Today we are reviewing the Marathon OSAR, that's the Original Search and Rescue watch. It's based on the original Marathon SAR that started the whole line in the early 2000's.
Featuring the same case and dimensions as the current GSAR and TSAR, this Original version drops the tritium in favor of Maraglo, and an easy to read dial with extremely large lume plots. And speaking of legibility, the sapphire crystal has a cyclops over the date. Powered by a Swiss Made automatic Sellita SW200 movement, this Swiss made watch continues to be the ultimate tool watch.

So great to see a Marathon watch without Tritium tubes. It has always been a deal breaker to me. The large lume plots are another nice touch. They remind me (in a good sense) of the vintage Yema Superman II.

I have an original. It has a 60 click bezel. It came on a nylon strap. The bracelet has the Maple Leaf. They both came in simple brown cardboard boxes. :)

Supercool! I have an original SAR dated from 2002, and have never known exactly what to call it. Now I’ll call it an original OSAR. I love the idea of a swappable bezel. As someone has already mentioned, a 12 hour would be nice, but I’d love a Pepsi and/or Coke, too!

@@islandwatch if you’ve got a direct line to Marathon, could you tell them at least one customer that dates back that long would love to see two things (in addition to the Coke/Pepsi bezel): a milled clasp and applied luminous ceramic plots (like Tudor). They can sell that model for a premium, too!

Good advice on getting the 41mm size. I tried the smaller 36mm before and had that same issue. It wasn't what I expected. Just a strange size.

The bezel pip on GSAR and JDD is not tritium (I've owned and sold both), and the MaraGlo is not sufficient. I need all night visibility. Wearing Luminox Master SEAL Carbon. Amazing watch, keeps time as well as the JDD for half the price and with half the weight.

Nice presentation and watches. I do have a request though. I wish you would consistently post your wrist size for the watch you are presenting. It helps me with gaining a better perspective than just saying "the case is 41mm" or whatever. You may have mentioned your wrist size in the past but my memory ain't what it used to be.

Marc is a great guy and very honest. Have bought a bunch of watches and accessories over the years and have always had a good experience. I had to return a strap once since I bought the wrong size and the return process was super easy and smooth. Highly recommend Marc and Long Island Watch 👍.

i like the largest model, i think its the Jsar jumbo sar. I like tritium and i wish they done an orange or red face. I have a Luminox divers Pacific blue face model and Tritium is amazing. I am dying to get 2 Marathons.

Love those watches. Marc, I’m a fan and it’s a cool offer but do you really have to do those click bait video picture that suggests that you will give away free GSAR when I buy an OSAR. I mean, after watching video now I understand that this arrow points to a bracelet, and it’s not like II only watch videos with free giveaways but cmon, I think this is unnecessary
