It's fun to hear your thoughts on the Cosmere! For now, you can just take the term "The Cosmere" to be the in-world term for "The Universe". Maybe near the end of the trilogy, you will know enough to lightly sketch the meta-narrative, and admire this sandbox Brandon Sanderson has made for his stories, as well as be intrigued to read more!

Lol incredible theory at the beginning here guys. My fan cast for TLR would be Henry Cavil. He's even a Sanderson fan. Just let him grow out his hair.

There is a name for a gold misting! What would you name someone who sees strange visions of their own alternate futures?

If you want to know more about eleventh metal (and some Kelsier backstory), you can read short story "The Eleventh Metal". It is a very small prequel story that doesnt contain any spoilers. It is available in "Arcanum Unbounded: The Cosmere Collection". BUT be very careful, Arcanum contains ALOT of spoilers, especially in mistborne section of the book. Do not read anything else apart from "The Eleventh Metal" even post script and world descriptions. It is a much safer read after book 3.

idk? Basically all I know is that I've been told referring to the Cosmere is like referring to the MCU and for some reason I have it in my mind that there's portals involved. I'm sure I'll find out eventually!

@@NOAYPodcast The Cosmere is like if the MCU didn't turn into a disjointed mess and blow its load after completing its first major arc.

While we're waiting for the recording to start, I have a question: why is it called "Mistborn Abridged" when you're literally reading through each chapter line by line? Isn't that, like, kinda the complete opposite of abridged? (Also, is it kosher legally? Other podcasts I've listened to have talked about not quoting too many lines on air for copyright reasons, so I was wondering how this was okay).

Great questions with a couple of answers! The series was partially inspired by Alt Schwift X's 'Game of Thrones Abridged' series. I had initially imagined the format would be a bit closer to the way he does his series which would have made it a bit more 'abridged', I think? That said, he basically has an encyclopedic knowledge base of GoT whereas Kitteh and I are going in blind which necessitated some changes. (I am trying to come up with a better name for Well of Ascension but I keep coming back to 'Ascension Abridged') I also wasn't aware of just how 'tight' Sanderson's prose was when we started which makes finding lines to 'cut' tremendously more difficult. A good example of what I initially thought the series would be like would be the Venture heist early on in the book where I'm vaguely describing the fighting instead of just reading it. I don't think it worked as well as what it's become. Add on top of that, I think the series has kind of 'grown' since it's first few episodes as Kitteh and I have discovered what we think 'works' and 'doesn't work' (which resulted in us reading more). With regard to the copyright issues, (I'm not a lawyer), I will say there are lines that we cut. Usually the 'he said' stuff but some motions and descriptions as well. The only chapters we read 'in full' are the blind blind reads because we literally have not read them before hand. I'm inclined to think between the silly/inconsistent voices and the commentary what we do would fall under the category of being transformative.
