@ethanschmid4104 Field Marshalls are Zealots - or, more specifically, they are members of the same caste, within the Ministry of Fervent Intercession. Militarily, the authoritative difference was negligible - but, within the Ministry, it was a pretty big deal. That said, they're Zealot-class.
Thel Vadam (The Arbiter) was the Supreme Commander of the Covenant fleet during the battle for Reach. Cool to know that The Arbiter was aware of the Spartans in Noble Team, Blue Team, and Red Team, and sent the Covenant forces each team faced. And ultimately became an ally of The Master Chief, Blue Team’s leader.
Ironic that we killed that elites entire squad and throughout the game we see it hunting us down, and by the time we actually fight it we are the only one of our squad left as well (not counting Jun)
@@Gentle_Pyromancer what I seen in 2015 or 2016 someone explain what happened to Jun, he was last seen on a pelican with Dr.H and later onec he gotten off reach he did the Spartan lV program by training newer recruits and by that time Dr.H talk to Jun because Jun was trying to quit the military to become a businessman and Dr.H help him out and what I remembered he was sent to a plant because he wasn't no longer in the UNSC and the planet got invaded and that's is where Jun die on, But I just looked it up to make sure I was right, but no I was wrong 😂 thxs for telling me he's alive

Do love this detail in reach, makes the zealots way more intimidating than in other games, definitely my favourite zealots in the series with the CE ones close behind.
I mean they already have fixed the elites designs so it seems like they could make it become a reality and a good game. Although it’d probably exclude multiplayer kinda like Halo 3 ODST

Carter made the appropriate tactical decision. The elites had close quarters weapons (energy swords). Sending Emile down an unknown corridor, pump action only, against multiple fast movers with camo and blades would’ve been a death sentence for sure. He sent the most heavily armored (damage resistance) and most heavily armed support to backup the deadliest and most efficient combatant in the squad. He didn’t know how many enemies were actually there Emile would’ve run out of ammo Jorge definitely carried more munitions than Emile did. Also you can tell it was the only option Carter had because he has Emile handle the girl even tho he clearly gives 0 fucks about her in the scene just before the ambush LOL.
Was that elite you have to take out in the middle of the mission him? If so then the Acrophobia skull gonna get him screwed up I’m talking about the last mission. Not lone wolf
I always knew that the field marshal elite in the campaign played a big role other than just leading the invasion of reach up until Thell Vadamee and his fleet showed up. He was the guy who personally took it upon himself to hunt down you and your allies and you finally get to avenge your fallen comrades by killing him and his zealots at the cost of you staying behind.
I’d like to think that arbiter gave the orders to this field marshal and his zealot squad. As if they were the arbiters right hand in taking care of this effective spartan team on reach
Crazy how there are stuff you only learn in books and such. Like that one Elite in CE that hunted down Chief. He was that Elite in the elevator on the last mission.
It's actually more than that. You will also find that the Devoted Sentries were an integral part of the story, specifically to retrieve the Forerunner artifact data stored in the Visegrad Relay. When they ambushed Noble Team in Visegrad, you can notice they were actually coming out of active camo, which means they were watching Noble the whole time from the ledge where Sara is hiding. The Field Marshal probably recognised the Spartan team and believed they have the data now. So they waited until news came of a spartan recon team matching Noble Team's description in Nightfall. So they sent a Zealot to investigate in Tip of the Spear. After that, the Devoted Sentried found Noble again through radio intercept and specifically target Kat because they believe she was the one carrying the data. Unable to retrieve the data due to Noble Team covering her corpse, the Devoted Sentries retreated and start to comb the next likely spot: Sword Base. The Devoted Sentries deploy another Zealot, and Spec Ops elites to search Sword Base for the data, but cannot find the secret entrance to Halsey's lab (which you kill in the main atrium in The Package). The lab is discovered to be under the Ice Shelf, and the Devoted Sentries sent a battalion of Covenant to try and flush Noble team out and/or retrieve the data. They failed. So the Zealots waited for Noble team to leave with the data. After Halsey transfers the data to Cortana and gives it to Noble 6, the Devoted Sentries rightly predicted that one of the spartans was carrying the data and pursued them shortly after (this is where the final Pillar of Autumn mission cutscene starts, with the Phantom carrying the Zealots give chase to Carter's pelican). After finding out the data was not in Carter's pelican, the Devoted Sentries eventually caught up with Emile and Six. They tried to stop their escape by shooting down one of Captain Keyes' escorts but were in danger of being shot by the MAC gun. So they went to disable it and kill Emile. But they were too late. Cortana managed to escape to the Autumn and the Zealot team were now faced against a vengeful Noble Six who proceeds to kill all of them.
