You could not have used a better quote... Random citizens are being kidnapped... rows of peaceful mothers beaten up! Yet... we still teach others that America is "the land of the free". It never was...
Ok...so how would you define freedom within the confines of a civilization?? Freedom is and has always been a broad term to define. So let's hear your ideas of freedom...
I'm so tired of how difficult it is to make ends meet while knowing all these sneaky shameless criminals make more money in one day than what I will make in all my life.
He’s obviously a very bright individual has never had a real job. And now has the luxury of expressing opinions without proof or any standard of reason.
@@LOSTONITALL It's not about reading what people say about other people because he isn't taking part in a popularity contest. What it should be about is looking at what is happening; state the facts and then do the research before you come to an educated conclusion on the subject matter. First off when you listen to donald speak which I (unlike you) often do. Then you can come to a reasonable conclusion that the guy is an idiot. That is all the research it takes, just listen to him speak. Especially when he isn't using a prompt. Just based on grammar alone you can easily conclude the man is a moron. Just look at the stuff he has been saying about the pandemic recently because it's all been wrong. Even fox news has pointed this out.
You mispelled profit. He's a joke exploiting nitwits like you that have stars in their eyes because, unlike you, he can strings more than four words together to form a sentence.
We have been in a decline since the reagan era the atta boys who put him there instilled the gov with many aswell. After 13 in which I watch it opened my eyes to the fact we need new rules so we can run our country as a whole for all.may the Good Lord be with us
Oh yes, you have zeroed-in on the start of the unravelling of America. Prior to Reagan, our nation had been steadily heading toward tolerance, acceptance, empathy, inclusiveness, equality and fairness for all since the presidency of Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
As a disabled homeless Veteran for the past 19 months, I am furious with this President's actions. His desire to disperse this nations wealth to the rich, while the poor suffer more and more. His lack of any real coordinated national covid-19 response causing unnecessary deaths across our country. His ability to lie and surround himself others that will also lie for him. His ability to ignore the constitution when it benefits him. This list could go on and on.. Meanwhile I am broke, stranded near Kingman Arizona, due to the inability to tow my derelect nearly 50 year old 10 foot trailer with my van due to mechanical issues. It's 110 degrees this week... I had been living on disability with housing assistance, prior the Donald Trump's presidency, but his desire to gut programs of funding and make it easy for large corporations to line their pockets. The large apartment complex I was living, along with many other residents , was sold to a huge rental property company. This resulting in notice they would no longer accept housing assistance. They informed those affected we would have to pay their rents in full without assistance, or move. I found that searching for an affordable apartment was going nowhere. The corporate takeover of many affordable housing options, so as to rent for more money and profit. My Section 8 housing assistance voucher expired before my rental contract with the Paragon/ Nolan Apartments in Mesa did. I left my apartment spotless, moved out prior to my final date, and still the kept the deposit. I have been homeless since. As a Air National Guard Veteran, I don't quality for any VA benefits, so I have been on my own to deal with homeless. I now just pray this election everyone votes to remove trump
@@CWYMAN77 Chomsky’s double standard policies are outrageously just so ridiculous. He’s instrumental through this whole process of claiming that we need the government to handle our wealth and Income but at the same time states that government and corporation have too much power...
@@justinkerrigan5863 You aren't grasping what he's saying because you can't comprehend it. Chomsky has a way of talking that is simple so the majority understand what he's saying but some let everything he sais fly right over his head because of personal opinion. So let me see if I can make it even simpler. The two party system is an illusion. They all have one common goal and that is to obtain money, power & control by any means. The republicans blame the democrats and the democrats blame the republicans and that leaves us to busy to focus on what's really going on. None of these politicians have our interest. They are merely puppets to a bigger agenda and that is to divide the American people specifically the working class and the poor because we are the majority in this country. There is no democrat vs republican or black vs white, it's the rich vs poor.
A breath of fresh air to hear someone so well informed as Mr. Chomsky. The business party has indeed taken over the show and is failing U.S. citizens miserably.
“The real difficulty is with the vast wealth and power in the hands of the few and the unscrupulous who represent or control capital. Hundreds of laws of Congress and the state legislatures are in the interest of these men and against the interests of workingmen. These need to be exposed and repealed. All laws on corporations, on taxation, on trusts, wills, descent, and the like, need examination and extensive change. This is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people no longer. It is a government of corporations, by corporations, and for corporations.” ― Rutherford B. Hayes, Diary and Letters of Rutherford Birchard Hayes: Nineteenth President of the United States
and this is why they kill the president john f Kennedy and now with the force vaccines, there is an alliance both mr.trump and bill gates God help us all!
