You cannot imagine how refreshing that bus scene was for me. Feels nice to see the protagonist get as much damage as the bad guys. Always appreciate a healthy dose of realism in a fight scene.

Yes! That’s why I like this movie. Realism, especially the Bro in-law faux-relationship & his multi-racial (government letter-man) family. And the moment the guy he was supposed to K*ll, sees the family he has, he realized his own words, his own words, should be listened to.

The interesting thing is that it's the same writer/creator and the same basic plot as the first John Wick, but at each point, he made different decisions about how to approach the story. It's still a story about a former killer who goes to war against the Russian mob after a young family member of a mob boss goes rogue and gets into a conflict with the main character. They still raid his house. He still raids their storehouse and burns their valuables. He still gets into a final showdown with the mob boss and kills him. It's amazing that everything can be so much the same and yet so different.

This movie makes me think of a blend of something like 'John Wick' and 'A History of Violence'. I love that Bob Odenkirk plays a bad ass who isn't invincible. He can take a hit and keeps getting up. It's sort of like 'John Wick' who is all about drive and determination. But there's also the 'A History of Violence' aspect of having a family and trying to live the normal life only to realize that maybe it isn't for you. In this case you can tell he loves his family, but he was also tired of being someone he wasn't. This movie is just so damn entertaining and had a great blend of action and comedy.

@Do0msday
@Do0msday 10 месяцев назад
@@i_love_rescue_animals I meant in terms of action and family life. Obviously 'Nobody' adds more humor and that's why I think it manages to stand out so much. Bob Odenkirk has great delivery and he actually enjoys what he does whereas someone like John Wick views it as more of a profession. Although I did hear rumblings that they were considering placing both of them in the same movie universe, but I hope that doesn't happen.

The director described Hutch as an alcoholic who falls off the wagon. Only, instead of alcohol, it's violence. So he keeps wanting it more and more as the movie goes. Also, this movie shares the same writer and producer as John Wick. That's why people compare them. People also have a fan theory (or maybe hopes) that they are in the same universe. And it definitely released to theatres because I saw it in theatres and loved it.

If you're not aware of it, both John Wick and Nobody were written by the same screenwriter. According to him, both characters exist in the same universe. There has been rumors of doing a crossover between the two franchises but they're owned by different studios so it probably won't happen, though that's what everyone thought about the Aliens and Predator franchises and Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th as well. As far as a sequel to Nobody, it's in the works. They're supposed to start principal photography sometime this year, though my bet is sometime next year before they start.

9/10 Gimme 'Nobody 2' An absolute blast! 'Nobody' is a supremely entertaining action flick. Most of it actually feels fairly usual for a film of this sort, yet the way everything is presented is great! The pacing is perfection, the musical choices are fully on point and then you also have strong cast performances. Bob Odenkirk is of course (rightly) super acclaimed for that role as a certain lawyer elsewhere, so it's nice to see him doing other things. He is superb in this from beginning to end. Aleksei Serebryakov also gives a good performance, as also seen in television's 'McMafia'. Christopher Lloyd and RZA are fun, too. The action is top notch, especially the fight stuff, and the humour - whilst not in your face - is noteworthy as well. It all comes together to make a fantastic 90 minutes that truly fly by. Gimme 'Nobody 2'.
@LordLOC
@LordLOC 10 месяцев назад
Now it depends on Bob Odenkirk's health situation. After his heart attack he has to be more careful with roles like this at this age. He worked really, really hard to get into shape and to be able to do these action scenes. Which probably saved him from a worse outcome with the heart attack to be honest. Now, he's said he and the director want to do a sequel and they set things up and the "world" obviously can support many, many sequels lol so we'll see what happens. Also, the rumor for a while was some sort of cross over movie with the John Wick franchise, and I forget which director said it, but it was basically said they are in the same universe. So, who knows?