Last mission is just “vengeance” and from the perspective of the hordes of allies going after noble 6 to finally take him down after all he put you through.
I like to think that. There is one very specific Zealot in Tip of the spear. It can actually run away if you aren't fast enough to kill it. Some people like to think, THAT zealot, was the one who killed Kat with the sniper. 😂
This is fascinating!!! I wish we got to see the Arbiter in Reach!!!! Imagine if the Arbiter killed Noble 6!!!!! After seeing this video makes me wish that we had cutscenes with the Eleats hunting down Noble Team, it would make the game so much better.
@@FootedGhost Your totally right!! Arbiter did leed the fleet that destroyed Reach, he has over a billion casualties on his hands. He wasn't the Arbiter back then, his name was Vademy, sorry if I misspelled his name.
There is actually another Field Marshall in the last cutscene on Lone Wolf it's the last elite who shows his foot on the camera(Generalkid made video on what noble 6's face looks like)
Ah yes, but you don't see him during the campaign (besides Lone Wolves) as he came down to replace the other Field Marshall 6 killed. I believe that's the reason why another Field Marshall appeared after the Final mission, as there's usually only 1 on the ground.
You can encounter a field Marshall in all white in oni base level. Either when you come back in the courtyard you start in, (if he isn't there) you'll find him inside underneath where the gold general with a fuel rod is inside just before the finale. Only in legendary I wanna say but it's been years
Once that base blew with Junes mission I knew we were screwed taking Cortana back to the ship lol just knowing the beginning of H1 I was ahh man they finna do us. Then once you deliver it if you tilt your camera immediately to the right at that scene before the rookie says he’ll stay you can see chief sleeping 🥲
I’ve always wondered whether there were squads of elites who were tasked with hunting down different groups of Spartans on Reach or if he just held a grudge for Noble Team not dying in his ambush.
I headcanonned him and his group as being their own noble team and him hold a grudge. Like we systematically wipe his squadmates, and he is conveniently wherever we are multiple times. Makes enough sense to me
In Halo:CE, you encounter a group of covenant on an elevator in the crashed pillar of autumn near the end of the game, it’s lead by an elite but with grunts and maybe a couple jackals, I don’t remember, but that squad was tasked with hunting down and killing chief throughout the game, but failed miserably and just got wrecked by Chief at the end even though we thought it was just some more low level covenant.
@@themysticalcolby if I remember correctly Chief ends up sending the elevator either up or down so quickly with an explosion that ends up killing the Elite and his entourage. Such a shame he spent the entirety of the game failing to kill Chief and the one moment he could've suceeded the most he didn't stand a chance.
@@themysticalcolby Yeah, the elite was on a shade turret, Chief lobbed a couple of grenades Wich explode and flip the turret which lands on the elite breaking his back. I think Chief didn't finish him off right there and then.
The Field Marshall together with Ardo 'Mortumee the Elite General who was the fleet Master of the Long Night of Solace CSO Class Supercarrier, is one of the two main Antagonists of Halo Reach.
I didn't even know that the Field Marshall was the main villain of Halo reach because I thought it was just the entire covenant army but it actually makes sense because he killed two noble team members except for Jorge, Carter, Jun, and Six because in the space mission Jorge sacrificed himself to destroy the mega carrier, Carter sacrificed himself to save Six and Emile from the scarab in the final mission and in the halo comics Jun managed to escort Halsey safe from the covenant and Six managed to kill him in the final part of the final mission but even though Six managed to kill the field marshall he got ambushed and killed by three or more zealots in the end of the game which is pretty sad, but overall I would say this game's villain is probably one of the most threatening elite we got compared to the other elites we got like the red sword elite from infinite.
Seeing this reminds me of how much I wish the needle rifle would have been more popular and therefore made it into all future halo games. I liked the needle rifle more that all the precision weapons in some ways.
To me, the needle rifle and brute spiker are the coolest weapons in the entire series in concept. I wish 343 would adopt them so we can see both guns actually FINALLY take a valid place in the sandbox, which bungie kind of failed to do. I just hope they keep the designs
Makes sense why that part on Legendary was seemingly impossible and felt like I was going against sweats in PVP. I just snuck around the Elites since they were impossible to kill after you ran out of DMR and Sniper bullets.
