When I first saw the story this morning I thought it was some sick April Fools nonsense. I hadn’t even heard about any of these allegations. The more I read and hear about the situation, the more it seems to have been grossly mishandled by the media, and as this content creator mentions, certain parties involved also have a history of driving these types of …I’d address them as social media campaigns. I’m not saying there weren’t some lines skewed with Ed’s judgement, but I think much of it has been entirely fabricated to fit a false narrative. I think the way in which opportunists circled the story for their pound of flesh was beyond unjustified. If there turns out to be more than poor judgment, then I’d be even more disheartened, but still think it should have been handled through the proper legal channels. What I do believe is that we lost a very talented and insightful artist and critic, whose analysis I very much appreciated.

He actually did invite a 17 year old over his house, come on, people. Nobody likes the woke cancel culture, crowd. But you can't defend stuff like that.

Whether he regretted it or not is beside the point, it was predatory. This stuff doesn’t happen suddenly, those kind of offers. It’s deeply disturbing. The Mob was appalling and Ed made a terrible decision but it was predatory.

The only thing I see this guy being guilty of is extending an ill-advised invitation. According to the flimsy fact in my opinion. It's way too well framed and manicured. To be clear I'm not on either side. If people really wanted the truth, they would force that out. I'm sure there are more screenshots.

@@timmybee3669 to be clear again, if you're going to go after somebody that hard, then you would want to have the whole conversation visible. There's no reason to delete it or hide it. That only benefits your case if you see that Ed was being truly inappropriate beyond the dumb invitation.

I noticed yesterday, with no idea what had happened with Ed, that two of the videos I got notifications for commenting on had deleted their 'journalistic investigations' of the utterly bullshit, exaggerated & manufactured lies intended to ruin Ed; they shamelessly repeating these women's lies as if they were facts, never acknowledging that even if every word was TRUE, Ed would still be guilty of NOTHING. The age of consent in Pennsylvania is 16. This is the most blatantly vicious of the #MeTooPlease! assaults on innocent men, all over an awkward exchange online in which *sex was never mentioned.* The stupidity, indifference, & maliciousness is maddening. I disagreed with Ed's proximity to the Woke cult, his elitist attitudes, etc. But a talented young artist was lost, & it's sad as hell. Just preparing to check out the Ed Piskor Studio Edition, for the first time in a year or so.

And the horrifying part is that in the note, it sounds like Jim knew exactly what was going to happen even though he came by his friend's house to see him before he was gone. Rather than take one for the team and be there for your buddy, you just let him know that hey it's over for you and I really don't want the mob coming after me too. Cowardice

That said, thinking longer on it, I don't blame Jim in any way, he wasn't a part of the lynch mob, I wish him the best & hope he's going to keep CK going for the sake of Ed's legacy, & Jim's own. I'm just incredibly disappointed that Jim didn't stand up to the mob; that show of solidarity might have been all it took to pull his friend away from the edge of oblivion he'd been perched on the entire fucking week. I'm a fan of Gary Groth & Kim Thompson & Fantagraphics, so it's another angle of betrayal that Eric Reynolds, his longtime publisher at FB, had nothing nice to say to Ed, refusing to give him any benefit of the doubt. @sophia_comicart You must realize that when it comes to careers and livelihoods, allegations are enough to end them for the accused. What happened to Ed in the wake of Molly D’s accusation? He lost a lucrative book deal, a gallery show, his partner in Cartoonist Kayfabe ended their working relationship and his reputation was destroyed within a week. All of this based on an allegation that does not even stack up to criminal. The other Molly has no proof. No legal filings at the time, nothing. The Internet is not a way to air your grievances. These are complaints that should’ve been filed legally, not posted online to tear a man down. Is that fair? If you believe that it is, then your argument is disingenuous, and your comments should be ignored.

The Peter Pan arrested developement crowd won't, or can't, acknowledge that they have the mind (or preferences) of a 9 year old. It's not the medium, it's the content. And if you're in business, then you're catering the content to the market. And the majority of that market wants athletic figures in skin tight colorful costumes acting out a power fantasy....WWE wrestling/role model hero worship - kid's stuff. A compelling arguement can be made that severe trauma can stunt childhood development whether it's some horrible abuse, or neglect, or a terrible tragedy - things that make them feel powerless and kind of psychologically stuck with a childish need for an empowered authority figure to rescue them, or they have a need to roleplay as that empowered figure to protect their projected inner child - which probably what's behind the internet policing.

I don't know. I don't think he made it his life's mission to ruin people like some in the industry have.

She in her own words was 17 going on 18. So was of age, that’s one. Two, he flirted WITH, not AT her, for an entire year, and she admits her BOYFRIEND at the time encouraged her to. She was an ambitious young comic maker, not a child, and knew exactly what she was doing, and why, and then timed the release of a few out of context texts plastered with hundreds of words of her own sensationalist nonsense all over them to have maximum effect, and had the GALL to say she wasn’t trying to cancel him. Grooming behaviour? ‘Are you 17 or 18. Imma be so mad if you say 17 because at that age this just crushes me.’? Is that a grooming statement? Because he was talking about HER ART. When she says, in the most overtly sexual language in the entire exchange “I’m a slut for good line art” what is she doing? So bugger off with your grooming behaviours. Piskor was NOT a predator, nothing about his tone, behaviour or subsequent actions was about landing this girl in his bed whether she wanted to or not, all he is guilty of doing is flirting WITH (again, not at) a young adult who RESPONDED IN KIND, and for an entire year during Covid. As soon as the young woman made it clear she didn’t want to speak to him anymore he politely stopped doing so. Grooming behaviours??! People like you see a few out of context WORDS and happily participate in RABID MOBS aimed at destroying lives. That’s evil, truly heinous behaviour, but because YOU are a nobody you do and say whatever you like online anonymously and face no consequences for your actions.
