N&C have been trendsetters for a long time. Everyone praises Craviotto for their steam bent, solid shells, yet they seem to forget who did it first! Great video!!
tama has acknowledged many times that their starclassic maple drums, we're inspired by noble & cooley cd maples. i talked about this on the tama forum and they are big fans of the noble & cooley stuff. another thing i like about noble & cooley is that the prices of their drums and snares is very reasonable for such high quality gear. they are not overpriced like many other high end companies. they are priced right. many legendary drummers are noble & cooley closet drummer.
These sound absolutely incredible! No wonder so many studio engineers have recorded with them for years. You were spot on Shane when you said Noble & Cooley are not to be overlooked. These are truly professional instruments period ! Great review 👍
I had a 1st gen Horizon kit that I actually sold to DCNH a few years ago. Fantastically well made kits. Even though the sizes were completely different, they sound from the same family as this sample file here.
Noble and Cooley, to this 35 year drumming veteran's ears, are definitely the ultimate boutique drum company, even giving the Craviotto drum company a run for their money..
Back in 1992 I loved watching David Garibaldi, I know I spelled his name wrong. His vids on tuning and studio tips were awesome! I've had my N&C Maple 6.5 snare since 1990. I paid $1399. People especially engineers offer to buy it all the time. But she's not going anywhere 🥁🤘
P.S. that kick, WHAT!!! I can tell you loved it you keeping me in leaning into it. But the entire kit, just wow. I'm still getting the Tama Star Walnut. I would like to order it from you, but I'm on the "everyone's a rockstar" West Coast. How can we make that happen?
This has got be the best sounding Rock Set ever Man Maybe it's your Miking of them but damn A FULL Deep punchy Sound Im a Bop Cat Now I must Tell you I was with Creative Music way Back when Bob Gatzen joined with Jay of Noble for their Star series Which were Solid shell maple drums except bass drum then Later Horizon. Love these Drums Very high End back then another Great Drum Company and Sound was LEGEND Drums from Kaman Corporation but Again Price was very high and it shut them down their drums Spectacular Noble has endured over these years. All to the great Determination and leaving no stone unturned in materials of being Fantastic Drum Artisans. Great Job Sean
There are many great sets out there. Noble/Cooley are certainly very high on the totem pole as are Ayotte, Brady, Gms.. Today just about every company makes some very fine kits. you just have to know what you're looking for, dollar wise and sound wise. Sound is a very personal thing, and many people have different thoughts on it. There are many people that want a very dry sound, and those that want a live open sound, not to mention a high end sound, mid sound or low end. And many drummers for what ever reason have a very tough time tuning a set. This should be taught at a very early age because it's almost like many do not know how to approach the sound they're looking for.
Bill Stevenson wouldn't play just any drum company. Hearing this vid makes me think that N&C may be a large part of the recipe to the blasting rooms stellar drum sounds!! I want one.
I respectfully disagree with Shane @ 3:15. I run EC2 clear batter and EC Reso heads on my DW Custom Maple kit, and those toms sound killer. They don't kill the sound of the drums at all.
The drum sound I look for !!! (Along with looking) I won't regret for sure. Anyway, Could any body please compare this to CD-maple (Attack , cut , project ,volume , tone , sustain , etc...) Thank you.
I think these drums are equalized, so they sound better than they really do, BUT, if I am wrong and this IS their real natural sound, then this must be the best drumset in the world. Amazing sound and look.
This is very accurate to the way they sound in the room. The only processing done to the video is a little global EQ to make it sound more like the way it sounds when you are playing it.
@@Jetty-xd9yc FYI Pearl makes KILLER drums too across ALL price points...Don't be such an elitist snob...Pearl's reputation in the 80's & (0's was (and still is) top notch....Get over yourself
@@robsingletary2383 you should dig into my history before you start talking s***. I toured on a pearl export black with most of the wrapping warped for two years with a band called " No Doubt " and 6 months with " Toad the wet sprocket ". Who in my opinion was much better than no doubt. Do me a favor Rob click on my photo and read my bio I'm not an elitist not in the least bit so stop throwing stones. Troll
Jon Lebiecki NOT everyone is a Jazz player who tippy taps on their drums, there are some players that like to hit hard. Some single ply heads won't give the desired sound or durability for Rock/Hard Rock/Metal players .....Whatever works & desireable by an individual is fine....DOUCHEBAG
