@@SilverHandLr well not only that but alot of people have no clue what's it like doing agricultural work and this was a fairly decent way to show it. That and I love slice of life stuff.
Aside from Yukinobu Tatsu (Dandadan) who you mentioned, the other assistants who worked with Fujimoto on Fire Punch and Chainsaw Man are Yuji Kaku (Hell's Paradise) and Tatsuya Endo (Spy x Family).
I don't really watch streamers and am only really interested in manga discussions, happened to get recommended this and was pretty impressed with how much stuff you guys mentioned, not just the mainstream manga. Literally raised my eyebrows hearing you talk about Uchuujin no Kakushigoto as well as the Tachiyomi drama lmao, agreed with a lot of the opinions here too and can tell how much you guys like manga. Seems like some great variety manga content which is really fucking rare on youtube, subbed The Pool is an interesting new series from the mangaka behind Ajin, one of the best action manga ever.
To contrast, I'm here because I just like listening to these guys talk, and love their vibe from time to time since forever. Point is, very cool to hear this hits with actual manga fans too!
Some small corrections: 9:29 Apothecary diaries initially started as a web novel (free online) was written as a light novel, then adapted to manga and now adapted as an anime 15:31 Violet Evergarden is not an original, but based off a light novel (Kyoto Animations, studio for VE, is known to hold LN competitions and adapt the winners) Love the podcast regardless! Got lots of good recommendations :D
Apothecary diaries actually started as an idea in the head of its creator way before it got released as a web novel. Also, Violet Evergarden is considered a Netflix original. It kind of doesn’t make sense to make corrections if they’re not going to be correct.
@@coasterthekid8867 netflix originals doesn’t mean anything, they didn’t fund the production of VE at all it was simply bought off kyoani after they completed the anime. all stories starts off as an idea in the creator’s mind so idk where u r going w that comment
@@coasterthekid8867netflix original just means netflix is the only place to watch a series (legally) in that country. Other shows like Beastars, Dungeon Meshi, My Happy Marriage, and more are netflix originals even though they are based off manga and LN because netflix is the only service to stream it. Doesnt make sense to correct corrections if you arent going to be correct
Frieren is quickly becoming one of the anime greats that elevate the source material by a significant margin. I was already a fan of the manga, but the anime really gets me in the feels and both of the Japanese and English dubs are excellent. Get ready for a feels trip if you pick this series up in either medium.
Loved the new podcast, the name is very ad hoc. The Mushoko tensei story is originally a light novel and that one is done. I wonder what you are your thoughts on the last 2 episodes of Solo Leveling. Hoping for many more Fake fan takes in the future.
Definitely would recommend to watch Frieren and Witch and the Beast. Those are together with Apothecary dieries definitely the biggest surprises of winter season.
My recommendation for now since i read a lot of manhwa is double click, it is a great esport manhwa with a realistic mc whose weakness is old pc and motion sickness. It's fun to read and really reflect about some drama when you're working in a team about a goal in this case winning a highschool esport tourney to became a pro.
Black clover knows what it is and it’s amazing for it! I’m two arcs behind rn I think but I’m going to catch up eventually! I’m at where SPOILERSSS: Julius was a traitor
Really enjoyed just the casual banter. Skeptical on longevity of this as there is only so much anime /manga content you can go through but looking forward to the direction / topics going forward.
I mean this is just the first episode, I'm sure they'll find their niche and there are always interesting topics in anime and beyond I mean trash taste pod is almost 200 episodes
@@InternetsPedestrian that's the exact reason for my scepticism. Trash taste members have gone on record to say an anime only podcast is difficult due to content and being gated behind seasons. Trash taste alternate between anime focused and none anime content constantly. But they've been around for years. I'm all in on the Scarra X Peter arc and I'll come along for the ride, however long or short it is.
@@Gameblocked It's also kind of an un-said thing, but the anime community, like Twitch audiences, is self-limiting. You can't really grow a bigger audience out of it. Trash Taste has a big in-built audience, but it's hard to grow out of that, whereas somebody like Chris, who appeals to the same age group but with a more normie audience has a longer career path because he won't have to still be talknig about anime and hentai in his late 40's if he's still making videos.