REGIME CHANGE needs to be implemented in The USA. It’s about time The USA got a taste of its own medicine. Overthrow The Number One Terrorist Organization in The World that is The US Government allied to The US Military Industrial Complex and corrupt Corporate US Companies, The stink of US Corruption is so rife that you can smell it from across The Globe everywhere. Regime Change coming from The American People in the form of Revolution and a Government Overthrow is what is required.
While I don't disagree with Mr. Comsky's analysis of the wealthy and the corporations; I do disagree with calling Trump's administration a dictatorship. It's just not even close to that per the definition. I have the deepest respect and admiration for Mr. Chomsky's intelligence, pure love of country, and the desire to pass on his knowledge. Will be tough to find another like him.
What kills me is that thinkers like this are absolutely correct, yet still blame Capitalism, when everything he describes is not the result of Capitalism at all. Government has successfully suspended the laws of economics and continue to suspend others, creating these problems. Under a system of sound money, which ended in 1971, and sound economics, which ended in 1913, these problems would not be nearly as severe or widespread. He’s correct about the pandemic as well and it being a thin veil for more central planning. He is perfectly describing he danger of democracy and the danger of big government and their intersection. Yet, based on his writings, he wouldn’t agree with my views. It blows my mind.
"This never happens in a functioning democracy" And that is because the US is NOT a functioning democracy. It's not alone, of course. Russia, China, The Philippines, North Korea, Brazil, and Turkey, are just a few countries with similar issues. Sadly, this is just the company that the US is keeping these days.
How can a normal working class person like myself Defeat a person like Trump when his Business friends and Political Party seams to want to protect him? Because their all making money also? How do we break the Cycle of Greed? Sir.
That’s what the Progressives are all about. Bernie, Warren, AOC, Katie Porter, there’s lots of them. Support progressive candidates, stay informed, vote
I truly wish bright minds like Chomsky live longer and continue to enlighten people. I do not wanna miss him anytime soon. thanks to DN, please give candles like that man more flare ..spread his words and voice; something not done by mainstream corporate media..
How do you describe your current leader. You remember at all how he described little black kids playing with his leg hairs , I'm pretty sure roaches was the word he used. Just would love to know how people base their hate level so much higher for Trump than they do Biden. I don't like Trump at all but I depise Biden.
I've seen a lot of people talking about the Supreme Court without ever mentioning the difference between the Originalist approach to interpreting the Constitution and the Living Constitution concept. Basically, Originalists would determine what the Constitution meant to the people at the time it was written and they would apply it to a new concept whenever it emerges. Obviously, the founding fathers didn't know that the Internet would become a thing, but they wrote the 1st Amendment, therefore expanding freedom of speech in this new field must be done in accordance with this principle. Living Constitutionalist would essentially look at the Constitution as an evolving organism and would try to determine whether the concept stated in the Constitution changed its meaning from the time it was first written or not. That's what makes the whole difference between justice being liberal (Living Constitution) or Conservative (Originalism). Now putting the nomination process aside for a moment, after spending a significant amount of time researching the philosophical approach of SCOTUS justices, it seems, at least to me, that the Originalist approach is the most consistent approach to interpret the Constitution. Especially since the Constitution takes away a certain aspect of a Democratic process. For example, most of the people might not agree with your speech or religious practice, but you have the right to these things regardless because the 1st Amendment says you are entitled to these freedoms. There is a clause in the Constitution preventing cruel and unusual punishments. This clause can mean different things based on your idea of interpretation. The death penalty might be cruel and unusual nowadays, but back in the 18th-century death penalty was not cruel or unusual, in fact, it was the only penalty for a felony, what I’m saying that regardless of your idea of the death penalty, the idea that it can be abolished by the judiciary is simply not right. It is ok to dislike the death penalty, convince your citizen, petition your congressmen, and abolish it through legislation; after all, the Constitution does not require the death penalty. But sadly there has been a significant amount of pressure on the court with the idea being that the concept of cruel and unusual punishment has evolved over time and the death penalty must be abolished not through the democratic process, but through the judicial interference of 9 people, who are in the views of the activists, are more well equipped making the decision