I think It pretty clear he's been a wizard for quite some time. Though it seems he's ascended from Chomsky the Grey to Chomsky the White. LOTR reference obvs...:)
While Mr Chomsky's mind is still impressively sharp for that of a 91 years old, it saddens me to see him so old. I hope he lives to be 100 at least! :)
Only if he wants to....If he doesn't, I'll be glad to have the privilege of owning first editions of all his books, and watching his interviews and lectures...
It's truly inspirational to see Chomsky still fighting the good fight after everything he has given to the world over many decades. A wave of apathy came over me with the Bernie's prospects diminishing. But if this man who is more than twice as old as me and has been fighting since far before I was born can keep going then so can I.
Thank you all for the feedback - we appreciate that there is room to improve in our video quality, and look forward to improving it. For explanation, Noam was keen on using Zoom as the primary platform for communication, yet sadly the wifi connection on one of our ends (despite numerous previous testings) did not allow for that. As such, we used a long-distance call as a replacement and substitute. The Oxford Political Review is keen on bringing the highest quality interviews and discussions to the public, so we apologise for the error, and welcome any and all suggestions for the future.
I hope you appreciate that, although Chomsky is too polite to say anything, he probably thought you were an absolute idiot when you started farting out manufactured consent about corbyn
@@oxfordpoliticalreview Chomsky is extremely gracious with his time to grant these kind of interviews, to not spend enough of your own time researching his views on a given topic is a mark of disrespect. He brushed it off but I hope you consider looking at this book, which is about the propaganda model as applied to the "labour crisis" www.plutobooks.com/9781786805720/bad-news-for-labour/
ben bernanke fucking hell, I see these sententious comments about Chomsky all the time. People speaking for Chomsky, like they’re his guardians and they’re simply appalled at his treatment. Do us all a favour and find a different hill to die on because guess what, he’s been doing this shit for the best part of a century and he can handle it without the likes of you sticking your oar in.
the interviewers reaction was stoic as hell at the end when Noam talked about how we need to tackle the biggest problems we have ever faced or "we are finished".
This is really enjoyable in so many ways. However, I think there is a big missed opportunity here in not securing a better recording of him.... we've taken all the trouble of videoing him but is mind, his words, that's what we're all here for and he wants to communicate he's so articulate.... all you needed was a microphone in the room with him.. all the effort to real time him in.... like he's worth actually sending a live human being to record him... I can't believe he gave you so much of his time and answered these questions so thoroughly but the interviewer spent more energy perfecting the recording of themselves than they did the recording of this great mind
Use Ringr for simple post-production audio quality excellence. It records both conversations at the source and then combines them afterwards for stellar playback. You can't fix the live, but the recorded video is great.
"[Trump's] climate policies are leading the way to the end of organized human life in any form that we know in the near future...Trump is alone in not only in refusing to do anything but working to accelerate the disaster." Thank you Noam Chomsky. You have inspired many generations and your example of speaking truth to power and exposing lies will be followed as long as reason and compassion exist.
Capitalism has lifted more people out of poverty than any system ever. By the way, Denmark is capitalist and has no minimum wage laws. Did Noam ever mention that? Socialism in Denmark failed in the 60s and 70s. Interesting topic to read up on.
He’s 90 so it’s to be expected. We won’t have him with us forever :( His knowledge and influence will be felt for generations to come I’m sure and we must carry the torch
The entire left should hire me to be their official sound man cuz this shit is horrible. Democracy Now!'s sound is trash too. People need to hear the message in order to understand it!
lol you got a rare interview with the 90 year old famous philosopher who could go at any moment and you fucked up the audio. I can relate bro ive fucked things up too
It shouldn't impossible. There is already some freezing technology but the unfreezing process isn't there yet. It's especially tricky with something like human brains. Also right now it's illegal to do cryonics with living people. They have to be legally dead which basically means after doctor's declaration of death. I'm pretty sure Chomsky hasn't signed up for cyopreservation though :(
See what happens when you believe in socialism, you become decrepit, and if you believe in capitalism you look young and have technology. Obvious common sense.
Brian Wong should have studied a bit about the climate crisis and nuclear threat before asking questions. The world is literally on the brink of total devastation.
Chomsky has been asked about his opinion on Peterson and he refers them to Nathan J. Robinson's article in Current Affairs. www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=www.currentaffairs.org/2018/03/the-intellectual-we-deserve&ved=2ahUKEwiHoLS92IXoAhWUtZ4KHdVMCGQQFjAAegQIBhAB&usg=AOvVaw19BCXSLg1QwLSuQsXG4mq4
Dude. You just spoke right over the top of Chomsky at one point. CHOMSKY: "I'll just quote a leading figure of modern classical liberali--" INTERVIEWER: "Yep, but with the advancement of the mechanisation of labour... " Terrible interview.
Noam's starting to look like an old testament prophet warning about the coming wrath of the climate change God if we don't forsake our carbon addiction
😮😮😯😲 Noam looking old. Wasn't sure if this was real for a minute. Unique interview. Valuable information everytime Noam speaks. Long live #NoamChomsky 🤟💙🇺🇸
Near the end hes talking exactly what economist Richard Wolff professes regarding worker owned business vs tyranny of employer/employee arrangements (wage slavery) which are so dominant.
Not well edited. I like Chomsky. Especially when he says the Russians didn't influence the Trump election and that the EU is deeply undemocratic. And by the way, the 2016 EU referendum also was not influenced by Russians. But I doubt you want to hear that. The Brits just like democracy and freedom, not the corporate driven EU elite.
Brian Wong's point about Corbyn "alienating Jews with his platform" was such horse shit, frankly. The policy that provoked the anti-Semitism hysterical witchhunt was Corbyn's unapologetic support for a Palestinian state within its internationally recognized borders. This position is identical to Bernie Sanders' position on Israel-Palestine. Is Brian Wong suggesting that Corbyn should have supported the occupation? Is supporting Apartheid compatible with Corbyn's social democratic agenda? Utter nonsense.
Might have heard you better if you didn't have him on speaker phone, Brian. Annoying to have the echo in the background and that shitty little moment left in where you were smiling while he had trouble hearing you was totally unnecessary; he gave you his time and you disrespected him with that.
Never had a good word to say about anything. Remember he’s made millions criticizing everything. This looser has done nothing with his life to help society.
Prof. Chomsky and our Editor-in-Chief Brian had a good chat earlier today, in which Prof. Chomsky said the following when it comes to whether Sanders should consider offering VP to Warren: "Not really up to Sanders right now. Warren hasn't indicated which way she wants to go. For many voters, including most of the black population, the imperative is to end the Trump curse, and it's not clear what's the best path for that. One way or another, the party's been shifted to the left, and if the younger people hang on -- they didn't turn out to vote in great numbers -- that could make a lasting difference."