I always loved listening to peter, scarra and celine talk about anime and manga on stream and the same as a podcast has hooked me in by a mile. I'm really excited for the future.
As someone who has binge read more manga than all of my friends combined x10, I agree with the favorites - maybe that dates me since I did end up becoming one of the stronger American youth Go players back in the day lmao Haikyu was the first anime for me that elevated the manga.
it's so crazy to hear these two talking about girls of the wild because i quite literally have never met another person who has read it in real life or online in my area nobody really reads manga or manhua
Another series people should check out from Hiromu Arakawa is her adaptation of the Heroic Legend of Arslan, especially if you enjoy grand medieval war stories.
Quotes of the EP "That series sucked ass, but I read the whole thing." "What is the act that produces children though?" - Peter "Boruto is a great example where umm- there's- it's bullshit." "The art studio pumps them out like KIDS." - Scarra
I remember Peter essentially introduced me to manga/hwa, recommending Solo Levelling back in the playing Midsummer Madness on repeat on stream era, good times
Bro I didn't know this existed, I'm pumped! Some corrections For both Apothecary And Mushoku, they were both LNs/WNs. The manga isn't the original. Oh and the entire point of Mushoku Tensei is that the MC isn't likable 😅.
Calling the Apothecary in The Apothecary Diaries for a concubine kinda hurt lol. And please don’t be one of those podcasts that shit on Shōjo just for the sake of it, it’s not only romance and all art is not the same. It’s a demographic meaning it can cover all sorts of genres and styles. Feels like a lot of details like the ones above were missed but other than that I am happy having a manga podcast to listen to and I’m sure you’ll improve over time!
I fuck with Toriko ALOT! Also have either of you ever read Gantz? I feel like not much people talk about it. Its definitely my favorite manga! (We don't talk about the anime adaptation). Last thing, Do you guys read manhuas or read Chinese cultivation novels? Because I honestly think cultivation media doesn't get much love/attention.
The moment I heard you guys say the MC from Mushoku Tensei gives you an ick, you guaranteed me as a viewer of your podcast, cause, HARD SAME. Now I'll keep watching the rest of it, lol
About My Hero Academia... I think it's gotten good lately. I think it slows down somewhere after the Festival Arc, but it picks up again. Things that have been set up since the beginning of the series are now coming back. You've got character introspection, commentary on hero society, and intimate interconnections between what it means to be a "hero" and a "villain." As someone who had dropped it a while back before picking it up again, I'd say give it another chance. Enjoyed the vid.
Love both those!! Honey and Clover being my favorite series ever! Listening to Peter talk about Silverspoon made me think of it as well, ill have to give it a try.
I wish that the background is/are of "ANIME figurines", Manga-stuffs or anything similar, instead of just some plants. Suggestion: do a video where Scarra and Peter are buying anime/manga-related-stuff for their background.
semi-mainstream recommendations: - Skip & Loafer (manga, but the anime is amazing too!) - Dungeon meshi (favorite manga ever, the ongoing netflix anime is gr8) - Witch Hat Atelier (reading through it now! Really great stuff)
I would love it if you can list all the mangas/animes you've mentioned, maybe in the comment section or description, so that we can come back to it and pick which ones to try
The Demon Slayer anime adaptation is terrible and insulting. The manga is just on another level, no piece of fiction can match it really in any category - writing, art, design, etc.
PLEASE PLEASE check out the mushoku tensei Anime or LN the Manga is the weakest form of the story. I totally get where youre coming from on it giving you the ICK and i think thats fair even as someone who has it in their top 5 LN's ive read. But on the point of him being "not likable" and "not moving on from who he was in his previous life". 1. The core premise and theme of the whole series is about facing ones past and improving yourself (its in the title Jobless Reincarnation: "I WILL SERIOUSLY TRY IF I GOT TO ANOTHER WORLD"). 2. NOT liking a character is 1000% better than feeling nothing. I would for sure recommend watching and finishing the first 25 episodes because it is genuinely BETTER than the source material it is working off of AND it's some of the best art, animation, set design, and passion I've seen in anime in the last 5 years
26:00 me with chainsaw man. The manga currently is so terrible. It's literally just a rip-off of FIre Punch (by the same author). Also Solo Leveling, the second half is the most boring thing I have ever read
I've never related so hard to something lol I love reading manga/webtoons way way more than watching the anime I've done the same thing as scarra where I recommended the anime to something I've only read
Blue Lock is incredibly based. Mushoku Tensei is worth the watch if you can stomach watching the main character and a few other characters be sick perverts. With every fair warning, the main character will do almost every reprehensible s*xual act you can think of where violence or coercion isn't involved. Some other characters will take it even farther because the world and its people can be horrible and unforgiving. Tread carefully with this series because it is GRITTY but will leave you satisfied and wanting more. The Wrong Way to use Healing Magic is super fun.