@w1975b
@w1975b 10 месяцев назад
found the comment again, here it is - @NotJustPersian 5 months ago -If your talking about the tattoo of the "7 of Spades & 2 of Diamonds". Its actually a reference to the US DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency)'s Most-Wanted Members PIPC (Personality Identification Playing Cards) Protocol for the US led Coalition to easily identify Saddam Hussein's key players within the government after the invasion in 2003. The highest, most dangerous, and with the ut most importance were given the "Aces, Kings Queens, & Jacks" of all suits. While all other subjects who were affiliated and subject to the same targeting were given the "10-2" cards of all suits. But also you gotta think this was early on in the invasion and was very common and was widely known Troops played cards to pass the time so CO's and NCO's both alike figured it'd be perfect time to bring back an old Protocol of the DIA. -But another bit of added history here, what a lot of people don't know is Iraq wasn't actually where the use of the "playing cards" for PIPC originated from, In fact its had been used 3 times prior, THE FIRST EVER being throughout the American Civil War. Then during World War II following the Pearl Harbor Attack, Army Air Corps decks printed these "playing cards" with the silhouettes of German and Japanese fighter aircraft for the PIPC Protocol. The last use of these "playing cards" PIPC Protocol was during the Korean War. -To put it into more perspective though even though Targets were already divided and given respective playing cards, it goes beyond that. Because Each Suit of cards represented a specific group of people (in which depending on how its going to be to take them out they are separated accordingly). When you break that down, Its even furthermore widely known anyone Identified with any Spade card, its mere suicide going after that target no matter how many people you bring simply because of the blow back that'll come with. While Clovers Targets come after Spades, Hearts after Clovers, and Diamonds after Hearts. What I'm saying is Targets with a Spade or Clover playing card Identifier is a Suicide mission while Targets with a Hearts or Diamonds is still very dangerous just not as costly. Now its up to the viewer to presume which card came first, but based on how the "2 of Diamonds looks a bit faded compared to the 7 of Spades" I can almost say IMO, I would say the protagonist had completed a "2 of Diamonds" Target first then sometime at somepoint completed a "7 of Spades" Target forcing them into hiding with a new identity and a new life, one of which is clearly hidden from the family. I hope this helps anyone better understand kind of a bit more information surrounding the tattoo around the "Playing Cards", and if anyone dares to ask how or why I bothered to type this even though no one asked, well someone will eventually ask, and I come from a long line Military Family + I went to college for 2 years studying to become a history teacher, prior to dropping out and taking over a Family Business after somethings happened.

RED... JOHN WICK... HOME ALONE... EQUALIZER... maybe TAKEN... and I really loved that The Wife knew all and wasn't a whiny-baby about any of it. She wasn't a foe against him - she was his ally, his partner. Perfect!

Also of note... after the first burglary home-invasion, Nobody heads downstairs and the little girl joins him on the couch - where she drops the kitty-kat bracelet.

The desperate couple picked his house to rob because it was easiest to get into, he had missed the garbage so many times that the built up garbage pile (pizza box) prevented the garage door from closing thus giving them access to the house since most people don't lock the door from the mainfloor into the garage in a attached-garage home. The just go with it Hollywood part is that automatic garage door units will stop and return to open when they encounter anything stopping it from fully closing ie: garbage, your vehicle not in all the way, a human 😅

This was one of the greats, as everyone involved brought something great to the table, as you never knew where this was headed next. The start showing him beat to hell was perfect, as there's no way everyone didn't think, how the hell did this all happen? Then at the end, you return to that scene knowing all that happened, and it was the perfect finish when he walked out with nothing more than "have a nice day" we can't touch you. John Wick is an amazing franchise, but this being based much more in reality was it's magic sauce, looking forward to a part 2, but I'm more than fine if this is only one, as it's perfect that way.

Love that you two watched this one. It’s a great movie. I always liked that it is more of a brawler because John Wick is more martial arts heavy. This movie is compared to John Wick because it has the same screenwriter. Bob Odenkirk had been home invaded (twice I think) and disliked how the police handled it so he would fantasize he was badass enough to handle it himself. So he got the John Wick writer to write him as such. Derek Kolstad the writer wrote it in the same universe as John Wick but because it’s release by a different studio it probably will never crossover.

The tattoo on Hutch's wrist, a Seven of Spades and a Two of Diamonds, is statistically the worst possible starting hand you can be dealt in Texas Hold 'Em, since they are the lowest two cards that cannot make a straight (there are four cards between 2 and 7), and both of them are off-suit. Meaning if you ever see these two cards, you should fold immediately, because you are most likely never going to win. In Tarot readings, the Spade/Sword is linked to bad luck, death, and violence, while Diamonds/Coins are linked to money. Translation: This man dealt in death and violence for money.