Here is an idea, all money spent from general fund is open record. In detail what it went to like salaries, tools, projects plus its details, and all tax cuts or fee cuts open record. People can simple search the records and see where its going. Set a cap to what it can be spent without public notice announcement need to say 10k.
Also in winter contingency noble 6 is the only spartan ready and instantly firing his weapon he even almost killed the Marshall breaking its shield right away and caused it to flee

Reach forever remains my favorite game of all time, and I think, the best Halo campaign. The story, the score, the gameplay, the detail, the scale, the threat, the tragedy. All of it. MASTERFUL. Also Side note, I think the Elites in Reach were far more terrifying than in most other Halo entries. The size comparison even compared to Spartan 3's, the ferocity of their moves and A.I. The armor designs, and their general presence actually make you consider your approach. Especially on the Higher difficulties.
In my playthrough it came down to melee combat, he drew his energy sword at the last moment but he wasn't fast enough. I didn't know who he was at the time but I felt he was special and I had a sense of accomplishment even before I got to the artillery gun. Edit: spelling corrections
I know a lot of people don’t talk about June because he randomly leaves the squad but in the end it was worth cuz now he is the only spartan from that team that lived to tell the tale!
I like to think he got pissed at 6 when he killed the first two zealots in winter contingency, even more pissed when he killed the third zealot on tip of the spear, and just about lost his mind when six blew up his cso carrier. I mean it makes sense that he was the ship master of that carrier, right?
It’s cool because all noble/Spartans were haunted by the silent shadows(special force group of elite assassins) this game allowed you to experience that pretty neat
Bro I literally just beat halo reach for the first time yesterday(I’m a new player) and I already knew who he was, and was determined to get an assasination on him which I did! Most satisfying moment in halo for me🥰
The arbiter did lead the fleet of this attack on reach they had a cutscnce where they showed how master chief got away. But this was shortly before he became the arbiter we all know and love. And the field marshal was one of the generals of the fleet.
That warrior is there, whether you kill the Field Marshall or not. It's not the same warrior. When Hood remarks on Regret's fleet in Halo 2 ("The fleet that attacked Reach was _fifty_ times this size"), he wasn't exaggerating.
Him being the main antagonist is really quite a wise move: he is a smaller scale enemy than seen in other titles, and because of this lesser importance, it helps the futility of Noble Team's actions really sink in.
Emile was the legend 27 for taking two of ‘em out back to back and clearing a way for the pillar to get clear if it wasn’t for him then we’d have no halo
There is a rare hidden elite as well, not sure if it's a zealot but his armor is all white, he holds duel plasma rifles and is very illusive I've seen him in winter contingency and at sword base..
Their mission was to kill Noble team. They almost succeeded since Jun got off reach. They technically failed twice. Losing to 6 and missing Jun. But man they were close. At minimum tens of thousands died just by taking Six out of the picture.
The zealot you kill on Tip of the spear was probably sent by the field Marshall to try and retrieve the data from visegrad relay, the zealots lead by the field Marshall were hunting forerunner artefacts in the first mission, and be probably tracking noble team throughout the campaign
I knew he was the only Field Marshall in the game and knew that was him but I didn't know he had his own AI. I totally remember him switching weapons and stuff now that's pretty cool
I distinctly remember playing through oni sword base on the 360 on legendary with thunderstorm on and there was a field Marshall on the courtyard before the hunter fight.
Oh damn, I figured the one who killed Kat was just a random jackal sniper. I didn't even notice the elite that killed Emile was the same one from the first mission. I just got the Falcon Sweep set from Mega Construx, now I gotta see if Mega has made a elite similar to how this looks
Master Chief was also hunted by an elite spec ops during the events of CE. Chief eventually killed him and a grunt (who I believe was YapYap but I might be wrong) before he made his escape off Installation 00.
Would be cool getting a full halo game where you play as the covenant as either elites or brutes during the time period of reach or maybe a year or two before
Apparently from what I heard. Kat was a bad driver because she is going roughly where the player *looks*. If thats the case, Kat isn't a bad driver. We are bad navigators.
@@Named_Acount i mean cat has the same drivers AI as any other npc in halo. Halo npcs just have absolute dogshit friendly AI, which is kind of what halo is known for if you play it seriously. Which is also why you never get into the gunners seat in any halo game when playing solo because its just gonna get you killed on difficulties that matter
The fieldmarshall zealot didnt die, he survived, because the RU-vidr Named generell kidd made the cutscene where noble 6 died to an in game Event, and the elite who Held the energy sword at the end Was Held by the fieldmarshal But in the cutscene you cant really see it because of the camera, but anyway...