than the US public. The same thing goes with Roe v. Wade, although I must add that abolishing this decision is simply not visible at all, only 1 justice currently sitting has agreed to even discuss Roe v. Wade again, while others are opposed to it due to the precedent that lasted almost 50 years. However, to make a decision on Roe v. Wade the court at that time created a completely new procedure called Substantive Due Process that established that the SCOTUS has a right of simply defending certain freedoms without them ever being mentioned in the Constitution. If the Supreme Court sees some rights as crucial in accordance with this principle, it can just interfere without taking to account the text of the Constitution. This is a significant expansion of the Supreme Court, and it is quite clear that Founding Fathers or people passing the 14th Amendment didn’t intend to include a right to abortion in the Constitution. The people of the US never voted on whether abortions should be legal or not, and that doesn’t feel like a correct way to make a change in society. You can clearly convince other people and pass a law protecting the right to abortion or even amend the Constitution to enshrine it in it, but again in this situation Court curbed the democratic expression of the people and decided it on its own. Eventually, I want people to be more aware of the processes that are taking place in the SCOTUS. A lot of the time people are looking at the Court through a lens of a Legislative or Executive branch (Whether the President should make a nomination and whether the Senate should confirm it) but it is important to remember that the Judiciary is its own branch with its own ideas and concepts. If you are interested in becoming more in touch with the SCOTUS routine, I highly recommend watching some interviews of late Justice Antonin Scalia. I know that he is not very well-liked in the liberal circles; however, a lot of things that he says in regard to the interpretation are so profound and almost non-negotiable that you might find that Originalism is not a terrible concept after all.
Billionaireism is a unique and recent phenomenon given that in 1960 there were very few of them. Today there are over 2000. What they do is not capitalism; it's growth through acquisition and/or liquidation of smaller competitors, often through nefarious practices that they can get away with due to government deregulation (the billionaires now regulate governments). That is why your local town no longer has a bank, a newspaper or a TV station, and that is why your local farmers are being forced off.
And what the UN, WHO, WEF, etc... along with Gates, Zuckerberg, Clinton foundations... I’d respect him more if he called out the real fascists. At least Trump is elected
The only thing exceptional about America is how exceptionally profitable it is for corporations and the 1%. From 1950 to 1980 there was an overall increase in upward socioeconomic mobility for a vast majority of Americans, from 1980 till now it’s shown a drastic and sharp decline. This is a fleecing, a robbery. The wealth inequality in America is worse than what it was prior to the French Revolution. As long as people stay compliant, indifferent or just plain ignorant this will continue.
At the time, I thought George W's Whitehouse years were eerily similar to Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" book. Now, we're actually living in it. Always loved you Noam!
God Bless You Norm. Great Sayer, Greatest Sage of our time, in mho, though there be many. Your timeless message may yet be in time Sir, 11/03/2020. Pray God, this is so, as I believe, your prophetic insights to be valid, and worthy of notice by women and men of good intention to stand and deliver on Democracy‘s behalf. Long life to you Sir, Peace Be Upon You Norm, Upon You Be Peace.
Please implement a permanent UBI now! Then we can transition to a RBE. Also support the Money Free Party and The Venus Project so we can finally go beyond politics poverty and war. That is if we wish to make it as a species.
Always need to pause and take stock after listening to Chomsky. Holding truth to power for as long as long as he still has breath to fight; this is what a true "patriot" looks like.
"But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain, that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist." - Lysander Spooner
Chastity Hunter don’t become a slave to the wealthy. Don’t buy into the advertising that tells you that you need their products. Live within your means, which for most means no expensive cell phone, no car payments, no name brand shoes or clothing, etc. living debt free gives you freedom that is worth more than all of the things that you do without. By the way life is much more simple without all the bells and whistles that are a constant source of anxiety for most who possess them.
God bless and thank you to Noam Chomsky. True intelligence, insight and wisdom and always articulate with his commentary on any subject. More valid and on point than all MSM, podcasts and modern wimp journalists combined.
Bring back the common law to protect the rights of the people. People are not supposed to be taxed directly, and government is to be funded by taking care of the business of the people (and taxing it). And with tariffs of course. Do this and render the politicians irrelevant to most.