I tried a place in DC called Kappo, female sushi chef named Minoru Ogawa that is currently running. A special wagyu menu instead of fish to make the sushi. Heavenly.
Recommendations: "Kokou no Hito" and also "Innocent"(Innocent has a sequel, Innocent Rouge) by Shin-ichi Sakamoto but warning for innocent, has some fucked up things going on due to the setting
Mushoku Tensei Manga is not finished, the manga is currently just updated to start volume 12 whereas the light novel series are finished at volume 26. That's not counting the redundancy books which there may be 1 or 2 more of. The mushoku tensei manga is pretty heavily criticized in its community as it dumbs down a lot of the character thoughts and a lot of story aspects in general. Mushoku Tensei is at its core weighs characters as imperfect very heavily, a lot of the times its the point that the characters are scummy. You aren't supposed to like rudeus, the guy is literally trash. Its definitely something that's in a category of you love it but can't recommend it. You do need to have some thick skin and acknowledge that even in this world, during the times of "noblility" a lot of fucked up shit went on. If anything an isekai'd character immediately becoming a paragon of virtue is more unbelievable, especially nowadays with so called diffusion of responsibility.
Early One Piece fillers were ok, there was like one filler arc very early on that was kinda meh, and there were a couple between the end of Alabasta and Jaya that went by quickly. I would say it started getting bad around the end of Water 7 and transitioning to the Enies Lobby raid, but even then it wasn't that bad. After Enies Lobby is when it got pretty bad, but this is after ~300 episodes of time relatively well spent. There's also a project that people are working on to edit One Piece down, cutting out filler and meshing episodes together to be more watchable. I recommend that once it's finished
I finally found others who don't think much of Re:Zero. It's not like I go out of my way to trash talk it (why bother?) but it's just not that good. There are plenty of isekai around that are better overall. Even some purely trash tier isekai titles have more entertainment value... in my opinion anyways.
Batlle Angel Alita, or Gunm in some circles, is my favorite manga of all time. Then again, i dint know how much that says because its one of three managss that ive ever fully finished, the other two jeing Rosario + Vampire, and Solo Leveling.
Yall gotta watch Bleach TYBW!! Bleach did end like shit in the manga but the redemption it’s getting with the TYBW anime is insane! It’s extremely fucking good in the anime!
If you think the Solo Leveling opening is bad (I like it), you should explore some generic shitty J-Pop openings which are a waste of time and budget imo
I'm glad you guys talked about Shangri-La frontier because I love it and other VRMMO manga/manwha but I don't like it when they get trapped/isekai'd into the game world. I find it more fun when you get a real world chapter every now and then. I felt that Shangri-La frontier does this great with both showing other games and real life stuff when the characters are logged off.
Wow I only just found this and I have so much to go through, yay. I feel like there were so many things they mentioned as "manga" but actually started as LN, I feel like they should dab into them as well. Like when scarra said mushoku tensei is done, I think he was thinking of the LN.
The take on being an elitist piece of shit as a manga reader being so far ahead of anime only fans suddenly becomes SO real when I'm also a light novel fan and when I see manga adaptations of light novels or web novels I love (IE: tensei slime, mushoten, ngnl, etc) and every time my friends talk about them, I just zip up and leave the conversation in fear of spoiling too much.
I do the same thing, haha. I read like 2 to 4 hours of manhwa at night xD. I haven't read manga a lot in the past couple years, I just read the same genre's of Korean/Chinese manhwa/manhua.
