NOAA Hurricane Instruments: Glider 

NOAA's Atlantic Oceanographic & Meteorological Laboratory conducts hurricane research in order to better understand tropical cyclones, improve forecasts, and protect lives and property. To study the ocean's impact of hurricanes, and vice versa, NOAA scientists use ocean gliders that gather information on the ocean environment before, during, and after a storm passes.
