! I left it in my truck, no, I put it in my pocket! I took off out to the driveway, and there it lay, on the ground in the rain! 15 minutes later, it was on the pad w a screeching tornado warning sounding out loudly, and the rain really started to hammer down. I stopped being angry that my phone denied all physics, falling out of my pocket, and being thankful I thought of it before the storm. No tornado, but it was a strong storm. That's my typical luck. Some touch-up paint, and no one will be able to tell you creamed Steve's new truck. Lol. That's funny! Thanks for sharing that and the awesome pour today! 👍❤️🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸

Never seen anyone figure out concrete like that. I would take the full circle volume and minus the center area. As for the radius edger it was a great idea. Should get the center person to stay off to the side. Then the outside person could use the center pin to stay square to the form.
@kevinhenry7273
@kevinhenry7273 5 месяцев назад
That center cut took some cordination between outside and inside person. Could have gotten into a big argument, 'you're to fast", "no, you're to slow"😂

He took care of that right off the bat, he said you go and I’ll keep up with you. It looked like being on the outside, it was easier walking and he wasn’t having to keep the edger against the form.

Tom that center joint looks great. I like the way you set up the deep jointer with the edger. Tom have you guys always used the crushed rock under your concrete slabs? We used aggregate base with fines in it and would viber plate to compact. Now my friend did a slab and they used the crushed rock. In all my years it was compacted AB. They told me now the theory is to allow the water to get through the rock. Boy I wish you were close to me as I would love to have you guys do all my concrete in my front and rear yard. Always impressed watching you and your crew. I like to see how things where you live are done compared to the way they do it here. Have a great weekend. Can't wait to see the entire project finished.

+ Nicely done , could be more complicated but easier and precise ; (1) use three tools ; one in the middle and two at the edges ; inside and outside the circle , (2) using two pieces of 2x4 shaped like a T and nailed up at each end so you don't have to kneel down but doing it standing up also enabling you to put 2 guys on each end and 2 pieces of tools on each end instead of one to keep it leveled , (3) Still have to tie it to the center ; it doesn’t have to be lumber but you can use a robe ; 2 pieces ; tied up to a piece of reinforcing bar in the center of the circle ; one at the bottom say 6” from the ground and the other say 2’ or 3’ feet up to keep it leveled . Overkill …!!
@Mike-y3q
@Mike-y3q 5 месяцев назад
+ First run is just scoring the 3 cuts; say half an inch all the way around in a minuet or so ; then a second run going a bit deeper …… and so on !! So you would have these 4 suckers running after each others in circles for a while !! 🥴😜🤣

I would think because of the geometry your best bet would be to attach the board to the center post and then just move around the circle and cut line will be perpendicular all the way around .perfect 😊😊

Your measurement for volume would be easy to measure the outer circle radius, calculate the area of the outer circle (3.1415*radius squared) and subtract the area of the inside circle then multiple by the thickness. Or if you have the perimeter or circumference of the circles since you used lengths of boards curved around, the area is the circumference squared divided by 4 times 3.1415.

That looked really nice Tom. On top of the many hats y0u wear, i will have to add inventor as well, that edger, jointer worked fantastic, it looks like it was laid out with a laser. You might be on to something, make a light weight aluminum "board" you can attach tools and change the radius with wingnuts and such. Do not know if there is a call for that type tool, and if it would be used a lot. Great job, Steve get over the scratch on his new truck yet? Well at least he will always know he did not put the first scratch on his truck :) The upstairs look was amazing, the home owner should be well pleased with it.
